  1. I have a windshield, and a set of handlebars that are slightly tweaked but probably useable...
  2. My 4th of July party will be on July 4th again...
  3. Ummm, I have experienced a few "unique" side tours but the wildest one was to be across the street from a cemetary and the GPS told me "You have reached your destination"...
  4. Service rear master cylinder and flush the lines!! The rear brake is linked to one of the front brakes. There is a proportioning valve mounted on the rear master cylinder. Also be very careful removing the fill plug on the rear resovoir as several of us have broken the resovoir unscrewing. Although the plugs and wires may look good just remember how old those wires are. They may work fine in dry weather but the first time it rains it may leave you stranded or limping home. There is a ton of "other" maintenance issues that you will njeed to attend to as time progresses to make your ride even nicer, things like replacing the steering head bearings, rebuilding your front shocks, servicing your swing arm and rear shock arm, etc but none are real immediate issues...
  5. Yup! You ain't gonna straighten that one out! Time for a replacement. You may want to consider a larger MK2 (or '85) trunk. The conversion is not that difficult to do but you will need a mounting rack from an '85 or cut the arms off of a MK2 one and you need the longer antenna arm...
  6. Yup, wet TCI!! Time to relocate it on top of the airbox. You will probably want to unscrew the 4 screws on the TCI case and take the cover off and drain the water out of it. Then bake in the oven at 250 degrees for a half hour or so to dry it out. When you reassemble the case put a bead of vasoline around the case edge where it joins together to help waterproof. When mounting on topof the airbox one of the "ears" needs to be broken off for clearance. A large self tapping screw holds it in place on the airbox...
  7. Ahhhh!! No one told me...
  8. Speaking of hats, we forgot to give Steamer his John Deere hat back to him from the 4th of Jyuly party...
  9. No matter where it is, we will do our best to attend!!!
  10. HEY!! I shower every day, not just at the International...
  11. Yah! I know the trike, and actually it is more of a red than an orange... We should bug Squid for more of those decals, a lot of us want them!!
  12. Tom, if you are going to be an honorary Canuck, it is "EH" not aye! Not to be confused with the Aussie OI...
  13. As usual this group never ceases to amaze me! It was soooo great to see all of you again and a few that I met for the first time! There isn't a single Venturerider I don't like!! Having been around a while I prety much knew everybody but of course there were a couple of new faces, either newer members or in the case of Angel, people I haven't seen in person for the first time. The downside, with so many friends it's hard to spend quality time with everybody. Wish we had more time!! Even though I already knew, I was still astounded with the open hearts of the Pioneer crew! They treat us sooo wonderful it is amazing! While we are on the subject, I was ho9nored to see the Venturerider crew in action doing what they always do, help out en mass whenever anybody has a problem! Angel's bike was not the only bike that had a problem, there were a couple of other minor incidents that received the royal treatment as well! You guys amaze me!! Besides all the dedicated work that the entire rally crew did I also want to give a special kudos to Wizard765 in helping out with the last minute prep work on the shower. Wayne has many talents and was a joy to work with! As a team we work exceptionally well together! I also want to thank all the volunteers on Thursday afternoon who worked in the rain to get the shower torn down and the materials returned to my place! The lumber is also for a project happening at my place, a new storage closet and a half bath off the kitchen. All I know is I am exhausted today partially physically and partially emotionally. Can't wait for the next event...
  14. Hmmmm, I am experiencing a charging system anomoly as we speak!! I have the Buckeye stator and an upgraded regulator. Yesterday my system crapped out but after it setting for several hours and push starting, the system is working again!! So I have a thermal issue somewhere! I am going to reinstall my R/R first and see if it is that or the stator. Not a real happy camper right now...
  15. What he said! You can get to the wires without removing the fairings but it is soooooo much easier with the fairings off...,
  16. Yah!! His Birthday and he disappears from the International!!! We know what he got for his birthday, don;'t we?!!?:banana::banana:
  17. We'll leave the lights on for you Dave!!!
  18. Welcome aboard!! Venturous already pointed you in the right direction! We will be glad to help out as much as possible. Just take it one thing at a time, I would start with the fusebox issue followed by the carbs. Sea Foam will most likely help but you may have to disassemble the carbs and replace some parts if they are really bad. The fule smell is probably stuck floats and you may be pouring gas out the overflows. The carbs can be tricky but there is a great video out that you can sometimes find on ebay for rebuilding/overhauling the carbs. It is made for Vmax carbs but the Venture carbs are the same just jetted different. Good luck, nce you get the kinks ironed out you will find you own one of the finest touring bikes ever made! The next step will be to get out and tour and meet some of the fine members here in person!!!
  19. Yah! Heck of a surprise for Carl when he got to the mixer!! Big Tom literally carried him in over his shoulder!!
  20. Yup! The actual volume of air needed is very small, if you give it too much volume of air the PSI will build up waaaay to rapidly and you will blow out the diaphragm in no time rendering the air shock worthless for anything but a boat anchor...
  21. No, Motorcycle Tom and I bith live around the corner. He has internet access at Pioneer but didn't bring his portable computer...
  22. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONAS!!!!! Best wishes for many many more!!
  23. We'll keep the light on for ya...
  24. And I thought it was funny to have a GPS lead us into a cemetary...
  25. I totally agree that an accident makes all of us safer drivers. It is always a learning experience! There are two kinds of riders, those that have gone down and those that are going to. You have crossed over to the other side and thank God you are alive to learn from it! Yes, you now have a new respect for what can happen! It does give you a whole new perspective on riding! Just because you fall off a horse is no reason to stop riding and neither is having an accident no reason to stop driving whether it's 2 wheels or 4. Of course I understand your wife's concern, she loves you deeply and does not want you to ever leave her!! You should be glad for that! But, by the same point, I understand your desire to still ride, all of us get that!!! My wife really lectured me when I went down about 10m years ago but luckily she understands and loves to ride as much as I do so she did not press quiting motorcycles. In that way I am a lucky man! Maybe if you explain to her that we all have a time and place when we die and you do not have a death wish juast because you want to continue to ride...
