Repairing 41R Relay ???
BuddyRich replied to GolfVenture's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Two things usually happen to the old style relays when they go bad. one the coil shorts or opens. Your not gonna rewind something that small. Another is the contacts get burnt. You might be able to file that but unlikely. Think your better of just looking for a replacement. -
I remember them..... I don't think TX get them.

Ah, the 5th gear whining
BuddyRich replied to farm1810's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
If you really want to feel what that bike can do take 2nd to about 50 then third to about 90. She'll move out in third.. -
That box has got the relays in it. Its your relays for startup and hi/lo . I had a bad one on my pickup. It was h13 but one light would not come on at all. Replaced the bad box and all was good.

Both 88 and 4 are nice rides too.

Rejetting these bikes is not really needed. You should go thru the carbs and clean them real good. Run some seafoam thru. Also check the diaphragms for pin holes.

So I bought new spark plugs and it doesnt run as well..
BuddyRich replied to rstacy's topic in Watering Hole
Iridium's come pre-gapped. Did you set the gap on the standard plugs you put in ? Standard plugs are not pre-gapped so maybe that's the difference . -
Classic Style with V4 power and smoothness at a reasonable price. Plus all the basic features you want at no additional cost.

Hot, hot hot passenger feet
BuddyRich replied to myminpins's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Yamaha make a lower wind vent. These will help both as it directs air in towards the motor. You should try them. We all get hot feet in slow moving traffic though. Check around. I got mine for like 135. http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=2&manufacturer_ID=165&product_ID=23351&model_ID=42 -
How much you gonna charge to make me one ?
-
Let the light cycle twice. If it does not detect you twice its not going to. Detection loops are not going to see that little magnet they call a green light trigger. The loops are quite often fifty feet long so your little magnet is not enough to induce current flow of a fifty foot induction coil. Go thru it after the second cycle.

Odyssey battery life
BuddyRich replied to 01 Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mine is the same age as yours. There's been a couple of times I left something on and completely drained it. Used a regular car charger on 6 or 8 amps to get it charged again and its still working fine. I figure one day its just gonna be dead and that's that. Probably get another one since this one has lasted so long and been abused. -
2001 RSV Chripping sound
BuddyRich replied to Richie R's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yours is outta warranty and I think the dealer sees dollars floating his way. The chirp is very common on these bikes. Find someone else in your area with an RSV and trade bikes for a quick ride. That way both of you will be able to tell. -
I run the double HH on my rear and don't have a problem with locking up. Its just a matter of feel. You adjust for any changes. Yes Jeff that is a good description is hissing. I really don't notice it now. Maybe it goes away with wear in.

LED On/Off Switch Suggestions
BuddyRich replied to Bobby G's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I put mine behind my seat on the left side. There's a piece of black filler there with plenty of room and your right next to the battery. I also have a couple of switches in the inner fairing. You'll have to drill a couple of holes to do that. -
Don. You been to the beach yet ? You'll probably get in trouble if you go.

The server farm had a major power outage. Probably affected a bunch of sites.

Yea, And I didn't even say it in ALL CAPS..:rotf:

As the first page use to say we are not into rules, cliques, rank and such formal MC's have. I would not put any kind of sticker on my fairing anyway. Might on my trunk but then I'll decide if and where to put it.
