Hauled my bike last two years to gatlinburg. get youself two sets of toe straps. they are about two ft long with loops on each end. Get yourself 4 ratchet straps.[must be ratchets, not pull staps]. there is a very narrow opening under the fairing to run the loop strapon each side of the shock. hook the ratchet strap to the loop and moove to the other side and do same thing. do the same thing on the rear . If you have crash bars around your bags, hook to the front bars. If you dont have crash bars Im not sure. Please tighten all little at a time to keep the bike from leaning one way or the other. If you are using a trailer without a chalk. run your bike against the front of trailer and kill the motor. then tie down. hope that helps you.

If you could trade your Venture for a Goldwing

Thats the way I feel Tom. As long as you are riding what makes the difference what it is. Alot of my buddies ride Harleys and they are always asking when Im getting one. I just smile and say, Love my bike. -
Saw one painted at quaker steak and lube , looked pretty cool. didnt get to talk to everyone. Hey I have a question about headlights. Can I put a visor on my headlight without taking the fairing off.

I have always used plexus. you can usually pick it up at most motorcycle shops for about ten bucks. It is amazing. I use it on my windshield and the entire front of the bike. takes the bugs right off and reacts like a wax.

Bike seems Unstable
dunsonaventure replied to Old Texan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
check the pressure in tires and shocks. I run 40 to 42 in tires and 5 in my front shocks and 40 in my rear. If that doesnt change it then get rid of those 404's. If you want Dunlops , they say Elite 3's, or Anon venom's, and I am presently running metzler 880's and have been happy with them. Hope this helps. Safe ridn. -
OH YEH, they are metzlers

I have a 99 and have abour 6000 on my tires. Two years in a row went to Smoky mts and pushed this bike to the limit,[ so the sport bike boys told] when we would get to the top of the hill and they would take off their helmets and say, what are you doing here. Ive heard guys say they dont like these tires, but then again you will always have someone who has had a problem with every tire. I think these tires have excellent grip although I have not had Avons or Dunlop3. I can only tell you my experience, im guessing about 10,000 yhey will be gone. bUT WITH HARD RIDING ON MYN ROADS, THATS PROBABLY GOOD

Installed 35's on my 99 and they felt fine, so I thought... installed the weights after a month and nd it was even smoother. get the weights, you wont be sorry. -
I have bubs on my 99 RSV and love them. nice rumble at Idle, not to loud crusing, but sound like a NASCAR if you climb on it.

RSV Tach issues
dunsonaventure replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
saw that barons tach on a bike at a station last week, loved it , got to have it. -
I have heard alot of bad press on Metzeler tires on this site, unfortunately after I put them on. But I have to say ,Ive been to the dragon and surrounding areas two years in a row on these tires riding that big dog like a sport bike and have had no problems after 6000 miles. If the E3's and Venoms are that much better I cant wait

Broke my radio antenna on my 99. took them both off and crimped on two 3ft black antennas. radio sounds like crap. im so disappointed. ready to scrap it all and go to the 3ft #10 coiled up copper under the trunck mat and see how that sounds. Anyone done that and how successful was it

When you said sidecar , there is the reason for the joyride. He had to see what that rode like. never the less, they owe you a hemet.

Sent this to my too cool to gear up buddy, who looks like he is going to a jimmy Buffet concert every time he rides. I keep telling him he is a statistic waiting to happen.

BURNT! clutch.. wow..
dunsonaventure replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Speaking of clutches. My 99 started slipping alittle after returning from gatlinburg trip. Hard hard riding ... When I removed the resevoir cover the fluid was down very low. filled it pumped it back up and fine ever since. where did that fluid go???? -
Nice looking ride. You will enjoy that baby and get plenty of looks going down the road.

beautiful day in Massillon Ohio. Nice ride into Amish areathis morning for a hardy breakfast. Polished thebike and the car, then off to friends for pool party, horseshoes, chicken on the grill, and tequilla jello in hollowed out strawberries.[ They will sneak up on ya!!! I know from experience.] Hope everyone had a great fourth, and dont forget the men and women who keep us in this comfort zone we call freedom. God bless them and their families.

good luck with the factory shield. In response to your question about the short show chrome shield, I have it and love it. -
Gary, Sorry for your loss and your family will be in my prayers. BUT, there is a party in heaven with his name on the sign and your mother is waiting at the gate.

It check them out.would have to be a tie between Rick Butler seat mod and Steve Wagners Radiator cover. Love them both and both on Member venders. And for whoever ask the question about Kuryakyns brake and turn signal all in one. yes I did it and it is a plug and play.

That was an awsome video and pics. Sure looks like it was another successful MD. Sure wish I could have made it this year. Had to go to Cinn. to pickup my father-in-laws Harley Electra Glide and side car to bring home to sell. Dad has stage 4 lung cancer. I put the sidecar on last year to get him some more riding time and it got him one more year. Now he wanted it gone so that took top billing over maint day. Any of your Harley buddies looking for a beautiful pearl white Harley sidecar please contact me. Im going to drop in on Freebird one of these days just to say Ive been to the ranch...
