  1. Hope everything works out for ya. Glad to help.
  2. Valve stems hell!!
  3. JB, well I'll be d^%^$#@; you're back. Good to see (read) you're here. For those that set you off complaining about either the cost or the quality, let them either make their own or find their own. Bunch of cry babies anyway. Also, for all others, I, too, installed a set of cables JB made and my slow starting problem is a past thing. Good upgrade with excellent larger capacity cables. TTYL JB.
  4. I want to kick in to help so as soon as I know where and how to send I will. MG
  5. It's not as bad as it looks. But, even with the shaking at idle, who goes anywhere "at idle". Silly arguement to me. I ride my Harley when I want to go in style and my lst Edition when I have to be there quickly. Everyone should own both. I, however, have an American Standard mount on only one of em.
  6. No it is not! Newer models have had fuel injection since the late 90's. Other updates include a cd with 40 watt per speaker at that, six speed transmissions, wide tires, ABS, better plastics, different frames, larger motors, a cylinder c/o system to reduce idling heat, better paint schemes than any other manufacturer, etc. Need I go on? The success of HD is based on frequent updates a proven marketing design. And my Ultra doesn't shake eyeballs out at a red light and is just a smooth or smoother than a 2d Edition at any speed. No it is not as fast but it doesn't have any whine at all either. And talk about aftermarket accessories. I am not a great fan of HDs even though I do own one nor am I a fan of any motorcycle company that now relies on the HD styling to sell their bike. Besides the V-8 and inline four have been around a lot longer that the HD VTwin design so what's up with that??!!
  7. What's the problem? No hl at all or what?
  8. Hey VentureBob, I'm shooting you a PM.
  9. Could the vacuum boost sensor been left disconnected? Sounds like it may have been.
  10. Not much of an auto a/c guy, but my 2001 Ford F150 was doing something very similiar. Truck has just had some front end repair at a body shop done and replacing the condensor was one of the items replaced. Of course, they had to recharge the system. Problem: Freon filled to way, way over capacity, how much overfilled, is anyone's guess. Drained/released some of the R-134 and problem solved. Hope this helps.
  11. Sounds to me like you have a battery and/or battery charging issue. Either your battery needs replaced or something has gone south in the charging system (battery, stator or rectifier). You can review the steps for diagnosing the problem found in the Repair Manual here on this site. Good luck.
  12. You're kiddin, right? Heck, around these parts you have to keep an eye on your underware hanging on the cloths line.
  13. This is seen quite frequently in SE Asia. Nothing new here! 7, 8, or more on a small bike. When that is your only mode of transportion, you do what you must (add more air to the tires).
  14. Does anyone have a set of good Bub's, Jardines or ????? pipes for a 1st Edition and willing to part with em? Just added the Ventureline light bar that mounts below the bags and where the stock mufflers now dump the exhaust barely, and I do mean barely, are below the bottom of the light bar. Looks silly. First I thought I'd just out bid someone on fleabay for a set of those chrome dual downturned muffler extensions but seems like there will never be another set up for bidding. Even checked CL. Even posted here to see if anyone had a set they'd part with but so far no good. So, now I think the only way to go will be a set of after markets pipes/mufflers. Will pay whatever it takes. MG
  15. Gary, I also noticed after I sent you the above that the lenses on your light bar are really faded. I had the same issue with a light bar I just bought from Crimsom Knight. I just took a red Vis-a-Vis marks everything pen and recolored the inside. They now look brand new both when off and when lit. Just trying to be of some assistance. MG
  16. What I used to remove the glue residue left under the factory pin stripes was "Goo Be Gone". I soaked a folded up kleenex with the stuff and set it over the glue junk. After a few minutes I just rubbed it off with my finger. Good luck. MG
  17. Gary, My tank cover was coming loose or coming out of the rubber grommet in the front all the time. Happened with fair frequency. My front rubber grommet appeared to be serviceable but I purchased a new one anyway. When I compared the two, the new one was a lot more solid and not so pliable. Once installed, my tank cover has not come loose again. Buy a new grommet and you will solve the issue.
  18. Then it must be all the g-forces created by those V-Max goodies making it come loose.
  19. The rubber gasket that the tab on the front of the faux tank cover sets in is either missing or has deteriorated to such a degree that it is ineffective in holding the cover on. The grommet is located just in a couple inches in front of the battery. It is oval shaped. Cost about $10 from Yamaha.
  20. Air horns may be louder but I hate them, they're hidious. Thanks anyway, my stockers are good enough for me.
  21. Does anyone have one of those chrome plastic 1st edition horn covers? Some scumbag lifted one off my scooter today. I will gladly pay handsomely or trade for ???? if I happen to have what you need. I would highly appreciate your help. Thanks MG
  22. What is a BWM?
  23. Any RSV that leaves me behind couldn't possibly be stock.
  24. Man WH, this condom is way too big.
