MK2 and SS lines + a front master that's even bigger than the MK2...
-
Thought I'd give a sneak preview of this year's upgrades on Goldie. I'm finally doing the MK2 upgrade of the brakes which includes replacing the front suspension. Here's the shocks as of today, waiting on the rest of the new parts... Brakes and Master Cylinders are already done as well as nice new SS lines. So are the Calipers. Now to install all these nice "Good as new" parts!

Wow! looks like a phony 2nd gen...

'83 - '85 pre sn 1470 and the problem was a weak thrust bearing. Do a search to get more info. The brunt of the issue, you could loose 2nd gear, and fix runs around $800 to have it done for you, do it yourself for a couple of bucks, or live without 2nd gear. It just pops out of gear, no nasty metal breakage or anything like that...

I agree, a nice stylish fairing to get rid of that "Harley" look and I'd be VERY interested...

Front wheel bearing removal ?
bongobobny replied to 6m459's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If the rim is bent, I Definately would not trust the bearings!!! They received a prety hearty shock when the wheel got bent... -
Replied to email. Sorry, guessed at how to fill out the registration form...

Are BOTH of the tail light bulbs work? If one is out that will trigger the light alarm. The red light is flashing because of the light error indication...

Stumped......

Take a paper towel or thin rag and try to poke it into the area to soak up the coolant. Not a real good idea to just leave it i n there... -
Bought mine 2 1/2 years ago with 8700 miles on it. Now has around 15K. I gots to ride it more...

Man, sure is a shame that engine was that misused! 98K is just about broken in for these engines! Sounds like you have a good plan, man!

Back to the brakes
bongobobny replied to KarlS's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I will be the third to agree with this! Another possibility could be that there is a nasty ridge on the cylinder wall and should be honed out. Also, I would assume that when you took it apart, you installed a new rebuild kit. The fact that tapping freed up the brakes suggests that some kind of stickage is preventing the piston from returning to the "Home" position. As mentioned, make sure those 2 little holes, especially the one that has the countersunk area, are clear and free. If you reused your old sealls, hopefully you did not soak them in solvent as that makes the seals swell and increase in size. If that is the case, bake them for about 10 minutes at around 200 deg F... -

I got the shock apart, Scotty! An extreme "DOH" moment! Almost went into the wall on the first yank it came apart soooo easy! Shame I had to miss Pt Dover...

Yes, I have bought from them with no problems that I can remember... I hate when that hapens! So far I've only had 2 problems in the last 3 years, both finally satisfactorly resolved. We did have to send "Pyro" to one place a couple of years back!

Looking for a TCI
bongobobny replied to Dano's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Dano, from what I've been told, any year except an '83 will work. I do have 1 spare but I'm afraid I might need it for the '85, and won't know for at least a couple of months for sure. -
Thanks, Rocket!

Anybody Need A PT2...
bongobobny replied to bongobobny's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's a Clearview windshield, the wide one. Joopster, whenever they start making a 2nd Gen worthy of being rebuilt, I will start saving their parts...:stirthepot: -

Well, when I asembled all the parts I rebuilt this winter, I used synthetic brake fluid to assemble, but elsewise left dry. Should be no different than the seals setring in the wrapper at the dealers... I completely rebuilt 2 clutch masters, 2 clutch slaves, 3 pair of front MK2 calipers, 2 pair of rear MK2 calipers, 3 rear master cylinders along with the proportioning valves, and 3 MK2 front masters. The only thing left for me to rebuild this year is 2 sets of front shocks, and then tear Goldie apart and update front suspension and complete new hydraulics. The other stuff is for the project '85 whenever it finally gets worked on... -
