I live in the United State of Texas; Aledo, Texas. Miles and miles of scenic open roads through the hill country. Good weather most of the time and a great place to live if you live to ride.

Jardine Slipons (Sure!)
MasterGuns replied to MasterGuns's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Well ladies and gentlemen; I must report that I finallly had the time to finish installing the Jardines. While I was at it, I also installed a K&N air filter, new plugs, new Avons and even had the wheels with the new tires balanced. Took it out for a test and, WOW, what a difference. This thing is kinda scary now. The increase in power to the real wheel is absolutely incredible. And rejetting doesn't seem to be necessary are the plugs look great after 100 miles or so. And the sound! When under hard accelleration, it sounds like a small block Chevy with headers. Well, that is what it reminds me of anyway. One problem with the whole setup; now I sometimes can get the clutch to slip in 4th and 5th gear. Didn't slip before and all I can attribute the slippage to is the added power. So, I have just ordered a Barnett kit and will be installing that as soon as it arrives and I have the time. I just wanted to let everyone know how great these pipes are. See ya! -
Oil Filter Adapter
MasterGuns replied to ctraylor's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I don't believe there is a pressure regulator in the bolt and there isn't any kind of a pressure regulation device in the Rivco spin on adaptor either. -
Depends on how bad you want better health and more $$; to be serious.

Jardine Slipons (Sure!)

When I was quiting I did so cold turkey. Everytime I thought I could go no longer without a smoke, I ran three miles. After putting in about 250 miles daily for the first couple weeks, I was admitted to the hospital for severe life threatening dehydration and shinsplints so bad that my lower legs were swollen to three times their normal size. Since I was hospitalized for about a month and they wouldn't let me smoke while there, I finally was discharged as a non-smoker. Been that ever since. Outta try it!

Jardine Slipons (Sure!)

Denden, That sounds good to me. I'll most likely do the same thing. How bout jetting? Did you have to rejet and if so, to what? -
Jardine Slipons (Sure!)

I just placed the order for the gasket with what you guys refer to as Yammamama; I guess that's the dealer. And you were right, they are 12 something each. I just hope they get here quickly. Anyway, I will let everyone know not only about the jetting, but the doggone centerstand. Since I don't have the Jardines on yet, I was even aware that the center stand being another issue. I did, however, notice the rubber stops for the center stand that sort of "plug into" special brakets on the Jardines (and the stock pipes for that matter) are about 3/4 inch thick. Have you tried cutting them down to create more clearance? I will be looking to do exactly that. Have a good one and keep the greasy side down. -
Jardine Slipons (Sure!)

OMG! I sure did. Are these gaskets copper colored? I don't imagine I could use the old ones. That is if I could even remove them from the old mufflers? But never the less, I sure do appreciate your help. I just looked up the part number for the gaskets and will be ordering them in the morning. Again, thank you so much. -
I need the advise from someone withe experience with installing these slipons. Just returned from the garage where I thought I would "slipon" my new set of Jardines. As you would have it, nothing is that easy. The problem I have encountered is that the od of the collector where the stock muffler attaches is what I measured to be 1 1/2 inch and the id of the Jardine seems to be about 1 3/4". Therefore, if these slipons are really slipons; too bad they will fall the hell off. Someone must have run into the same problem and can tell me there is a simple solution. What I am thinking is to try to insert a spacer that would reduce the id by 1/4 inch. Seems like the reducer would come with the Jardines. Has anyone run into the same problem and how did you handle it? Any advise would be greatly appreciated .

There "is" such a thing as a former smoker. I quit in 1982 and will never put another cigarette or cigar to my lips. Good luck and just remember the benefits are endless. More health and lots more extra bucks to spend on the sled.

I had what I thought was the same problem with a collector but when I finally pulled it off, it was cracked, not rusted. I took it to a welding shop experienced in welding stainless steel. But before I did so, I cut it open and removed all the baffling because it also had a loose baffle that was adding to the racket. Came out real nice. Now that the baffle and crack are repaired, the bike is much quieter and runs better than stock. I hated this approach to repair but with a new collecter at almost 400.00 from a dealer, this was the most logical. Only cost 15.00 and about 3 or so hours of work. Don't notice any change in mpg but I really don't care.

Oil Filter Change
MasterGuns replied to r_squared432's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just replaced the factory setup with a Rivco spin-on adaptor and use a top of the line Fram 3614; about $2.50 or so at Wallyworld. What an improvement. Only takes 20 seconds to change the filter and for much less. No more stip oil filter bolts or time spent looking for that damn spring. I've been on these Ventures since 83, thats 24 years and wish I had added this feature long ago. -
I am about to install what I consider a unique exhaust collector on my 88. I is custom built by Mark's Pipes out in Hisperia, Ca (I think anyway). Has anyone known anyone to install this custom after market exhaust collector or perhaps done so themself. This ceramic coated collector elimates the box-type baffled collector and connects them to the exhaust with exhaust the same diameter as the exhaust headers. This collector allows each exhaust header to be directly connected to the exhaust. Should be a great improvement in the air flow. Does anyone have any information pertaining to this product and other modifications that had to be performed, i.e, jetting? Help.

stator change
MasterGuns replied to MikeM8560's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
R/R of a stator is pretty simple and doesn't require one to be a master wrench. I've done several for various reasons and haven't run into any problems yet. A common problem that one may encounter is a faulty seal at the point where the stator/pickup coil wires run through the side cover. Pay particular attention to this area when reassembling. Should be a pretty much straight forward project; maybe two to three hours. Good luck MasterGuns
