Can you say 5 year unlimited mileage warranty? Actually they forgot to include rear speakers for the stereo and a CB as standard equipment also.

I get two full face helmets in my Venture trunk?? Wheel base is only .5 inch less, so probably has more room than an HD.
-
Actually I do believe you need an 80H rated tire because it seems the GVW rating is unrealistically low. With stock tires the total load allowed per the owners manual is 419lbs of rider, passenger and everything else that didn't come with the bike. Before I put anything in bags, the wife and I with riding gear on are over 350lbs.

It will be about .3 of and inch narrower and .6 of and inch shorter.. But the only Avon I see in that size is a sport bike tire. You probably will not get very good mileage with it.

I got 9000 on my stock Brickstones and had a couple thousand miles of tread left, I just couldn't stand them anymore. I love the new Avons. Haven't tried anything else.

1st gens were back in the 80s and looked more modern styled, and called Venture or Venture Royale.

Hmm, no I was riding an 82 Yamaha 750 Seca at the time, but I was living in Hawaii. Perhaps Yamaha did think it was worth sending touring ads to someone living on an island?

I put the Avon Venom MT90B16 WW 74H on my front WW=wide whitewall It is a little narrower than stock, but still in the proper size for the stock rim, and makes the bike handle better at slow speeds, plus has a higher load rating than the stock size. the Venom 150/90B15 80H rear (stock size) comes in both blackwall and wide whitewall.

My new ClearView Windshild
hig4s replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I did not mean to say they said it was not recommended. I meant to indicate they recommend Plexus over Rain-X but say Rain-X is fine. -
My new ClearView Windshild
hig4s replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
But, even though Clearview says you can use Rain-X, they do not recommend it. I do use pledge wipes, but I used those on my stock shield without any problems also. -
Soft Volume,, is controlled on screen.. press the wrench, then the volume box, and independently the radio/mp3 and/or the voice volume. Hard volume,, is controlled with the buttons on the left side of the unit, and only functions when in a powered mount. Press the bottom left (volume) button, a yellow volume bar graph will appear on the right side of the screen. use the + and - buttons on the left side of the unit to adjust.

I just removed mine to put in the BuddyRich Bluetooth cable for my Zumo. My XXL with vent has two holes and four slots also... \ My screws were all tight and my shield was firmly stuck to the rubber strip between it and the dash portion of the fairing.

Light colors help. I wear a Shoei RF1000 full face all the time and just live with the heat.. I do have a vented windshield and I only put the visor down on the helmet if it is raining or cold out. Jacket I wear a TourMaster Intake,, mesh with removable rain and insulated liners. Boots, not a clue, I have two pair, one tall water proof and one just over the ankle, but both are black and which ever foot is facing the direction of the sun, the top of it is always roasting.

Glad to hear you are alright, Sounds like we need to talk to Clearview and suggest they do NOT make their shields like the stock ones, and instead use holes in all 6 places!!! to make sure they remain secure. Edit: now that I think about it, I am about to pull the shield anyway to install my Zumo mic cable.. I'm going to get some silicon sealant and put that on all the screws to make sure they do not come loose and so they stick to the windshield.

No, you can keep the floorboards,, My RSV is the first bike I've ever owned with the heal/toe shifter and it took a little getting use to it but now I really like it.

I have the Shoei RF 1000, great helmet in all aspects except one, the ability to install intercom headsets. I figured it would be no problem, I'm pretty handy, but couldn't figure it out. So I called J&M and got a tech on the line and asked if he could help guide me. He said "Sure, we do it all the time. What kind of helmet is it?" I said "Shoei RF 1000. There was silence for a few seconds and he replied, "Ahh, that's a tough one, I recommend you send it in and let us do it. We warranty the work and if we screw the helmet up we will replace it". Seeing the Shoeis were not cheap to begin with, I sent them in. Long story short, we love the helmets, but with two helmets, intercom headsets and installation, they cost more than my wife's engagement ring. Sure, that was a long time ago, BUT STILL!

