I mounted a set of these (http://www.iowa80.com/DirectionsWEB/webcart_productDisplay.php?itemid=158736&green=CDD68D24-F193-58BD-B813-3DCFE8BF9F10&utm_source=mybuys&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=web_rec) to the lower saddle bag rails, made a set of brackets and mounted an amber and a red on each side. Not overly bright for day time use, but work very well at night. Hooked the red ones to the runing light circuit and the brake circuit thru a modulator so they flash when brakes are applied and the ambers are set as running and turn signals, both are using the divider network from chrome glow I posted earlier. -

You can buy that circuit premade from Chrome Glow for just a bit over $6.00. http://www.chromeglow.com/catalog.asp?prodid=520657 You can buy lighted reflectors from Electrical Conection, but they a little expensive for my tase. http://www.electricalconnection.com/other-lighting/led-reflectors-bike.htm -

Replacing brake lines per maintance schedule recomendations.
M61A1MECH replied to dingy's topic in Watering Hole
Linked brakes were available on some MKI Venture Royales, to my knowledge, never available on the 2nd Gen Royal Star Ventures. I have not head of anyone trying to or wanting to link the front and rear brakes on the 2nd Gens, normally it is some one wanting to de-link their MKI brakes. -

The 06 came in two colors Solid Black Cherry as the standard model that year and Solid Midnight Black as the Midnight Special model. Al real midnights came with extra chrome on the forks, upers , handle bar controls and maybe some other places had chrome I forgot about, also the lengend on the speedo face says Midnight and I believe the saddle bag fillers said Midnight also. As Humingbird said some folks just can't leave them alone and paint the Midnights other colors and others paint the standards black. Any way good to hear you are healing up and good luck with your new ride, pictures are mandatory you know.

RSV stock handlebar riser question
M61A1MECH replied to dingy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gary What type of X-ray unit do you have at work? We have a custom built Northstar cabinet, we can do digital radiography and Computer Tomography, were we can creat a 3D image of a part. Like this http://www.xviewct.com/industrial-ct-video/rolex-video -
Silly question maybe, but did you look under the foam liner in the right handsaddle bag? That is where the OEM kit is stored by the factory. You could check PinWall salvage the may have some. Tell you the truth I have had my Venture going on 6 years never used the tools in the kit. If I had to build a kit from scratch, I would have a 4 mm, 4.5 mm, 5 mm, 6 mm, 7 mm and 8 mm allen wrench, 10 mm combination wrench, small adjustable, screw driver with interchangeable bits, a spark plug wrench and a flash light.

Questions about a hitch
M61A1MECH replied to Polemonkey's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I don't get to ride as much as I want, but did do a 400 mile lunch run on Saturday, weather has been OK. I have Royal Star harnesses in stock most all the time, If have to build one or do a custom usually only takes a day or so to get it out. Check my add here in the member vendor section of the classifieds. -
Questions about a hitch
M61A1MECH replied to Polemonkey's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Mike I am not sure how hitches are being attached to the early model Royal Stars that do not have the saddle bag supports with the cross member that connects the left to the right under the rear fender. I would not think the fender even with the stays you linked to is strong enough to take a trailer. The Ventures, New Tour DeLuxe and older Royals that had the 4 into 2 pipes used the saddle bag supports in the links below. I am not sure how those would fit or look with your set up, but I know these are strong enough to handle a trailer. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-Saddlebag-Brackets-and-Trailer-Hitch-XVZ1300-/110966268542?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19d61ae27e&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-11-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-Left-Bag-and-Muffler-Mount-/370606308673?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5649db7d41&vxp=mtr http://www.ebay.com/itm/99-11-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-XVZ1300-Right-Bag-and-Muffler-Mount-/330720285625?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d007713b9&vxp=mtr -
RSV stock handlebar riser question
M61A1MECH replied to dingy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gary Have you tried to unscrew the stem? To me it looks like one solid piece that is machined from billet, but is best guess. If you can not get a firm answer from anyone and you can afford the time in your project, send them to me and I will x-ray them at work and find out if it one piece construction or two pieces screwed together. -
Had similar weather yesterday, did short a lunch run with the group I ride with, only about 400 miles round trip, criss crossing across the state and back home. Glad I live in Florida.

“Leveling Links”, and a few other “VERY proud new owner” questions …
M61A1MECH replied to Buck_Roy's topic in Watering Hole
First let me say welcome to the forum, check out the technical pages for suggestions on rear lighting and the marshall mod for antennas. You asked The leveling links are installed in place of the factory OEM links. I would recomend going with the leveling links, they do improve the slow speed handling. Also check to see if the previous owner adjusted to triple tree down to lower the front end, the top of the triple tree clamp should be just about even with the top of the tubes. Here is alink to Dennis Kirk, they sell the pumps. https://www.denniskirk.com/progressive-suspension/pocket-pump-with-air-gauge.p28234.prd/28234.sku You asked Yes purchase a manual pump that has a zero loose valve, never use an air compressor for the front forks or the rear shock. The parts department of your local shop or any Harley shop should be able to supply a suitable pump(s) I have two, one low pressure for the front forks, they should never have more than 7 psi and one higher pressure one that I use for the rear shock and the air shock on my Bustec trailer. -
My most memerable Christmas was 1981, we had just moved to Lakeland, and had planned to travel up to Brooksville to celebrate with the rest of the family after my daughter (2) had opened her presents. Well she woke up and was as sick as any little kid could ever be, so it was clear to us right away that we would not be able to travel the 70 odd miles and clebrate with the rest of the family. We called to let everyone know and then pondered what we would do for Christmas dinner. Well about an hour and a half later the front door bell rings , and there is the rest of the family with presents and dinner , half cooked turkey and all, in hand. So we put the food back on the stove and turkey in the oven, opened presents and had a great day.

Draining the water pump
M61A1MECH replied to DarkLeftArm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You should drain it when ever you change coolant, which one every 2 years or 26,000 miles. Normally you would drain the water pump after the rest of the ststem is drained, there is not much in there after the system is drained. -

Thanks for the post and the work you do, we visited Turpine Creek back in 2001 and were very impressed with the work they were doing. I am always amazed that people keep big cats , often as pets. Have you contacted big cat rescue inn Tampa FL? They may be able to help. http://bigcatrescue.org/ There is also a place in Shapes just south of me called Central Florida Animal Rescue , http://www.cflar.org/, maybe they could help. Also a place called Endangered Animal rescue Sanctuary in central florida not far from Orlando, http://www.earsinc.net/index.html Chances are you and your organization are already aware of these places , but in case your not, maybe they can help.

When you are adjusting the volume for the CB are you certain the controller has the CB selected? The controller will set the radio and the CB to different volumes, if you are in one of the audio mods it will noy affect the CB volume even if the CB is on. You have to push the CB button to toggle it to the CB side theh the volume control adjusts the CB volume an dthe audio volume stays where you left it. Well I see Freebird beat me to this subject while I was typing.

The 2005 motor is not a direct replacement for the motor that came with the 1997 Royal Star. Anything 2005 and up will be the same as a Royal Star Venture motor reguardless if it came out of a 2005 Royal Star Venture or a 2005 Tour Deluxe. The New 2005 and up Tour Deluxe is nothing more than a stripped down Royal Star Venture. That being said, the Royal Star Venture motors (1999 to 2013) have been fitted into the original (1996 to 2001) standard type Royal Star frames. There is fellow over on the Delphi forums named Hank that did it some years ago, others have done it also. Takes some fiddiling around but it can be done. Check the Delphi forums for Royal Star or V-4 forums, and ask around about the engine swap.
