  1. Well it started off on Monday, took Charlene to the Dr. for some blood tests, but I stayed out in the car because I didnt want to pick up whatever it is that's going around. My wife started with a dry hacking cough, fever, chills last Fri after getting home from the Dr. That's why I stayed out in the car. Well everything was ok until Christmas Eve, I started with the dry hacking cough, aches, and asthma acting up. So much for me staying healthy through the holidays. Went to my daughters yesterday even though I wasnt feeling like it so we could deliver the grandsons gifts and try to have some similance of a normal Christmas, nope, kept getting worse, so last night my breathing got very difficult while trying to sleep in my bed, so I moved to the living room, which is where my wife was sleeping also, it was the only way we could get comfortable. I have an inhalation therapy machine here, so I dont have to go to the hospital unless that doesnt work. I got a little rest after taking another dose of meds and seemed to be feeling a little better with the exception of the dry cough and achey joints. Around 1 pm I decided to eat some light lunch and this is when the scare came. I was about half way thoroug my lunch when I had the worst coughing spell I have ever had, all of sudden I couldnt catch my breath, my wife said that she came over to see what was wrong and I scared all three of them, she said I gasped one last time and went stiff on the recliner, I seem to remember my feet were twitching, and I hear the yelling and screaming at me. They thought I was playing around. I couldnt move for a minute and when I opened my eyes everything was spinning and I couldnt tell if I was sitting up or lying down, I heard Charlene yell loudly "Lewis, dont do that" and my oldest grand son was screaming Grandpa! Grandpa! After about 30 seconds my wits came back to me and I told her I wasnt playing around, I had coughed so hard for so long I emptied my lungs of oxygen and passed out. Everything is back to some similance of normal, but still got the cough and aches. Charlene said when she heard me gasp and quit breathing she thought I was gone. She cant get rid of me that easy.
  2. I checked this out on Snopes and it's for real! AMAZING, SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES: 1. AVOID CUTTING YOURSELF WHEN SLICING VEGETABLES BY GETTING SOMEONE ELSE TO HOLD THE VEGETABLES WHILE YOU CHOP. 2. AVOID ARGUMENTS WITH THE FEMALES ABOUT LIFTING THE TOILET SEAT BY USING THE SINK. 3. FOR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE SUFFERERS ~ SIMPLY CUT YOURSELF AND BLEED FOR A FEW MINUTES, THUS REDUCING THE PRESSURE ON YOUR VEINS. REMEMBER TO USE A TIMER. 4. A MOUSE TRAP PLACED ON TOP OF YOUR ALARM CLOCK WILL PREVENT YOU FROM ROLLING OVER AND GOING BACK TO SLEEP AFTER YOU HIT THE SNOOZE BUTTON. 5. IF YOU HAVE A BAD COUGH, TAKE A LARGE DOSE OF LAXATIVES. THEN YOU'LL BE AFRAID TO COUGH. 6. YOU NEED ONLY TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE. 7. IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. O.K. So I didn't check it out with Snopes.
  3. I pulled my K&N filters off tonight after realizing they hadn't been pulled to be cleaned in say (cough cough) 20 or 30,000 miles.. ouch.. But looking at them.. I'm wondering if it was just the right time or premature or waaaay too late, hard to tell.. As the air comes into the box, it seems only the immediate area in front of the inlet hole is dirty while the rest of the filter looks pristine.. SO clean it's still fresh pink with oil.. SO weird. It might not show well in the photo but just that small area has dirt on it (albeit a lot) but the rest of the filter is looking darn new.. How often do you clean YOUR K&N? Cheers
  4. Just got off the phone with Mark, builder of the after-market collector for the VR, and what an awesome guy. It is apparent this guy knows his way around the Yamaha V engines and was a heck of a conversationalist as well. I should have a new collector for my bike within three weeks and then the madness begins bbaaawwaahhahhhaaaa ,,,cough cough cough
  5. Well its been just over a week since I sent out my seats to Mr Butler and they finally arrived today, now if I could just get out of work, cough cough lol. Just cant wait to get them mounted tonight and take her for a spin. Had a question for the guys who have had the mod done, is the difference something you feel right away or am I gonna need a long cruise to really feel the difference? I ride about 65 miles one way to work everyday and not that the seat is uncomfortable but would love it to be more comfortable. Please let me know your input and thanks in advance!!
  6. My Dad is looking to sell his 2000 RK with 31k on it. Very clean, black, fuel injected, all the fun stuff like LED mirrors with integrated turn signals, removable sissy bar, air horn, extra lighting on the rear, blah blah blah. He wants to buy a new Road Glide or Street glide... If I'm not mistaken he said $8500 would make him happy. I'd be all over it, but I can't cough up the dough. I'll try to get a classified ad in here today, it's located in Richlands, NC 28574. It looks just like this one, but Dad's has stock pipes. http://images01.olx.com/ui/2/91/83/f_23678883_1.jpeg
  7. We are back from our trip down south (for the Ulysses Club rally and AGM.) First week we spent setting up the gearshop, and second week we spent 9-5 selling the merchandise! All went well--sold $12,000 on first day, and same again on second one. Weather really hot during the week and the leg swelled badly. That wasn't the worst of it though 'cause I got sick starting in the first week!!!!! Diagnosed with (wait for it) ADULT WHOOPING COUGH have damn near coughed myself inside out Dr. said it's also called the "100 day cough" Oh, goody Geez, I would just like to deal with one thing at a time!! Hope everyone is doing okay over there, did I miss anything exciting????????
  8. My new RSV has been sitting in the garage for 3 weeks since I bought it waiting for me to finish a huge work project and today is the day!!! It is going to be an awesome day here in Western NY and she is idling in the driveway right now. Its 44 degrees currently and it will only get warmer. WAHOO!!!! See ya on the flip side!
  9. I would like to formally introduce to you the Vroom Vroom Crew. This is a newly formed group operating out of Laporte, MN. Coordinating this fine crew of professionals (cough...cough....BS....cough...cough) is Mr. Owl. Diligent and persistant this gentleman (cough...cough....BS....cough...cough) is, and a champion at multi-tasking. He can work on 2 bikes at one time while smoking a cig and drinking a Ginger Ale and bandaging a cut finger! Secondly we have Mr. Gary. His hospitalty is immeasurable and candid humor is remarkable. Working side by side with Mr. Owl, these two are a dynamic duo in every sense of the phrase. They assess your problem and incoporate an intense system of research to find methods of correcting that problem. When the challenges before them prove to be too tough, they call in reinforcements from their Canadian Team, Rick & Marilyn. Though a little OCD over clean hands before touching, they get down in the dirt and get down to business. Watching this team of experts (cough...cough....BS....cough...cough...) is truly a sight to behold. Crow & I were inoccent (cough...cough....BS....cough...cough) bystanders in this menagerie of talent but I have to tell ya, if you want to spend the day sitting in front of your TV watching the big game or on the lake waiting for that great catch, go on, do that. But I have to tell you, watching this great team go through 4 pots of coffee, ponder an issue for hours at a time, render potshots that will leave you speechless or wet from laughing so hard. then add at the end of the day, well, okay, 11:00pm, hugs all around before saying good-bye, there's nothing better than that! Thanks guys for trying to fix Ol' Girl. It wasn't meant to be but we had an awesome time trying! By the way folks.......... Windshields, bolts, brakes, and whatever else they came up with..........are overated! Love y'all, Brandi
