OK, I ordered the Metric Signal Stabilizer, and so far I'm not happier.. I tried to install it today, per the instructions, it made a whining noise and the signals still flashed too fast. So let me clarify my set up: First I added LEDs in addition to the stock bulbs to the back, signals still worked fine.. Second I replaced the front bulbs with LEDs and it started flashing fast. I installed the stabilizer under the seat connected to the back signal wires, because that is what the instructions say and I was under the impression that one stabilizer was for all four signals and it shouldn't matter where you install it. Is that correct or because the low load is on the front only do I need to install it on the front signal wires?

Considering there is a brake on that wheel, are you going to use a sliding tongue with the brake actuation rod attached to it so the trailer has brakes? Also, I'm not sure if light tongue weight has the same adverse effects on a one wheel trailer as on a two wheel trailer, as long as the tongue is not lifting up on the bike.

That is how I did it on my last bike, but it had shim under bucket (SUB) and I had to remove the cam, so I just waited until I got the new shims to put it back togeather.. Back on my old Seca's first valve adjustment, after I measured and knew which needed to be replaced, I pulled every shim, wrote down its size and where is was, then put the bike back together and rode it until the new shims arrived. After that, because I had written down what size was in every spot, I could just pop the valve cover, measure and and know what size to order. funny thing was, I waited until well past the normal time for that first valve check on the Seca and most of them needed to be adjusted, at the same time I added an oil cooler. After that, through many miles and several checks, it never needed an adjustment again. But I still think it was a good idea.

Depends on what you are use to,, I had dirt bikes and standard or sport 750 road bikes for years before getting the RSV, I didn't mind the heavier feeling of the handling, but now with the 130 I like it much better, and the high speed stability still seems better to me than that of several of my old shorter wheel based 750s. To me with the 150 the bike wants to go straight and to make it turn is a fair amount of effort, but with the 130 it feels neutral, which means unless I am paying attention it may wander, but when I want it to turn, it doesn't fight me. But then some really don't like the way the 130s feel.

I have thought about getting a trailer a couple of times, but with all the other things to worry about when riding I think I'll live with taking less stuff on trips.

I got one like this for my XM. http://www.myradiostore.com/mounts-brackets-tools/motorcycle-mounts/premier-universal-motorcycle-mount.html . but of course since I just canceled I will be removing it soon,, I never use it on the bike since I got a Zumo 550, I just use the built in MP3 player.

Time for a new Helmet... Need a good store in NE
hig4s replied to Reaney in NH's topic in Watering Hole
Do you get down to Hartford much? Cycle Gear has a store in Manchester just North of Hartford.. They don't always have the best prices, but a good place to try on a bunch of different helmets, and if they don't have a good deal, you at least know what you want and can look on the internet for the same model. -
Fuel reserve question
hig4s replied to TheBreeze's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
+1 the computer doesn't know when you move the switch, and it will say you are on reserve at the same point either way.. Mine says I am on reserve, about 5 miles before I actually have to switch it over. (I usually switch it when the computer says instead of when I really need it so I don't have to reach for it in traffic with a sputtering bike.) I do switch it back when I fill up, I guess just out of years of habit with bikes that had no gas gauges or bikes with unreliable gas gauges. -
I've had XM for several years, the last two the signal strength doesn't seem to be as good as it use to be, I get way more drop outs than I use to. And I also do not like the new merged programming,, my bill came to day, I canceled today.

Confession: My wife found some thongs hidden in my drawer!

HEY!!! what happens at MTA stays at MTA!! -
Same here on my 07, and I reminded the shop to grease everything while the tire was off, but I wasn't there to see them do it and keep thinking I should check myself.. But so far I don't have a lift or a center stand to do it.

Confession: My wife found some thongs hidden in my drawer!
hig4s replied to BEER30's topic in Watering Hole
I agree with the attitude of avoiding sandals and flip flops!!! I spend a lot of time at home barefoot, but I will wear Velcro aqua shoes , or mesh running shoes (untied), or slip on deck shoes when I can't safely be barefoot. But NO thongs!! -
Just a thought, but if you take off the weights, where will you rest your right hand when you have the cruise control activated. Sometimes I rest my hand in my lap or on my leg, but usually even when I have the cruise on I want my hand on the handlebars, so I rest the heel of my palm on the bar end weight so I don't influence the cruise by restricting its control of the throttle.

Need WWW tires for Venture
hig4s replied to YamaDuck's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The narrow Avon WW tires are a 130,, only 8 tenths of an inch narrower, and it has a higher load rating than anyone elses 150 I've looked at. It make the front end feel lighter, I think it makes the bike feel like it handles much better. -
OK, I looked it up,, a bit pricey (I could probably get a couple of 7.5 ohm 5 watt resistors from Radio Shack for $5, but not sure I'd be happy with the wiring I'd have to do to make that work) and I cannot tell by the description and installation instructions if this will take care of the whole bike, or if you need one for the front and one for the rear.. It has four wires, and the instructions say one is ground, one is keyed 12v, one is left rear signal wire, and one is right rear signal wire.. Seeing as it is my front signals that now have no load, I'm wondering if this would still be the correct way to wire it for me.

RF1000 helmets are one of the more difficult to install the head set and mic,, Because of that, and how much they cost, I sent mine off to J&M and let them do it. Not cheap, but if they screw it up, they replace the helmet. Here are pics of how it looks installed by them.

That is the point, but I both bulbs and LEDs in the back and the fast flash does not let the bulbs light all the way up, they just get dim and go back off.

No real rush,, what type of unit is it, and when and where in Florida will you be here.

+1 people, lets not jump off the cliff about some hyped up partial report about something that may or may not be happening. And if it should be happening, discussing how you feel about the law itself, and what to do about it does not necessarily need to be political, as long as we do it without insulting either political party, any group of people like conservatives or liberals. Leave out the disparaging remarks, name calling and innuendo aimed at any person or group and it should be possible to discuss political subjects with out actually becoming political.

I upgraded my front turn signals to LEDs and now they flash faster than normal.. Knew it might happen.. Wondering if this http://www.customled.com/products/flasher_relay/flasher_relay.htm will work on the Venture, and still keep the auto cancel feature.. I've read somewhere non-load dependent replacement flasher won't work with auto cancel signals??? Or would I be better off just getting the 7.5 ohm load. http://www.customdynamics.com/loadequalizer.htm
