  1. So I thought I'd continue my search into automatic bikes... I've looked at the can-am spyders, ridleys, and the suzuki gs450ga from the 80's I can't really find alot of info on the automatics. Wanting something that is comfy on trips, could be triked and good for around town. It will be sometime before we could invest in it but hey if we know better what to hunt for makes it easier.
  2. I have been in helmet shopping hell for the last few weeks. My RF1000 has had it after 7 years and with the RSV being more comfy I have noticed a lot more pain trying to do a little longer rides. I was really hoping to get into a modular helmet. First I ordered the Scorpion Exo 900 modular. Great helmet...feels solid, nice fit and finish with great features. But the 3xl was too small front to back and my chin touched the chin bar. Second was a Icon Aliance in 3xl. Not a modular but great price at 160.00. Still a great looking helmet and would have been great but too snug and more for a round shaped head. We found an Arai Profile in xl and RX-Q in 2xl. The Profile was too small but crazy comfy and probably would be great in a 2xl. The RX-Q in 2xl did actually fit pretty well. The problem with these two was price (Profile 480.00) (RX-Q 525.00). I don't mind the dough but I am still hoping to find a modular someday. So after seeing a review on the new RF1100 I liked the 5 different shell sizes, venting, improved sealing and removable liner. Found it locally in 3xl(hair too big) and xl (hair too tight). Looks like the Qwest is a cruiser version of the RF1100, venting changed for upright position and non removable liner. The Qwest comes in cheaper at 315.00. I decided to order the RF1100 in Metallic Black, 415.00 from Revzilla. Good service and awesome helmet. It's early yet, only have a quick 50 mile ride on it but no hotspot at all. Nice padding and washable liner. Even has nice pockets molded in for headset speakers. It seems to be quiet and possibly good airflow (hard to tell behind the windshield). When I poke my head out of the air bubble I can feel air moving. Fit and finish are excellent, the visor is like butter and you can feel it suck shut when closed. So if you have a larger hard to shape head, give this a go. I see lots of comfy miles in my future. Frank

    New guy with questions

I have been riding motorcycles since I was 20 years old back in 1967. I have almost always ridden standard bikes like a Triumph Tiger 650, a BMW R79/6 (I think!) a Honda Shadow, and now a 2000 Sportster 1200 Custom. My wife no longer drives her own bike, and I have been selfish for the last few years and haven't given up my HD to get something she can ride on behind me. My search for a truly comfy bike has led here. Every review seems to say the same couple of things - the bike is super comfortable, smooth and powerful - and weighs a TON! I am 63 in pretty good shape, but am I getting in over my head here? I'm 6ft even, and weigh about 260. Can I handle this beautiful monster?
  4. Nice and snug in the Hampton in Effingham Illinois! Man, is this chair comfy, and we have nuker and fridge, all for $85 for the night. Got here about a half hour ago or so, and are giong out for diner in an hour or two. Hope everyone else is OK and comfy if they are still on the road. No problems other than a little traffic jam in St. Louis, and stopping at the 6 flags exit for late lunch wasn't that great of an idea due to traffic...
  5. on a Vmax Website ... A Member there was thinking about Solutions to make the Wife more comfy and happy ... P.S. don't show that to your Gal's, you might need to purchase a new Ride soon ...
  6. Finally got my Long Horn Offsets, Were on BO for awhile. I'm mounting them on my 93, and was wondering if anyone had mounted these on a 1st Gen before. They seem to have all the possible adjsutment anyone could want and I know I can find a comfy place for them, but would like to do it once if possible. Any photos would be appreciated. Thanks, Dan
