  1. I have the modulite on mine..I dont know if it really makes a difference but mine says it is for LED lights which I have on my trailer and rear lights, hooked it up per instructions Freebird has posted in TECH section and everything works great. Here is whay it says on Etrailer.com ( 4-pole trailer connector is 60" long from converter box Pigtail leads measures 18" long - passenger wire (green) measures 72" long Will work on vehicles with LED taillights Capacities: 4.2 amps (tail); 2.1 amps (stop/turn) AGAIN,I do not really know if I needed to get the one for LED lights but I did and it works for me..Here is the site http://www.etrailer.com/pc-T1~118176.htm
  2. Yes it can be transferred,I think you just go to a dealer and fill out the paperwork.I dont know what a Yes Warraty is? I do know you can buy extended warranties from independent warranty companies but on the 05 you should have close to 2 years left, depending on when the original owner purchased the bike. My opinion buying an extended warranty on these bikes is wasting money. Tom (Blanco,Texas)
  3. I live in Deer Country and Do Not use one.I see probably 45-60 deer when I go to work in the mornings..They do not do much MOST of the time UNLESS you make a change in sound from vehicle,IE accellerate Honk the horn or whatever, then they RUN EVERY direction! THAT IS NOT GOOD! If I keep same speed, keep an eye on them USUALLY they just look and continue eating. THAT being said,Deer are VERY unpredictable and YES they will run into you or in front of you without warning. My preference is slow easily,Look out for them to do ANYTHING but dont make ANY noises as a deer is very spooked and just because you have a "deer whistle" does not mean they are going to run away from you..They go EVERYWHERE.

Take the tire back immediately if this is happening..This is not normal and sure dont want to see anything happen to you! Tom
  5. I am spending the night in Huntsville(drive a truck) and heading just south of Houston in the AM,just windy up here but I expect alot of rain when I get up in the morning and truck on. Tom

    Avon's

I run Avons and I guess its just me but they stick like glue on wet roads..Corner better than any tire Ive ever had and that is all I will EVER put on my bike...If you air them properly they will be a great tire..I have 7000 miles on my current set and they still look new.Tom

Tom
  9. Its on Snopes ..In Short.... False.
  10. I did my own service but dealer (most ) do not cre if you are over..The radio, make them repair it..5 year unlimited mileage warranty
  11. Congrats on the New Trailer! Thats what I have and love it,I bought the smaller one and its been a pleasure pulling it. I think there is a member that makes one ...Venturedad??? I think..I bought the hidden hitch from Diamond R A little more expensive but you dont know its there when you take the receiver part off. Tom
  12. I do it all the time I do not think ANY dealer would sale a Blem or whatever tire as I would think the legal liabilties for failure would really be bad..I am assuming you have run Metz. Now just my personal opinion IF you are going with Metz and evidently you have had good luck,PLEASE watch the rear for the dreaded chunking of rubber alot of us have experienced. Mine only made it to 1700 miles before they started throwing rubber..Now ALOT on here have had NO trouble but No more for me. Tom
  13. Rick,We dont profile! You are from my original part of the country anyway, born and roots in Lufkin. BTW,It would turn heads all the Ventures at the ROT Rally !
  14. They are not that expensive and all you do is stick a grease gun on the nipple where the dust cap normally is and shoot a bit of grease in it. http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/graphics/00000001/rn/bearing/2441.jpg

    09 Harleys

Scott,Here in New Braunfels TX I thought about an Ultra hard..The salesperson let me take an 07 for the day as he thought he had a sale which he would have until the day I took it out....while it was a very nice bike, rode great handled superbly let me tell you the heat issue is a REAL problem! I could handle the power issue, torquey, but not anything like the RSV on power, but really I am not sure about your riding weather up there but here in Texas I cant handle that heat it puts out...If it were not for that I would have bought it. Just my Opinion..Tom
  16. They should not need it but for my own piece of mind Id pull the dust covers and take a peek..If it looks like a lot of grease put on the dust cap and have a great time! I have bearing buddies on mine and I shoot just a little grease in till I see the movement then stop. Tom
  17. The lens get at Cruiser customizing as someone earlier said..IF you REALLY want to be seen I suggest the ones I use from Custom Dynamics http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm ASK ANYONE that has ridden behind me,they are amazed at how bright they are click on that link and you will see the LED panel that just plugs in at the 1157 socket that is stock. Those that have seen it are WildHair39.Lonestarmedic,Ponch , GaryN, more but I can tell you YOU WILL BE SEEN. At night when I hit the brake light I can see it illuminate from My rider position. Tom...By the way Everyone likes there on way they dress there bike so if you like clear DO IT..I like Clear.
  18. Will look at my schedule,Like to do it before I head to Colorado on 8/22/08,but if ,or that may be crowding it..Will let ya know latr in week..Thanks! Yes I will turn wrenches also,I am not afraid of getting my hands dirty,at least I learn something! Tom

    METZ 880s

Scott your Buddy was on a Harley too wasnt he? I think Iremember you writing on the event,If so I stand corrected on just the 2nd Gen as I had forgotten about that. Tom

    METZ 880s

I have noticed there seems to be a problem ONLY on the 2nd Gen which has a larger rear tire.I agree that Metz has a good tire for other bikes but SOMETHING about the 2nd Gens they have a problem. My "born Date"on the Metz I bought were only 5 months on the shelf but started throwing rubber at 1700 miles.I was offered another set but no Thanks..I have heard it is an issue as to where they are made but I will not put them on my bike ever again. That being said there are many members on here that have had very good luck with them but the members that have had the same bad results far outweigh the good stories. I also would like to know the cause of why on the 2nd gen sizes..I ran air pressure to specs and EVERY time I ride anywhere I check the air.
  22. Some use the smaller front but I will tell you if you just put the STOCK sizes back on in the Avon Venoms there is a world of difference. You will get other responses that the smaller is better for handling but from what i have read they went straight to the smaller front from the stock and didnt try it with the STOCK size first. I do not run the leveling links and I will only run Avons from now on in the STOCK size..I had mets 880s for 1700 miles and they started throwing rubber so Again,MY OPINION stay away from METZ 880s Front 150/80-16 Rear 150/90-15
  23. ACTUALLY,not a bad idea..Yellowstone and many other great day rides..One thing to consider is the dates though as Yellowstone is a BIG problem during vacation..Bumper to Bumper traffic in the park
  24. It would be nice to have it in a central location for everyone. Personally I think whoever came up with the Ft Collins idea last year was a great one.(Would it be too boringto have it in the same place annually?) The location was about as central for everyone that I can think of and PLENTY of motels,Campgrounds and dealing with the same folks would only make the process easier to organize. Now that being said if it EVER comes to the hill country in Texas I will be happy to assist in the organizition and we have a number of great Members here in the area that I am sure we could get a good committe together. Its a hard thing for those in Southern Florida,California,Oregon Washington State and Eastern and western Canada to make the events with the price of fuel as it is. For whatever location there must be alot of motels or campgrounds to accommodate a crowd as large as it was in FT Collins,CO. Tom
  25. Well Brian,Even if we never have one here You all are always Welcome at my place here and the riding is FANTASTIC..I work week on week off so just plan on being here when I am on my off week! Tom
