    Venoms are, but not in the stock size on the front tire.. I went with the one size smaller front, which makes the bike handle a bit quicker. Some people don't like it, but having moved to touring from sport bike I like the feel. Also the WWW Avons have higher load ratings than either the 404 or Brickstone stock tires Yamaha uses. I believe they have higher load ratings than most other tires the same size. I have no complaints in wet or dry, but I long ago lost my desire to be aggressive on a bike and generally ride so mellow I never actually had any problem on the stock Brickstones, other than they were so noisy they gave me headaches.

    First, if you have been charging it at 10 amps you may have ruined the battery.. Lead acid batteries should not be charged at a rate more than 10% their total amp hour rating. Stock battery is only rated for 18Ah. And they aren't very good batteries to start with. The dealer is full of ##it,. The charging system on the Venture is pretty weak and will not handle much added load (ie: if you run passing lamps and heated gear at the same time you will kill the battery) but it will recharge a battery on a stock bike. Now that said, the bike's electronics will slowly drain the battery if the bike just sits. Turning the key off does not disconnect the battery from everything. I bought a second battery for my 07 last summer. I put the tender on the spare battery, if the battery in the bike gets weak from sitting I swap them.

    When traveling I use a bag in the trunk but not in the side bags. Half or more of the stuff in the side bags, like rain gear, microfiber towels, extra tools and such, never go into the room. When just running around town or doing day trips I don't use any inner bags.

    I wouldn't paint it, because I think it is a really cool color. As far as money, the MM retails for about $400 more than a non-MM 2000 RSV. Now if you could find someone that wanted that color, and was willing to go through the trouble of swapping side covers, fenders, lowers, bags and trunk, you could end up with a different color for just the time it takes to do it.

    Assuming it is carb issues and not spark issues, other than the possibility of the float being too low it could be the jets. Pilot jet and air screw have most effect on performance from idle to about 1/8 throttle. Shape of the throttle body cutaway has the most effect from about 1/8 to a little over 1/4 throttle. The needle has most effect from a little over 1/4 to about 3/4 throttle and the main jet is almost solely responsible for the performance from 3/4 to WOT. Seeing this is a 99, perhaps one or more of the main jets are corroded or damaged and not allowing full fuel flow. I had an older single that acted similar and I replaced the main jet and it cleared right up. Of course on an older single pulling the carb is fairly easy. Not so on the Venture, so if you decide to pull the carbs or if your have the jets replaced, you might as well replace the pilots with fresh jets too so you don't have to worry about having to do it ever again.

    Hmmm, for some reason the US Avon website is gone.. But the main UK factory website is still up and it still lists the proper tire.. 150/90/b15 80H,, The V portion of the rating on the 150/90/b15 74V is a speed rating and it is rated for faster use than the H, the 74 is the load rating. And that is the same load rating as the stock Dunlop 404 150/90-15 74H. 74 rating is up to 827 lbs 80 rating is up to 992 lbs. Because I ride a fair amount two up and loaded, (probably overloaded) I prefer the higher load rating. the H speed rating is for up to 130mph,, the V rating is up to 149mph.

    The Zumo 550 is very nice, I got mine last year when Best Buy decided to stop carrying them and closed them out for $450!! but about $639 is the best price I seem to be able to find on them now..

    I have also noticed by going to a few tire stores, that Germany produced Metz have "made in Germany" in a large and easy to read stamping on the side, the non-Germany produced tires have the "made in" stamp very small and hard to read!!!!

    Many people over here have had failure issues with the Metzlers, but from what I've been able to deduce the failures have been almost all non-German produced. But if I couldn't get Avons I would go with the Michelin.

    My criteria for bike vs car has always been sit on or sit in!!! Most ATVs even though they have 4 wheels, I consider bikes. Sit in, with a steering wheel, definitely a car.

    Just from my observation of comments about the seats over a few years I would say if you in general prefer soft seats, I would try out a pillow top to start with and see how if works for you. Works great for me. If it doesn't work out go to a Russell, or a Rick Mayer seat. If you prefer firmer seats go with a Corbin, but don't order one from a warehouse store where it may have been sitting a long time and could have dried out. It won't be firm then, it will just be hard.

    IMHO, stop and go and parking lot slow speed handling is somewhat heavy, but still better than a Goldwing or BMW LT. Very roomy and comfortable for both rider and passenger. Stereo system and intercom electronics are not the best. EPA rules change for 2010, I do not believe the current Venture configuration will pass the 2010 requirements. If not, they will either have to fuel inject it, or drop it.

    Are you planning to stay in the Keys a day or two, or just take a day trip from Pompano Beach..??? If you are planning to stay, Conch Republic Seafood Co. http://www.conchrepublicseafood.com/ in Key West has some great food, but that is about 200 miles from Pompano Beach, and most of that you cannot go very fast. Probably about 4 hours one way best time. Also a good place to stay is the Limetree Bay Resort. http://www.limetreebayresort.com/ and there is a great Italian restaurant right next door to it. Also a strange and interesting place to visit is Robbie's http://www.robbies.com/ they have fishing charters, boat rentals, a good fruit smoothie bar, a place to hand feed the tarpon, and attack pelicans. That is where we took the fishing charter last year and Mary caught a 200lb nurse shark.

    Mine was almost non-existent when new, got pretty loud at about 4k miles, I switched to Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10w-40 Synthetic for motorcycles. That seem to quiet it right down.. Since, it seems to get a little louder just before oil changes, then quiets back down after the change.

    Try resting you index and ring fingers on the front brake lever. It forces you hand to relax, and in an emergency you are already set to put on the front brake.

    I wear wick dry bicycle shorts, and a wick dry Nike tank-top under my vented jacket and pants on long rides in the summer.

    If she is complaining about the buffeting around her head, then the answer could be a Clearview windshield.. http://clearviewshields.com/shop/product.php?id=65 I got the XXL with vent on my bike and my wife noticed a marked improvement over the stock windshield. It is wider and taller than stock.

    100 phone calls??? It is fairly new and still under warranty right? My Star service card is good until Jan 23 2012 (I have an 07) and it says it includes 24/7 roadside assistance.

    Other than if you buy an 06 or newer you will automatically get what is left of the 5 year unlimited mileage warranty, there is no real difference. I think the 09s come standard with the CD changer, but not sure.
