  1. I know this is a Venture board; I own one. And you know what, the HD boards that I do have membership on, I rarely, and I mean rarely, read any Jap bike bashing. Check that out. Hey, I like the "Top" thing too. I salute you and your service as well. Keep the shiny side up. Semper Gumby is what life is about.
  2. Hey Who Dey, Dude, believe it, I have never been let down by any Harley I've owned and that is more than I can remember. I've also owned several VRs as well as many others. I have new had any of them leave me stranded with the exception of a few flats. But a flat doesn't kill your travels if you are prepared. AND, even for an oil change, my local HD shop will pick it up, do the work, and redeliver it back to my place and the charge is exactly the same if I rode it down the their facility for the work (49.99). When I stop by the HD dealer while here in Fort Worth on my VR I am treated respectfully and there are never any offensive comments even by other HD riders. I am sure it is because the know me. But even though I am regular at the local Yamaha dealer; if I happen to run down there on my Harley, they treat me like crap. Then they have the audacity to ask me if I'm in the market for a new Venture. This tells me a lot about how they think. When I do decide to pick up a new Venture after some real upgrades are made to it, I surely won't buy from Family Power Sports in Weatherford, Texas
  3. d Bikers bash Harleys all the time. They claim HDs are not reliable and leave you stranded all the time. Well, I've had all kinds of HDs since I was a young man and the only time I was left standed was when I rode a HD Sprint 350 twin when I was 14 years old and ran out of money and gas about 250 miles from home. Was in a world of hurt when I finally got home. Have never had one of my HDs breakdown, unlike some of the posts I read on this site concerning models discussed here. But, I also own a brand new looking 86 VR that I wouldn't take any amount of money for. Why? Because I love this specific bike as well. Go ahead and take a test ride on the new Ultra and I bet you love it and there will be no need for the extended warranty. But buying the greatest looking original style of bike the Harley Ultra represents will cost you big bucks. Am I partial to HDs; no I'm not. I just take some of the ridiculous comments on this site too seriously. Regards,
  4. Everybody makes fun of Harley's but in my experience if they could, they'd have one. Guess what, they don't whine, don't have cassettes, are fuel injected and the newer Venture kinda were designed to look like them, just cheaper copies. I, too, couldn't resist.
  5. Sure he isnt on a RB?
  6. The final drive belt on my Ultra has over 30 k miles and looks as good as new. Interesting. And not a bit of whining anywhere, too?
  7. OMG, 1956 was 54 years ago. You are right though, they are IMHO one of the most beautiful every made and they do sound great; not tinny like ??????
  8. This is absolute BS. I've owned Harleys since the the early 60s and never had one towed or trailered due to it breaking down. I've also owned a hellofa lot of foreign made and I can't say the same for those. As a matter of fact, if my HD ever needs to go to the shop, they will pick it up for FREE and deliver it back to my home for free. Show me a Yamaha dealer that will do that.
  9. I want one that views the asphalt underneath.
  10. Exactly where is the Reserve Lighting Unit mounted anyway? I know where I can get a spare to carry with me, even though I have driving lights I could use in the event of a RLU malfunction. And, what is a fair price to pay for this thing?
  11. Yeah that or pull it in an enclosed trailer.
  12. Dude, you have your rear view mirror mixed up with your windshield. :rotfl:
  13. I live in Aledo, Texas and work in Las Colinas, Texas; a 50 mile ride one way. I'd love to ride one of my scooters to work but for this very reason, tail gaters, I don't. Even if I can move one lane to the right (or left) and wave the tailgating turd by, the next fool behind him or the fool behind me in the lane that I managed to safely move to, tailgates me as well. Even though both of my scooters have bags and a trunk, I couldn't carry enough ball bearings with me. Hell, I've been rear ended 6 times in the last 10 years while in a pick up or car. I decided long ago taking two wheels to work in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex just too dangerous, just too many dirt bags that don't know what courteous and/or safe driving is.
  14. Dano, You're correct; 194 wedge bulb is what I need times 24. Once I get home I'll check out the ebay thing recommended. I'm blocked here at work - barracuda
  15. bump
  16. I believe the wedge bulbs that are in the Venture Line trunk and bag light bars, 1st Edition anyway, are 194's. Has anyone found a good source for buying these bulbs. The only outlet I can find is superbrightleds.com and each bulb from them is 1.98. I need only 24 of these things and really don't think they are worth $2 each. Any other recommended sources? Thanks MG Type of wedge bulb above corrected from 198 to 194.
  17. Or make it continuous!
  18. Rain; what's that?
  19. Yeah, especially those dang 1st Gens. :rotf:
  20. Are you kiddin! The first bike my 125 lb 18 year old daughter learned, or better said, learning to ride is an 813 pound Harley Davidson Ultra. She also would like to ride my lst Edition but her legs are way too short.

  22. Just installed a set of brand new Macs this weekend. Was a real PITA to get them mounted properly; had to build some custom hangers to make em work. Found them on fleabay and made the seller an offer he couldn't refuse. Sure do look good and you're right, the sound is mellow, not loud and obnoxious, just mellow. But under WOT, kinda reminds me of a high revving small block Chevy. Good luck finding anything aftermarket; keep an eye out for em on ebay.
  23. What a great bunch of people. Reminds me of the camaradery I was once part of while serving in "The Corps". Get well LA and take care of yourself when you do.
  24. Looks like the beginning of that 3d Generation everyone's been dreaming about.
