  1. I've just been checking out the "Run For The Wall" http://www.rftw.org/index.asp?lg=1&w=pages&r=-1&pid=0 website. I was wondering if any of the Venture Riders group has considered doing this ride? Any of ya'll especially in So. Texas , East Texas , Ok., or La.? It is a long ride but a important statement can be made by participation. Just a thought.
  2. I removed the tape player and created a small storage compartment I also installed a duel plug-in for mp3 and whatever else. My question is: I would like to know if anyone has purchased or made a handlebar or other type mounting bracket for the mp3 player? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
  3. I to ran the bike about 10 miles one morning the only thing I have noticed is that when downshifting the bike sounds like a harley (backfiring). I hope I don't do that again.
  4. Is there going to be a "ride like a pro" course offered in Sugarland? I sure am interested
  5. I did away with the cassette player and added a pig-tail adapter to the amp. I ran the pig tail into the new "glove compartment" it is large enough for a garage door opener and an mp3 player. The job was a lot simpler than i imagined. Just use caution and don't make the storage compartment to deep or you will not be able reach loose items that seem to find their way to the baack of the compartment.
  6. Ant of you folks out there going to do the Texas Honor Ride on the 8th of November? It is police escorted from Houston to Brooks Army Medical Center in San Antonio. The day will be spent with the wounded warriors and their families.
  7. I am looking for a drink holder that I can mount on the hand supports on the passenger seat. Any Ideas or suggestions? Thanks
  8. Tom you were right the chock throttle was loose causing it to be out ever so slightly, thanks that suggestion saved me alot of time and troubleshooting.
  9. Possibly I guess but it seems to idle great, I'll check that when I get home in the morning.
  10. Two days prior to hurricane Ike hitting here, I pulled the tank off my '05 RSV and changed the plugs, while I had the tank off I also changed out the coolant and cleaned the reservoir. I also went ahead and changed the oil and filter. Anyway during this time the storm hit and needless to say my attention got diverted from my task of completing the maint. I work in one of the Chemical plants here on the shipchannel and just the other day after two weeks I got the bike back together. Heres is the problem, it hs started back-firing rather badly after it geets good and warm (when down-shifting). After looking at a parts manual I see that there is a roll over valve I do not think that I reattached the hose from the tank to the valve. I really don't remember even taking it loose. Could this be causing the problem? Plugs were replaced with same type and #, no contamination of fuel. So I am stumped, what do ya'll think?
  11. I live 1 1/2 miles from Galveston Bay at the mouth of the ship channel in Houston (LaPorte) actually. I am at work tonight but will be getting off at 5:30 a.m. Go home weake up the wife ,gently I might add, and decide if we are going to ride this baby out or head out of town. It would be kinda nice to stay as there are very few folks left here. They are estimating 2 million people will evacuate before its over. Oh well, you folks take care and remember us in your prayers. See Ya.
  12. When changing the oil in the RSV is there something called "primary oil"? Buddies at work discuss canging the oil in the primary. My question is when I cange the oil in the crankcase is there something additionally that I need to do? I was under the impression that the cluch wae lubed through the standard oil reservior. True or not? Thanks
  13. Ol Chief of the Death Cats MC. Is 58 old? Dang it, man!!
  14. After looking at the substructure of the Venture I am confused about what motorcycle jack to purchase. What are you guys using? If anyone has the Craftsman Professional model the $200.00 one, do you need some type of adaptor plate? Thanks
