  1. All the best to you Jeff, that was the biggest thing I hated about Florida was the damn Hurricanes! Take care of yourself bro.
  2. Phil, Have you done a carb sync on the bike since you have had it? If you haven't done it already, replace the vac line from #2 Cylinder to the boost sensor, and replace the other 3 caps on the vac ports in the manifold boots. This way your not 2nd guessing those components being good or not.
  3. Dont they have a set that is set up for the RSV?
  4. I have no experience with that trunk, but it looks like it's got lots of room. If you like it, I would jump on that, for under $200 thats a steal.
  5. I bought the charging kit from Earl and I installed that R/R back in the original spot by the swingarm. I'll try to get some pics of it and post them up.
  6. Holy Cow! You had me believing that you knew what you were talking about there. I never knew you had a double jointed tongue Walter
  7. Just some info about Gasoline Boiling Point "The boiling point of gasoline varies. At atmospheric pressure, it's between 100 and 400 oF. A primary cause of this variance is the various additives in the gasoline from different refiners designed to meet different octane requirements." If you haven't I would drain the tank and try some fresh gas in it. I personally have never heard of gas boiling in a tank or a carburetor. Thats not to say it doesn't happen, but it seems very unlikely to me that this would cause all your troubles. I'd still wager that it's in either the floats, needles or the seats. That is what controls how much gas gets into the bowls.....
  8. Happy Birthday Bethy Boo!!! Even though your membership is expired we still know who you are
  9. That doesn't really surprise me, if there isn't enough juice to fill all the power needs of the computer, coils and such, I could see the bike working harder which means more fuel consumption. Kind of a nice gift to get back isn't it
  10. Maybe....I haven't heard of anyone trying to get it replaced under warranty, but you could be the 1st one If it's not, for less than $100 and an hours time (I can do one in 20 minutes while talking) you can have a top notch clutch. Hell you dont even have to drain the oil as it can be done on the sidestand.
  11. Your welcome out here anytime my friend, shoot me a PM and I'll give you our new address....you'll love the new "Workshop"
  12. I highly doubt that it's the oil, I would like to think that Yamaha knows the majority if not all of the bikes they make are wet clutches. It sounds like you have a weak clutch spring, very common in the G2's. Skydoc 17 makes a complete kit with a heavier spring and a full friction disc replacement. I have done dozens of the upgrades and they work great, here's a link to his classified ad... http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3763&title=second-genheavy-duty-clutch-spring-upgrade-kit-21&cat=22
  13. Keith, If you get a little time and want to come up to the country, swing by the new place and we'll see how well they synced your carbs.
  14. Thats not PEX Froggie, it sounds like polybutylene that they put in mobile homes. There was/is a lawsuit going on with that stuff. You can't buy it as it has been banned for use. Your only other choices are Copper, Pex or PVC to replumb with. I know some plumbers who love the Pex on new construction, but it will somewhat suck to try and retrofit the entire house with it all at once.
  15. Ross, I purchased my parts and rebuild kits from Yamaha Sports Plaza http://www.ysppart.com/ Their prices are very competitive and I have had great customer service from them. Pioneer in NY http://www.pioneermotorsport.com/default.asp also do very good by us, they actually had a display stand at Freebirds 2011 MD in Ohio.
  16. I have never used any lead additives in any of the 1st gens I have owned. Run them on '87 octane and dont worry about it....
  17. Dont laugh, I have worked with one of my best friends who is a master plumber and we HAVE tore floors out because it was pretty much the only way to get at a problem.
  18. Congratulations Karl! ...and a Grandpa to boot
  19. Hal, Take it to the dealer! it has a 5 year warranty so dont let them skirt their responsibility. It's a known issue and this way you have a track record of it. If you still have it when it goes out of warranty, then we'll put an aftermarket in it. Like Eck mentioned, listen for the clicking when you 1st turn the key on. If you dont hear it, pull the left side cover off and tap on the fuel pump with a screwdriver handle and see if it starts clicking. If it does then your pump is going out. If you want some help with it give me a shout, I'll be more than happy to help you with it.
  20. Thanks Buddy...Good to see you posting here
  21. Thats what we did to the HF I bought, took it to Doodles and drilled/anchored it to the garage floor. If he needs to move it we can unbolt it and move it out of the way. Been bolted in the floor about 2 years now and the Houston crew has probably changed out 40 tires on that little machine
  22. You shouldn't have done that Rick Now he's just going to make you wait for the answer
  23. Didn't y'all get the PM?
  24. Harleys are great machines, I have one and I like the nostalgia of it. The newer ones have a lot going for them, they beat out an RSV in many areas. I still love the RSV, no bike I have ever rode fit's me better, but I have a few gripes about it. Thats a great looking machine that I'm sure you'll get much enjoyment out of. I'm glad to hear you'll stick around, I hope you'll try to visit some of us at the rally's from time to time. The H/D's are always welcome wherever we go
  25. Not that you folks in NC weren't good to them, but we'll gladly take them here in Texas and treat them good
