    I can agree with Carl's logic but on the other hand if I'm downshifting that usually means I'm slowing down, the same as if I put the brakes on. I dunno, I have mixed feelings about it. Novel idea, but I probably wouldn't use it either...

    We met up with ETCSWJOE on our vacation too! Enjoyed meeting him. Meeting up with Ventureriders along the way was one of the highlights of our vacation and was further proof that this site is family!!

    Another great source of a discount, but not free, is join AARP. You can join at 55 and if you buy a multi year membership it isn't that much per year. For example, I get a better price at Hampton inns with my AARP than my AAA...

    So is the strength of the magnets! You should be able to put a dwell meter on the ignition to make sure there is proper functioning for ignition...

    OK as far as price, an E-3 will probably last as long as two 404's or at least 1 1/2 times for sure, so multiply the cost of the D404 by that and tell me which is cheaper in the long run! As John Arbuckle said, "You get what you pay for!" BTW the Michelin Commanders are also a nice tire. With ANY tire pay attention to the manufacturer's date code and it is highly recommended, especially on 2 wheels, to not use any tire more than 6 years old! I know this is going to stir the hornet's nest but it is not a good idea to have different tread patterns on the front vs the rear as handling will be adversely affected. Also never mix bias and radial tires as the results could be disaster...

    Well obviously 12 volts is getting past the ignition switch somehow. If swapping out the ignition switch doesn't fix it then closely examine that extra wiring I see in the picture. There may be a path thru that somehow...

    The D404 is not really a great choice for a 1st gen. Go with the Elite 3 if you want Dunlop or consider the Avon Venom...

    Will it pull it? Probably. Is the price good? Maybe, seeing as nowdays prices would be around $6000 give or take. I would take a closer look at what is out in the market as far as weight and compare efficiency. Was this trailer designed to be pulled by a motorcycle or a car? What did the present owner use to pull it?
