  1. As far as Hannigan conversions, the BMWs always look the sweetest IMHO,, and of course HD sells two models of trikes now. Hannigan conversion color matched with all the options is going to be around $12K to $14k installed, plus what you spend on the bike, which new Wings start at $23k for base, up to $27k for all options. And of course some dealers will argue they void the bike's warranty. A new Tri Glide Ultra Classic with standard ABS MSRP starts at $30k $31k with reverse. Now I do prefer the engines on the Yamaha, Honda, and BMW, but with the warranty considerations and price of conversion not making them any cheaper, if I was ready for a trike I would definitely look at the Harley.
  2. Adding air pressure makes the bike handle a little lighter and quicker, but is not as plush.. most Ventures come from the dealer with 0 psi both front and rear.
  3. I bought a chrome tank cover and liked the look, but since have bought a Clearview shield and with the more swept back angle of the Clearview the chrome reflects right in the viewing path, so I have put the black one back on.. Anyone looking to get a chrome one, I'll let this one go cheap, it is just sitting on the shelf in my garage.
  4. here is the stock Yamaha ad pic from 1999 and it appears to have a pillowtop seat www.cmelectronica.com.ar/Galerias/Fotos/1990/Yamaha-XVZ1300TF-RoyalStarVenture-1999.jpg But you are correct about the MM it was not a pillowtop, but I believe it's seat had more padding then the studded Midnight seat.
  5. Midnights came with non-pillowtop studded seats through 06, then all RSVs got pillowtops in 07. Dang, I took a couple minutes to look it up to be sure be for I hit enter!!
  6. I plan on going to the trackside vendors and to Destination Daytona on Friday, looking for a decent price on Longhorn Dually offset highway pegs. Of course I plan on being at First Turn Saturday.
  7. If you want to get PICKY!!!! An allergy is not defined as a sickness. And even if you have not allergic reaction to a flu shot, it can make you ache as you immune system kicks in to create the anti-bodies.
  8. Well, why I'm not exactally cheap, I'm too cheap to do that.. But if you haven't seen anyone set up that way by next summer, I will probably be up that way visiting my sister in Harrisonburg.
  9. Urban legdends, you can't get sick from a flu shot, they use dead influenza viri, but it still makes your immune system create anti-bodies.
  10. Kite, have you done a side by side comparison yet. I know the LED brake light I added made a huge difference. The stock tail light is almost invisible on a bright sunny day, and the brake light not that great either, now the tail light is quite easy to see even on a sunny day and anyone the doesn't see the brake light is really not paying attention.. Matter of fact, I pulled in at home one night after dark and my son and some of his friends were sitting out front talking. One of his friends was leaning against my son's car facing the garage. As the brake lights came on when I stopped I heard him say "Whoa". I looked in the mirror and he had his arm up covering his eyes. I'm happy with my LEDs!!!!!
  11. +1,,, we have a guy here at work who owns a Honda VTX1300, and he trailers it to Myrtle Beach and Daytona Beach every year for those bike weeks. 350 miles from his house to Myrtle Beach, and only 100 to Daytona Beach. One person who use to work here trailered his Goldwing from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach one year.
  12. Which version,,,, standard influenza A, the annual H1N1 or the 2009 H1N1..??? I had one version this summer, reduced my immune system and I ended up in the hospital with double viral pneumonia and on a respirator for 10 days. They are not sure because if you are not tested for influenza in the first 5 days they can not tell, and my family doctor did not test until I had been sick for 8 days. I got a new family doctor.
  13. For tail lights I got this http://www.customdynamics.com/Yamaha_tail_retro.htm and for front signals I got these LEDs. http://www.customdynamics.com/yamaha_turn_signal_retro.htm they stay bright all the time and blink off for signals.. Of course it needed a signal load equalizer or stablizer. for the front LEDs. I added the signal stablizer. http://www.customdynamics.com/loadequalizer.htm#Universal Turn Signal I the rear I left the stock signal bulbs. But I added "Quad" LED License Plate Frame w/ Amber Sides. It was a pain to do though. http://www.customdynamics.com/quad_license.htm
  14. Curious if they also block any of the wind noise, make it worse, or stays about the same?
  15. To start with you could push the forks up about an inch in the triple clamps, this effectively lowers the seat about a half inch, and is suppose to improve low speed handling. I must admit I have not tried it as I can reach flat footed.
  16. I was finding it hard to believe that the 2010 RSV was able to meet the new 2010 EPA standards without switching to fuel injection. But after thinking about it, seeing as it was released before the new standards take effect, I wonder if it has to meet them. I believe that as long as they stop production of the RSV prior to the new EPA standards going into effect, they don't have to meet them. ???? Anyone know for sure??
  17. I almost bought one instead of my RSV, almost as comfortable for me, more comfortable to my wife, better stereo, ABS, quieter, less wind noise, and just all around very nice to ride. They do have a fairly high rear drive unit failure, it is hard to tell really how many as BMW doesn't really let out this info. But if you peruse the http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/index.php? you will see quite a few people complaining about it, probably more than complain about the Royal Star whine. But that is not what stopped me, The fact that BMW is only 1% of the bikes sold in the US and has less dealerships than KTM is what stopped me. I use to own KTM dirt bikes, and have been out of town when they broke, finding a dealer and getting parts is just too much of a hassle on brands with limited dealerships. Harley, Honda, and Yamaha are respectively, 28%, 24% and 19% of the bikes sold, they have dealerships everywhere.
  18. The company I work for has IE as the standard but Firefox is not blocked.
  19. While I often just start the bike, put on my helmet and jacket and take off, the proper way is to wait until the radiator is warm to the touch (bare hand) before putting a load on an engine.
  20. I've been a member for many years, way back to my dirt racing days. The magazine is OK, the hotel and car rental discounts are sometimes usable, and the $39 a year I spend is more than off set by the discount in my motorcycle insurance rate. If everyone that rode joined, we would have a ton of clout in Washington. There are over 4 million registered motorcycles in the US, yet the AMA only has 165,000 members. Only 4% of motorcycle owners belong to the AMA. 28% of all motorcycles are Harleys, That is 1.1 million, and HOG has around 500,000 members, about 40% of the owners. think how much power the AMA would have if even 20% of all motorcycle owners joined.
  21. Seeing you are that far North, you should stop in for lunch at South Beach Bar and Grill Thursday or Friday. Great food. It is only 19 miles from Microtel. http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Palm+Coast&1s=FL&2c=Saint+Augustine&2s=FL&2a=45+Cubbedge+Rd&2z=32080#a/maps/l::16+Kingswood+Dr:Palm+Coast:FL:32137-4614:US:29.553641:-81.212437:address:Flagler+County:1/l::45+Cubbedge+Rd:Saint+Augustine:FL:32080-8191:US:29.768867:-81.252928:address:St.+Johns+County:1/m::8:29.661911:-81.262194:0:::::1:1:1::/io:1:::::f:EN:M:/e
  22. I've got a vented clearview and love it, but they are not cheap.. I actually got a blemished shield from them so it was a little cheaper, and I really don't see where the blemish is.
  23. Well, you could install the vent yourself if you don't really care about the Clearview windsheild. And you think you could cut the hole in your stock screen. It is a Honda Goldwing vent. 24. That is pretty much my routine, I get off first and fold down my back rest before my wife dismounts. Unless we are in a gravel or dirt parking lot, then I will stay on just in case the kick stand starts to sink into the ground.
  25. And why won't it turn completely off, mine does. I just hold down the CB button until it shuts off. If this doesn't work on your bike, it is under warranty, make them fix it!!!!
