  1. Hi guys, what is the best adhesive to use to reapply the yamaha and venture royale emblems? Seems like the factory stuff was awesome and I'm afraid I'll lose them with this double sided tape I was pondering. Thanks!
  2. Ron and I took those extra precautions for our health this winter. We both got our Flu shots! Then our Granddaughter, daughter and our son in law came to visit for Christmas. We have both been sick since the 26th of December. Just when we thought we were getting better we both had a relapse. I am afraid to go out of the house. Every one around here is sick. How about you? Hopefully, it is just us. Yama Mama
  3. Hey, fellas. Today I built the bracketry to mount a first gen stand as per Freebird's excellent tech article. I have, however, run into something Freebird never encountered, and he suggested I post here to find out what to do. As you can see, the charcoal cannister has to come off to make room for the stand. Seems like connecting the 2 hoses together is probably the way to go, but I'm afraid it will change the way it runs. The cannister is vented to air, so should I put a tee down there? Any suggestions to keep me from messing things up would be appreciated!
  4. I purchsed the seat that Ed Rassmussen, pc009, had listed on the classifieds. I want to send out a public THANK YOU to Ed. The seat is fantastic. Doreen and i went for a short ride tonight and we both love it. The cloth seating area is very comfortable. It is even a slight bit larger and gived us each a little more room. I was afraid of driving the bike to work with the new seat since the only place to park it on a hard surface is under a very large pine tree. I was afraid of the needles and the sap falling on the cloth seat. It was difficlt enough to get the vinyl clean. But....while we were at a Menard's in Sioux Falls earlier today, I saw a cover designed for a power washer. I pulled it out of the box and it looked about the right size to fit the seat. Got it home and tried it on the bike and it fits!! It will cover from the front of the seat all the way over the trunk and rack. This was about half the price ($13.50) compared to one for a "motorcycle seat rain cover". Again, Thanks Ed, we will be enjoying the seat. Stay Safe, Dave
  5. I grew up with basic first aid because we back packed and hunted in remote areas. In the Air Force I was a security /police Law enforcement first responder. I always have a first aid kit on my vehicles. Tonight I had 2 wrecks that happened in front of me hours apart. Both were ugly I don't know what the cause was on either. The first was a mutable roll over with no seat belts on the passengers. I pulled out the survivors and stopped the bleeding until the CHP and EMT showed up. The 2nd was 3 hrs later same freeway other direction 1/2 mile away they flipped and landed on the guardrail cutting the car in half. I hope the car seats were empty I could not find any children. I don't think the driver survived, I did CPR and first aid but it was a lost cause I'm afraid. As motorcyclist we should all be prepared to respond to emergency's. In this case I was on my Virago and only had a small first aid kit. The best part of the kit was my training. If you don't have basic first aid you should go to the red cross and get trained, you could save the life of a friend or loved one. Do not be afraid to help most states have good Samaritan laws that protect you from liability and it is the right thing to do. Ride safe Rod
  6. ***SIGH*** I'm afraid I've gotten used to the retired lifestyle!! Oh well, only 1 year 4 months to go...
  7. A distraught senior citizen Phoned her doctor's office. 'Is it true,' she wanted to know, 'that the medication You prescribed has to be taken For the rest of my life?' 'Yes, I'm afraid so,' the doctor told her. There was a moment of silence Before the senior lady replied, I'm wondering, then, Just how serious is my condition Because this prescription is marked 'NO REFILLS'..
  8. Im starting some serious spring cleaning on my First Gen and having trouble getting some of the covers/body pieces off so I can clean under them. Before I go all "He-Man" on them and break something....I thought I'd ask, "is there a guide somewhere on how all the covers and false tank and body covers come off?" Otherwise I'm afraid I will be posting asking whats the best epoxy to use? Any advice would be welcome!
  9. was gonna change the stat and the dern bolts are seized. tried some heat, beating a screw driver and wd-40. im afraid i will break the housing or the cover. does anybody have a extra one laying about?????
  10. An e-mail from Renate (Germany) make me come back to let everyone knows how is our son: After a whole month, still in ICU with Respiratory Assistance but our of Risk. Neumonia consequences were so strong that his recovery will be really slow, however they're confidents on a full recovery. He had two minor surgeries: Traqueostomy and an Esofagic tube to feed him. All we afraid at this time is an Infection from the Hospital itself, that is something usual when you're too long in. Happy thanksgiving for all of you, were you are and thanks for all your prays. Carlos
  11. Tina and I are looking at buying a class a motorhome in the 35ft + range and we haven't a clue what it good or bad. We have read all the reviews and they are very conflicting so we figured we would ask you folks here as we know many of you own them and are not afraid to voice your opinion honestly. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks Mike and T
  12. Okay. I know my antennas are backwards based on another set of posts I've read. My problem is making the switch. I do not use the CB but at times the reception on the FM is not good and I'm hoping thr switch will help. I have an 04 RSV. I can turn the bottom where everything turns but I can feel what appears to be something turning inside as well so I stopped. Any suggestions on how to do this right? It should be easy but I'm afraid of breaking something. Thanks
  13. I have had a problem with my 1999 rsv for about a month now and can't figure out what to do. I first thought it was my fuel pump, but after I drained the carb bowls, the fuel pump worked fine. I have changed the fuel filter, plugs, checked for a vac. leak, I have even poured sea foam in a bowl and before I put the fuel filter on I sucked the sea foam thru to the carb. and let it soak for over 12 hours. I even carbtuned the carb. My problem is that the bike runs good about 1/4 to 3/4 throttle and above that it spits and sputters. It runs excellent for about the first mile when it is cold. Sometimes going down the road and you have 3/4 throttle it sputters and then it will take off and then it starts sputtering again. I even put a bypass key switch on it because I thought the key switch may be going bad. That didn't help either. I'm afraid it might be carb problems, but I am afraid to tear into it because I am a shade tree mechanic. I don't know anything about adjusting floats. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
  14. Went to my local yamaha dealer the other day and asked about a new clutch lever. He quoted me a price of $36.00. I thought the price was kinda high. He said there was no after market levers aval for my bike. Does anyone no where i can get a new lever with out going into debt to much. I was afraid to ask about him about the rubber under the cover for my clutch master cylinder, need one of them to..any help please...
  15. I bought a used carbtune II on ebay and when I received it I only got 2 tubes in it instead of four. The picture in the manual that I got with it shows 4 and the pictures I have seen on here show 4. I guess I need four or does someone know something else about these? I'm afraid I have gotten ripped off because there is a place for 4 tubes in this one that I received. thanks hairman

  19. I have a Motion Pro synchronizer. It seems like a lot of times when I am almost done the mercury separates. After that I am afraid to make any adjustments. Any body have any suggestions to avoid this?
  20. Hey Guys, I've got an easy one for you, but the answer alludes me! I live in Georgia where we are water deprived and can't figure out how to get the ride nice and shiny. I was doing some woodwork in the garage, and true to form did not cover it up. I'm afraid of going to the car wash for fear of hitting something hot and cracking a casting or messing up the wiring. I'ts not a high priority question, but your thoughts would be appreciated! By the way I had to give her a spongebath in the garage today! Thanks, Kenw:322:
