  1. You are probably going to find a broken driver belt or 2. You should replace all 3 as the rubber is quite old...
  2. OK so far things are starting to shape up quite well!! Sounds like quite the M&E for the Detroit area Wednesday night!! Thursday I am spending time with my sister during the AM/Afternoon and only expect to make it across the state by evening. Now Friday, however, is turning into a great time!!! We will be staying in an RV at Flying Fool's (Jeff Borkowski) place and having a grand old time!!! Saturday calls for us to try to make it the Minn/St Paul area so we can shop at the Mall of the Americas just to say we did! I'm hoping I can twist Bubber's arm to come on down and visit! We pretty much plan on spending the whole day there, may travel a couple of hours towards the Dakoda's but not far. We want to reach the Mt Rushmore area Monday evening. We plan on spending 3 whole days in the area before heading back. Plan on taking Interstate 80 for the most part. Have a school friend in northern Ill I want to hook up with on the way. Want to spend some time with the Ohio people if possible, or, maybe, just maybe try to get to RiderDuke's M&E in VA but it';s a long shot!!
  3. The issue with the aftermarket LED's may be as simple as wrong polarity. If you have a black and a white wire the black is hot and the white is ground...
  4. Yes, most likely it is poor solder contacts on the controller board, the usual problem for error messages. The solder is 25 years old and been subjected to vibrations all these years. Could also be a leak from one of the "O" rings on one of the lines, or could be coming from the front forks losing pressure from the fork seals...
  5. I like how that Dude thinks!!!
  6. Yup, well worth the investment!! You are right, you have ALMOST all the chrome add ons but there are a few you don't have, and they are rare as hen's teeth! There are chrome fairing vents, chrome lower side cover panels, chrome top piece for the trunk, and chrome inserts for the passenger foot pegs. If you ride 2 up a lot there is a few things you can do for passwenger comfort such as moving the trunk back a few inches, and installing MK2 passenger floorboards for startrers. I also added highway pegs for my wife as well. Check out my old blonde in my photo gallery. Bought it with only 8K on it, it now has over 18K. Haven't driven it since buying my 2nd gen in '09 but still won't part with it!!! Welcome to the zoo!! Now start attending some of the M&E's!!!
  7. Sorry we couldn't make Asheville this year, but hoopefully we will see the both of you at Flying Fool's place Friday Sep 7th!!
  8. Said a prayer Kenny!!!
  9. Always glad to help out a fellow member. I'm thinking the CH9 switch is defective, I should have a new switch to install. Swapping out the units is the fast efficient way and then I can try a new switch at my leisure...
  10. Glad KIC has one, I gave away all my spares about a month ago. Had 3 pairs...
  11. Yes, unfortunately you can't fix stupid...
  12. Ignition switches on 2nd gens are a known problem...
  13. Count me inm for 1 Brian!!
  14. Cool beans Rick!!! Sounds like one great vacation!!!
  15. Uhhh, swap it out with one of the spare CB's I have???
  16. Yes I have one, may be the clutch one but as Gary said it should work. You will probably have to disassemble and service it but it's an easy job. Just PM me your addy and I'll send it out NC. Sorry I didn't get back sooner but been kind of busy this weekend...
  17. Yup! A few familar faces! Wish we could have made it! Oh well, maybe next year...
  18. Yup! Try Fleabay! With the 2nd gens, just like the 1st gen's one size fits all...
  19. OK, just because you sell your Venture does not mean you leave this site!!! We don't care what you ride so stick around!
  20. Ida Kno...
  21. It's a black cherry...
  22. Not sure on the number but it should have 4 wires instead of 2. The later version switch had noise filters on the switch as well to eliminate the "pop" in the audio system when you put the brakes on, but either works. One set of contacts is NC (the cruise control contacts) while the other set is NO (the brake light contacts). If you want a used one I will check I might have one for the asking...
  23. Thank you for those lovely words Boomer! Like others, been there, done that! My pet is getting up in years so I savor every day I still have him. Yes, they do become family, I feel so very sorry for your loss!
  24. Once again thank you all!! It is such a great feeling to know I have so many wonderful friends!!
