  1. I've been using Trend for several years now with no problems and am very happy with it as opposed to McAffee, but only depend on it for anti virus. For spyware I use Spybot and Lava. Wizard765 my computer Guru highly recommends the Microsoft Essentials as it is free and as mentioned does not slow the computer down as some security software tends to...
  2. ...Besides this place being some of the best people in the world!!!
  3. Awww, come on! We do not use the word "normal" when defining this motley crew...
  4. You might try 94 to 294 to 88 west to 355 to 80. We took 80 to 355 to 90 going to the PIP with no real problem! You want to avoid I90 thru Chicago like the black plague...
  5. Yup! It took someone from the south that does not have their bike in storage to answer that, eh Playboy?!!?
  6. Yah! All I used in my garage was 3 cheap dual 4 footers costing me maybe $15 or maybe even $10 each. Maybe not the most fashionable but very effective none the less...
  7. Nope, was wrong about the Dennis Kirk catalog, it only gives the specs for the aftermarket handlebars. As far as a jack goes, as mentioned above you can use a regular motorcycle jack with some strategically placed pieces of wood. Myself I have used 2X3's as they work out pretty good. Member carbon 1 makes an excellent lift adapter that is also free standing once you jack up the bike with his adapter and swing out the legs...
  8. Hmmmm, that's odd! You may have been better served with that particular question in 2nd gen tech talk, but we aren't that particular about having to be in the right forum. The information you need should be available from any Yamaha service center or perhaps in an old thread somewhere. Did you try a search using the search feature on this site? Also if I recall right, the Dennis Kirk catalog has handlebar specs...
  9. My pick is NE but I hope the Giants take it...
  10. Waaaaay cool!!!!!
  11. A lot of times it's more than just replacing the seals. Honing the cylander is also a must do. You may want to price a new one as I don't believe they are that expensive...
  12. 17 years?? Man you're lucky!! With the high calcium level we have we are lucky to get 10 years out of a water heater...
  13. Can't remember if I still have mine from replacing it with an air horn, but if I do it's yours for the asking. I'll check in a little while and let you know...
  14. Same here! Took me darn near a year to really get used to it, and now have a VPAP instead of a CPAP (Variable). Been at least 10 years now, and I don't feel half dead when I wake up like I used to. I used to feel half dead because according to my sleep study and my PO2 level I WAS half dead...
  15. It's great when it is sad news but yet glad news! Of course our deepest sympathy for her loss but as she knows it is only temporary. She will see her again in glory!
  16. I can remember there being a thread about this very subject! Here's the best tip that works like a charm! Get yourself a piece of 2" x 6" wood, whatever that is in metric, place it either in front of or behind the rear tire (tyre for you metric types) and roll the bike on to the board. Now following the approved method of standing along side of the bike and facing forward place your heel firmly on the center stand (sorry, my spell check does not like centre) and with the hand that is furthest from the bike on the handlebars and the closest hand on the passenger grab bar, gingerly snap up the bike onto the stand. As long as your foot is firmly on the stand the bike will not tip over so do not worry if it wants to lean ever so slightly from where you "think" the bike should be. My piece of wooden joist was the perfect length to fit in the bottom of my MK saddlebag and is still stored in there to this day...
  17. There was an optional oiler kit for the early MK1's, mainly the '83 and early '84 to fix the cooling problem. Later '84s were fixed for this. The stator uses oil sloshed onto it for cooling. Yes, you can enlarge the hole slightly for more volume, but not too much or you will loose pressure leading onto the stator. The hole size determines what kind of oriface effect you get which is going to determine what kind of pressure gets built up going thru it. The bigger the diameter the lower the pressure which means it won't squirt as far. If your stator is shot I recommend springing the extra money on a high output stator. Just because it is discolored does not mean it is defective, just aged and yes exposed to some overheating...
  18. PS if the light is on steady it just means a code was detected, and needs service in the near future. If the light is flashing it is more urgent and requires immediate attention...
  19. Yah! If the code indicates massive evaporative leak try a new gas cap on it and make sure that the neck of the filler tube isn't corroded or rusty causing an air leak. Other problems can be the canister, the sensor on the gas tank, or a corroded connector for the sensor. Depending on which engine you have it may very well require premium gas, especially if it is a turbocharged version. That was the main reason when I bought my 2005 Monte Carlo I did NOT buy the SS version as it required premium gas as opposed to the 3.8 liter which runs on regular...
  20. I have the latest and greatest on both computers. Works fine on my netbook but on the desktop it is constantly crashing! I use Firefox on my desktop because of that...
  21. Yah! The asking price is a bit high...
  22. Holy cow Larry, another year older???? Where does the time go?!!?
  23. Outstanding!!!
  24. Dan, it took me over a year to really get used to my machine, but now I can't live without it (literally)...
  25. Alodine the aluminum...
