  1. Waaaaaaay cool!!!
  2. The only difference between the 680 and the 680MJ IS the metal cover, which is used as a heat shield for the battery and the reason why it is recommended for the Venture. It keeps engine heat at bay from the battery which could, over time, damage the battery...
  3. Uhhh, no, Tim, what I meant is do not stop SIDEWAYS on an incline like I did last summer at the Biltmore. Traffic stoped abruptly and the uphill grade did a 90 degree turn while going uphill. I unfortunately was sideways on the incline and had a long way to put my foot down to the ground. The bike leaned past the point of no return long before my toe touched pavement. We were both thrown off and the bike slid sideways down the hill...
  4. Never ever strop sideways on a hill, and never ever stop with the front tire higher than where your feet are!!! Don't ask how I know these... Make sure your air suspension is at the lowest setting possible without the suspension botoming out. You can also take the seat apart and remove some of the paddsing to get you a little closer to the ground. Boots with very thick soles also help...
  5. Just called Gary last night and had a wonderful conversation with him. This was the first time we ever spoke in person although we have been friends for quite some time. He will be there until tomorrow and loves the phone calls. If you have the time give him a call!
  6. Glad to hear things are OK, Lewis! We serve an awesome God!!
  7. Godspeed, brother, I'll be praying for you!!
  8. Been there, done that, Don, so I know what you are going through!! Becky and I both quit in the late '80s and both went cold turkey. I give all the credit to Jesus Christ because wqithout him I'm sure I couldn't have made it...
  9. Ewwww!! That's disgusting!! Also cooooold on the old buns...
  10. Hmmmm, musta seen mine! Just wait til this summer, I'm seriously considering buying one of those rear view cameras to use as an electronic rear view mirror so I know just how far behind me the 2nd gen'ers are:stirthepot:
  11. Uhhhhh, errrrr, ahem, it's probably best that my wife does NOT know how much I spend on a regular basis on my scoots. Probably enough to make payments on a new one, but then I'd want accessories for it too...
  12. OK I just put the first bid on the MK2 CB I am watching. J&M makes a CB unit that mounts on the handlebars. When I installed the CB o n the '84 I lucked out getting the cables I needed from Thom440 off of his parts bike. Many thanks, Thomas, it was a blessing!! If you go that route, you will need to gewt the fairing dash from a MK2 to make the installation easier than the route I went which was to cut up and fabricate the mount for the CB and put it where the 2 piece one goes on the MK1. I had to relocate the radiator surge tank for clearance. It was an involved project to say the least, but I'm glad it's done so now I can communicate with other riders...
  13. OK first off, there are 2 different style CB's, the right one for the '83 thru 85 which consists of a controller that mounts on the fairing top above the CLAS controller, and the actual CB box which is mounted in the fairing. The '86 up is a self contained unit that is deep and has to be mounted wqhere the existing CLAS controller is and the controler is mounted above the CB. Both styles (and to make life more confusing, the 83 `- 85 has 2 different versions) are hooked up to the audio amplifier via a 6 pin DIN cable, and you hear it thru the audio system/intercom, and use your intercom mike for the CB mike. Which one are you bidding on? There is one on my watch list presently going for $36 that ends in a day or so that I was planning on sniping but if that is the one you are looking at I will not bid. OK you will need an antenna splitter, a PTT button, and the stock stereo/intercom system as well as the din cable to hook up the CB to the audio system...
  14. You could buy some short bolts of the right thread (Lowes is a pretty good source of metric bolts) and then also buy a can of gloss black paint while you're there. When you get home find a piece of cardboard and make some holes in it and put the bolts in the hole to just expose the heads. Then proceed to paint the bolt heads a nice shiny black. Let dry a few days and then carefuly screw in. You may want to consider some loctite so you don't have to torque them so hard and wreck your paint job.. Viola, a nice custom job that will look stock...
  15. Carb boots show up all the time on ebay, used of course...
  16. I do, I do!!! I have 3 rights and no left. PM me your addy...
  17. ^^^^^^ There ya go! If it falls thru, get in touch with me and help clean out my shed in the spring!
  18. Yah! Good stuff!! Brad, give me a call preferably evenings, I'm usually home after 4:00 Not a big problem to ship, was just thinking of saving a few bucks but it's no big deal. I'll take the problem one in return and see what I can do with it...
  19. I have a pair but can't get to them for at least a month. Can't get my shed door open until the ground thaws...
  20. Thanks, Earl! I've seen that set and was wondering how they were. I have 2 sets of carbs for rebuild (or now possibly only 1 set if I give up a carb to Squidley) to get around to one of these days. I need at least 1 set for the 85 project bike. The 84 is still running pretty decent, and I can always rebuild the set fom the 85 to have as spares...
  21. Will you be at Carl's M&E in March at Green Acres? Can it wait that long??
