  2. went to plug in my led taight light. took out the old bulb, plugged in new board. turned the key and, no headlight , no brake light. no taillight,, I have flashers, turn signals, what the hell happened.
  3. Dont worry you will get used to it . word of advise, practice low speed skills in a empty parking lot. Once you get comfortable with your new bigger bike at slow speeds, everything else will feel mor comfortable. I moved from a 635lb vstar 1100 to this 970lb beast. Soon as I bought my 99 bought new tires and thanks to guys on this site, tightened my head bearing, and she handles like a ninja..
  4. front ones are running lights, back ones are not. did the custom dinamics change on my RSV which also comes with red lenses. End result is Three brake likes when you put on the brakes, and three red running lights when going down the road.
  5. Buy the 2000 and buy all your chrome safety gear if it doesnt have it. I have a 99, love the gray wheels vs black ones on newer models. Use extra money for running lights bag liners luggage rack, all adds up quick.
  6. Barons makes a cool tach that takes the place of the cover on the front brake resevoir. Yamaha makes bag liners, not cheap, but I have them and they fit perfectly. Dont have the tach yet but met a guy out on the road with one and it looked awsome.
  7. Member vender Rick Butler comes very highly recomended. I dont know if he does 1st Generation, I would asume so. I did both seats on my 99 and could not believe the difference. Can go all day no problem.
  8. I have a 99 RSV with 37000 on it and would not hesitate to go anywhere. Just remember things can happen on such a long trip. As you have heard from many members, it makes it easier to handle if you are prepared. water waterand more water, new brakes and tires, and coolant. You cant go wrong listening to this group. My friends think I think of everything on our trips. If they only knew I get it all from Venturerider.org...
  9. Welcome Charlie, ive been on this site for a couple of yrs and you will find just about an answer to any question you want answered, and probably end up getting a laugh or two in the process. had the 3m on one of my cars and it realy did the trick. Havent used it on my bike but thats a really good idea. Enjoy that new ride, and welcome to the group.
  10. thanks for sharing that Don. That was a great hour of entertainment looking at those awsome bikes.
  11. I would love to be put on this list. although as big as this list is, I might be in a wheelchair before I ever get to and I am only 47. I might have to go buy it myself
  12. It is heartbreaking to see anyone fall to this sickness, let alone a child. Im loosing my father to cancer, but he has lead a wonderful life. these kids havent experienced anything but pain.
  13. Thanks guys for your help. Well I took them off and ran the radio antenna wire up through the drain plug on the trunk and attached 2 1/2 ft of no. 10 copper wire. radio works fine.
  14. I know alot of my fellow members do not seem to be fond of Metzler 880's, but I had great luck with mine. 8500 miles and not completely gone but I just ordered two more. was on another bike with dunlop elite 3 and and didnt feel they gripped anywhere near the grip my Metzlers have. Just one guys opinion.
  15. does anyone know if I can put a backrest on my 99 factory seat. would like to have one that matches.
  16. I dont know about what the99s are going for, all I know is I sure as heck wouldnt let my 99 go for anything even close to that. Ive got 2500 in extras. Good thing Im so happy with it. Only other bike I can remember liking even close to this much was my 82 honda 650 nighthawk.
  17. I feel the same way. Always give my local dealers the chance to lower the price ,and they always come through.
  18. I just removed my antennas off my 99. you are more than welcome to have my factory stud.
  19. Hey guys and gals, In the process of getting rid of my antennas, stereo has always sounded like crap, but wondering, what is the proper placement of them. If on the bike, stereo goes on right, correct. Going to the coiled copper wire in the trunk method.
  20. Mine would love to find some carb covers and the other chrome filter cover between the jugs. both no longer sold by yamaha. just purchased some new shoes for her,had valves adjusted and new clutch. Also would like a retro led taillight. 99 with 37000 miles and I wouldnt trade her for anything!
  21. Don, Thanks so much for all your hard work for our pleasure, and needed knowledge about our awsome bikes. I wish you and all the venturerider family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...
  22. Congrats on finding the ride for you. You are so on the money about the site, the knowledge, the friends, and the work in making this site. I love it. but I think all the guys are right, why leave, its about the love of riding. I ride with several guys and I have the only RSV... BMW's, Harleys, MotoGuzzi, Hondas, Suzuki's. its about the ride, so stick around...
  23. I uderstand what the links do by listening to your conversation. where do they go and how are they installed.
  24. I will tell you that my 99 was very uncomfortable for my wife. but my seat had been reworked bt Rick Butler and it is heaven. My wife has back trouble and was probably going to have to quit riding. so I sent her passenger seat to rick and he reworked it also. Granted, she still has a bad back but she says it is a huge improvement, and she can go a couple hours. I would suggest giving Rick Butler a try. We are extremely happy and it is way cheaper than one of the aftermarket seats....
  25. I agree with everyone that when I see a RSV I wonder if they are one of the guys I talk to or if they even know about the site. But I would never put a sticker on my bike. I like the business card idea but that would only work if you were talking to the person. The banner for the antenna is a cool idea. Im always amazed when you ask if they know the site, and they dont.
