Thanks for the replies,I ordered a New one with the 2009 mapping and know NOTHING about MP3 so When I get it and cant figure it out it looks like I may have to get Buddyrich to have a Meet and get acquainted with your New Zumo Get together! Thanks for the Info. Tom

What is the recommendation GB for an SD card for the Zumo 550 and appx how many songs will it hold? I read somewhere that no matter how much GB on your SD card the Zumo will only read 500 songs...I doubt I ever put that many on but want to know. Tom

That is exactly the response I figured you would get..That is why i did not push the issue when mine failed, everybodys fault but theirs. I just chalked it up to bad experience and will tell people of my experience and PRAY that if they want to use Metz on their Ventures that Nothing happens to whoever. Personally My wife and My life is more important than to take the chance on a tire that so many are having the problem with. When they blow its too late for thinking maybe I should have taken the warning. I love my Avons but trust me if they EVER have a major problem I will bash them as hard as the Metz.To all that run them watch close as they start by small cracks by the center tread and all I know of have been the rear tire.

I do not ride real aggressive but when by myself and pulling my trailer I lean WAYYYY over in curves and it has never been a problem with the standard ball hitch. That being said I try and not make a habit of it as I realize if a deer runs out in front of me pulling the trailer especially in a hard curve I have 0 chance of getting it stopped.

I see you are going to Montrose,CO.Remember we will be in Ouray 8/23-8/30...Tom

Been running Amsoil 20/50 since 5000 miles no problems at all...Either one,Amsoil or Mobil1 are great synthetics..took many years to sell me on synthetics but thats all I use now.If you are going to change oil at 3-4000 mile intervals might as well use Dino oil unless you are like me and just like the synthetics.

Mine started around the right side of center tread.I kept the air pressure at recommended pressure. It started as small cracks and the small pieces started peeling1/4 inch or so with larger cracks showing up and starting to separate. Now as far as where mine were made I do not know. I am glad you are having good luck and if nothing else maybe with ANY tire we will ALL be more observant and avoid a disaster.
-
Starrider, Watch Really close as mine started the separation just to the right of center on the rear tire only at 1700 miles. It is very scary as Debby and I had just come back from Big Bend and running speeds of 80-85 on 98 degree days. I inspected mine and sure enough small chunks were like ripping away from tread area. The dealer was going to replace with another set but Our lives are worth more so I bought Avons again. BE CAREFUL (BTW Speed Limit in West Texas is 80MPH)

There have been alot of posts on these things so in short,I live in Deer country..I dont want ANYTHING to spook them any more than they already are. Deer will scatter ANY direction when unusual noises are present by having one you MAY have them scatter into your path even if they are in the woods nearby and jump out in front of you after hearing the whistle. Bottom line Watch closely, try not to make ANY other noises than you already are making and PRAY!

Glad he is OK Ron,I agree totally from my own experience..Be safe,Tom

1,Front brakes on mine dont squel,I think its because I use about 70% of my stopping by the front brake. 2 The shorter shield will give more buffeting on the passenger especially,I bought the XXtall Clearview w/a vent and even though I look thru it I get an amazing amount of air when I open the vent, also riding in the rain it sheds water better and you can use rainx on the CLEARVIEW shield and it reallly helps..now I dont mind riding if it rains

I have a Royal Star Venture..The V4 is Not as smooth as the Honda 6 clylinder,as far as engine smoothness, the ride is as good, but the only complaint about the V4 Yamaha is the"whine" of the clutch basket and that is basically a characteristic of the motorcycle.Mine has it but it really does not bother me.Some people it really bothers and I guess if you focus on that one thing it would drive you nuts..that being said the Honda to me has a whirring sound, not really noticable BUT if you focused on that alone it would drive you crazy..Bottom line is ALL bikes have their little quirks and the Yamaha V4 is a great engine as well as the Honda and both are bullet proof engines! Tom

I found that just running the stock Avons made a BIG difference but you will here from a very few that they dont like them..I have never tried the smaller tire and probably never will being that it handles like a dream with stock Venom sizes

Rear Shock replacement question
Tom replied to bobbyduck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The Works Performance is what I put on mine also..Just an install tip,On some of the shocks the top bracket on the SHOCK where the hole is MAY need to have a slight bit of sanding to narrow it just a VERY VERY small bit as mine would not fit into the saddle mount.I called Rick and he said some MAY need that as they are close. It only took a small amount and then it went in tight.Glad I put it on! Smoother ride than ever before. Tom..BTW Be Safe and the bike looks GREAT! -
I run Krome werks I like them,I think they are a little less loud than Bubs but its a toss up..They have different tips also,Here is a pic of mine, you can turn them down or sideways.
