I noticed that the lady in the pictures seems to be very happy indeed, and the guy don't clean up so bad either. Awesome vid. May God bless you and your family as He has in the past.

Easy tings first. Check the wiring and connectors coming from the regulator and the stator. If they are clean and in good shape the the bets are on the stator. Do a search on stator repair and that will give you the checks needed to come up with a conclusion.

Is that your new riding partner Gary?? -
Another good post,,, amazing that they didn't have to sync that sucker after doing all the testing. Was it firing on all pots, or was there a miss at times,, did they check to make sure the clutch wasn't slipping or do you have another appointment for that? Guess you didn't get a complete analysis,, headlights? brake pads? landing gear? exhaust? computer? intake manifold? main frame integrity? steering? noise reduction? guess they can have you in there for some more things. The best to ya, and remind them that come spring there is riding to be done, so they'd better be done with their playing around.

Front fork position
Marcarl replied to Venturous Randy's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If I have it right, there is a ciriclip on the fork that sits right under the top part of the triple tree. This is there to prevent the fork from sliding any higher into the tree. You cannot clamp the tree tight enough to prevent movement, so the ciriclip is there so that the fork bottoms out. Somehow you would have to deal with that issue as well. -
Seems to work for me OK, maybe you have to log in???

I'm a rather simple guy,,, no real good history,,,, except that I married a wonderful woman called Marca,,,,,, all is did was add rl to Marca,, so we have MarCarl,, the two of us bound together.

Good idea Jim,,,, but those thingies are spring loaded, so when he gets the end cut off he'll have to find 2 lost bearings...... lol

Seems to me that you undid something that you were unaware of. It should start and run just fine without all the gizmos. Check your fuse box for loose connections, loose wire end at the fuse box, kill switch, and maybe try it with the kickstand up, or the clutch handle pulled in. Could be a switch as well. And welcome, glad you joined because that way we can help,,,,, sometimes from the frying pan into the fire, but help none the less.

Glad to hear you two are ok, and able to witness the result and tell us of it. My wife has always hinted at getting an MG or that type of vehicle when we is done with a bike,,, but then last year we bought the Spyder. Haven't heard anything about an MG lately. Got a question for you thought,,,,, when you found that you weren't heading in the desired direction, where were you looking??? around the curve still, or where you thought you were going to end up? Inquiring mind wants to know.

So Brenner, where abouts in Niagara are you. I've been reading this thread and would be interested in viewing your progress at time maybe. I visit in Grimsby on a weekly basis, and have a daughter in St Kits that I visit on occasion. I used to own an 85 until last year, and it also went to the Penninsula, Dain City area. I also have a whole box full of parts that may or may not be useable. Maybe we can get together.

Now what are we counting,,,, I'd rather count up,,, counting down is soooo morbid, there is only so much time left.

hard cold starting
Marcarl replied to Trader's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It should start just fine, hot or cold. Try some new plugs, NGK for my preference, tried others but never had any better luck. My 85 was developing starting issues, so I rebuilt the carbs. It thanked me in more ways than one. As time goes on the passages in the carbs will become less clean than when new and they weren't designed to be half clean, so clean them up,,, good idea and it gives you something to do. It's not nearly as problematic as you might think. Pretty easy and straight forward. -
I keep what ever balls I find, you just never know when a feller might need them. So I measured some that I have that come from England I believe .125 or.157,,, interested?

I think Fools machine is working just fine, just needs a little aiming, that's all. Got the call Wed eve to be on site for 4 am Thurs, expecting about 10cm,,, so that should be about 6 hours,,, RIGHT???? WRONG!!!!! we ended up with 18cm (that's 7in instead of 4in in plain english) and we were there for 20hrs straight. Thanks Fool, the boss owes me some money!

More trouble south of the border,, guess I might have to get ready to help out!

Tire life and conditions of age
Marcarl replied to Brenner's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Watching them close may seem like an option, but not much help if all of a sudden one day they give out. I would be content for myself if my tires were 6 years old, but then that would be the limit,, time to replace. Hey, we do this for enjoyment and where is the fun of it if you have to be concerned about your tires all day long. Crap can happen awful fast.