Saint Augustine Fl, (Nations oldest city) is very nice in Oct. lot of historic stuff to see. Lots of cool cruising along the ocean. (Very few curves and no hills though) About 700 miles from you. Usually the ocean is warm enough for swimming until almost Thanksgiving. Just South of St Augustine, right on the beach is a place called South Beach Bar and Grill, great food, relaxed atmosphere, shoes and shirts required after 5pm. Makes you feel almost like you're in the Keys. Of course the Keys are fantastic also, especially Lime Tree Bay Resort in Long Key, but that is another 400 miles.

There are a lot of truck drivers out there now days I doubt would have been able to stop. And some that wouldn't have tried. The professionalism in truck driving does not seem to me to be what is once was. But that being here nor there, with something as big as potentially as dangerous as a trucks I think the laws should be more closely enforced. But then, I think if they had done that previously with existing laws on the stunting motorcyclists no one would have bothered suggesting these new laws. And as far as not knowing enough about the vehicles around them on the road, I agree. I've never ridden in a tractor with a trailer attached, but I have been in trucks and have driven large dump trucks and garbage trucks so know what you mean. I would Venture to say about 50% of all drivers on the road really shouldn't have a driver's license at all. I still can't believe the state of Florida lets my daughter drive. You couldn't pay me enough to get back in a car with her driving. Another thing that shows just how dumb drivers are is ride in a train engine through a big city. Seen both cars and semis try to beat the trains. We had a video up in the Detroit CSX Safety office with a train taking the trailer right off a tractor. The train was only an engine and one car and was only doing 20mph, I guess the truck driver thought he could stop?

Personally I think the wheel looses contact with the ground is a crap law, just because a wheel comes up a couple inches during acceleration does not mean the person is speeding, is out of control, or is stunting. My old shaft drive Yamaha 750 from the early 80s would lift the front on a quick shift sometimes. Stunting on public roads should be dealt with, but this is over board. The 50 over is for all vehicles, but one of the penalties is to lose your motorcycle license for up to ten years. So if you go 50 over in a sports car and get caught you lose your motorcycle license but not you car license. More BS. License plates, I don't know why everyone insists on moving them anyway, including cruisers that insist on bobbing their fenders. But thousands of dollars for improperly mounted plates, I see cars with plates in the back window all the time, and occasionaly with a piece of cardboard that says "plates applied for" in crayon. What is the fine for that. As far as laws making this (or any country) a civilized country, that is a stretch. People become civilized then decide to make laws, not the other way around. Making more laws does not make us more civilized. And the whole illusion that these laws are to protect us is total BS. Semi-trucks and motorcycles have about the same number of fatalities each year. 90% of the motorcycle fatalities are the motorcycle operators. Only 10% of the truck fatalities are the operators. Florida has one of the worst semi-truck fatality rates of any state, yet they do nothing to protect us from trucks. Rarely do trucks get stopped for anything around here. And, including the .75 sec for reaction time, a modern sport motorcycle at 140mph can stop in about 450ft, a loaded semi-truck takes over 500ft at 70mph. and they constantly run 85 and 90 down I95. I've seen LEOs pass trucks doing 80 and not even signal them to slow down.

Venture has chrome discovers that cover all the holes in the front disc brakes, I don't know of any disc lock that will work unless you remove them. I sold my disc lock with my last bike and now just use a cable lock. Oh,, and glad to see you made it over here!!

I also have the Cleaview with vent.. Here in Florida a must.. makes a big difference. If you like to look through the windshield go ahead and get the XXL... it calms the air for the passenger a lot. The Clearview does shed rain better than the stock shield, but it still bothers some people. So if you need to be able to sit up and look over in in the rain you will probably need a med.

I just took a heavy rubber band and sewed it into a round piece of black denim.

RSV Seat Questions or Maybe Pants?
hig4s replied to ebat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
While I do have a back rest, because my back gets sore, I have gone over 500 miles no problem, but anytime I ride more than a couple hundred miles I dump the jeans and wear thigh length biking shorts under mesh riding pants.- 27 replies
