At least you had a very long time to enjoy being together! So very sorry for your loss Jim, we just found out about it yesterday due to our vacation. You will always have friends here to turn to whenever you need a friend! Our deepest sympathy. -
Not going, but I already have my tee shirt from it...

A front wheel chock is a tremendous help! Harbor Freight has a nice one, or as suggested you can make one out of 2X4's...- 10 replies

Passanger Foot Rest
bongobobny replied to asigetic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
They do bolt up but you need longer bolts, and the one in the center needs a washer. I used the bolt that was holding the sxhaust and the big washer in front of the rubber insert on the stock pegs... -
The one Freebird rode while he was visiting me here a few years ago was not the R/T unless he has ridden one since then. The R/T has an improved riding position but alas there is still room for improvement for legroom. If you come to the International this summer you may get a chance to ride one. Pioneer Motorsports is a Can Am dealer...

I'm not an expert on this but I would think in the $10 to $15 range depending on how efficient he was on the job. I've forgotten what minimum wage is these days but that's around $7 to $8. If he was a professional contractor you would pay more...

Passanger Foot Rest
bongobobny replied to asigetic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It's actually a very easy mod. The hardest part is fabricating a set of hangers for the exhaust. I used 1" wide aluminum stock on mine. If I get a chance later on this week or next week I'll take some pictures for you... -
Carl, I just checked both the '84 and the '85 and picture 1 is the stock application. I'm thinking that's why the Ventureline ones were extended out. BTW you do know that no one will be anywhere near the Hearth this Saturday...

Passanger Foot Rest

They are pretty much plug and play EXCEPT you have to fabricate a set of hangers for the exhaust, and buy longer bolts, and use some of the parts from the passenger footpeg setup. What you need to use are those big flat washers and the larger bolts that have a point on them. A long time ago I did an article on the conversion with pictures but I think it got lost in the shuffle. It may have been before the great crash of '07 or whatever year it was... If you find a set, and one of the best places to look is on Fleabay, and need further info I will be glad to help you out. -
If you can find an 85 trunk and mounting rack it is a plug and play application which will give you extra trunk space and a nicer passenger backrest. Also, the MK2 adjustable backrests bolt right on as the trunk uppers are the same. You just need the upper beauty cap to hide the mechanism. Never checked but the trunk bottoms may be the same as well meaning that with the '85 trunk mounting rack you may be able to mount any MK2 trunk to it. Another mod you may want to consider is a pair of brackets to move the trunk back a few inches to give the navigator a little more breathing room. They are very easy to make out of bar stock. If you are interested I can show you pictures of the ones I made for mine...
