Better check your bolts!
awsmsrv replied to waterbug's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Yep. Same thing happened to me with my '06. The right saddlebag lid got all scratched up. Yamaha replaced it for me with no problem. -
Or your brake lights. I tapped into the brakes with mine.

How much fuel is really left in my tank?
awsmsrv replied to raceman62race's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The most I've put in is about 5.75. I did punch the holes in the filler neck & you can do 40-50 miles once you flip the lever to reserve. I think my fuel light comes on with about 1.5 gallons left. That's just a guess. -
Can someone please explain to me why Frogg Toggs would come in black, blue or gray? In rainy weather, wouldn't yellow or orange or even neon green be smarter? At least the women's comes in cherry. That one might be a little more "see-able". Maybe it's just me, but I want to be seen in gray weather & those colors just don't do it for me.

I have the Motoport (Cycleport) Ultra II Air Mesh Kevlar Jacket with 2-part Aero-Tex Liner that includes a zip-out Thermoloft Insulated Liner. I also have the Air Mesh Kevlar Pants with the Aero-Tex Liner, as well. These things both have built-in armor that covers more of your body than any other. It's removable (so you can wash the garments) & conforms to your body contours. They custom-size them for you. Not cheap, but great stuff. I've had mine for about 2 years now & they look almost new. Oh, they're also guaranteed for 7 years. You can read more at motoport.com.

leather & helmet saved my skin-Kevlar better?

I've got Motoport (Cycleport) Ultra II Air Mesh Jacket & Air Mesh Kevlar Pant. Not cheap, but custom fit rarely is. file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/Aynn/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.jpghttp://www.motoport.com/images/ultra2lge.jpg http://www.motoport.com/images/am-kev-pant-lge.JPG -
If I remember correctly, the odometer is pretty accurate. The speedo is off, so I installed a speedohealer. The SH will, however, affect the odo, too. I'd rather have my speedo accurate. My $.02.

Sears Motorcycle/ATV Jack
awsmsrv replied to dlhoulton's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Can't tell you anything about the red one as I've only got the yellow. I bought it because it seems to be higher quality & it works well for me. I also have Carbon_One's lift adapter (no legs) & it's great. Just don't forget to remove it after you're done with your work. Uh, yes, you guessed it. I forgot one time & when I took a right turn I suddenly was reminded it was still on the bike (scraping noise was the clue). It released itself & got a little scratched & the rod got a little bent, but no actual damage. Haven't forgotten again (yet). Doh!- 26 replies

I've got the Clearview medium with tint & vent. I had another 1.5" cut off, so now it's perfect. I much prefer looking over rather than through the shield. A little more wind, but worth it to me. It's also 4-5" wider than stock.

Same here, only it's my wife. She has the same bike as your girlfriend.

Maybe it's just how your browser is set up, but Opera Mini works great on my BlackBerry. Most of the time I read & post from it. Everything looks the way it should. Some web sites look better than others, but, for the most part, they look pretty good on my BB. The browser that comes with the BB is not very good.

Sorry, but I hate it. So much time wasted when a phone call could do in 30 seconds what it takes 5 minutes to do texting. I also think it has condoned rudeness. Doesn't matter where you are, i.e., dinner table, playing a game, etc., these kids have their face & thumbs glued to the phone. There. I said it. P.S. For those of you with impaired hearing, it makes a lot of sense. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Yes, it's normal. Actually, it starts counting up, so you know how far you've gone since hitting reserve. After you fill up, after about 5 miles it goes back to your previous setting: clock, odometer, trip distance.

Bluetooth Wireless set/communications

+1 This set-up is great. When on the bike & on the phone with my wife, she says she hears absolutely nothing but my voice. Superb sound as intercom, as well . The price has dropped since we purchased. I believe you can now get it for less than $250 total for 2 bikes.- 34 replies

I'm guessing it has something to do with Don still putting things back in after a software upgrade. I'm sure it'll be back soon.

I'm not too far from you, but, how would anyone contact you? Not enough info, i.e., phone, email, etc. You may want to update your info. I guess there's always PM. I'll see if my better half would be interested in something like this when the time comes. Thanks.

Wow! That must be tough down there in San Diego. Do you look like the Michelin Man on a bike? Must have to really bundle up the layers & turn up the heated gear. Seriously though, I'm originally from SoCal & when it comes to riding, sure wish I were still there. My wife & I may be back down there come retirement. Fingers crossed. Enjoy.

Yes, I installed the F2P GDO, but I tapped into the brake lights instead of the headlight. It works great.

Not a chance. Still got this stuff called snow all over the place. Couldn't even ride with my new Warm & Safe heated gloves that my wife bought me for Christmas. Quite unusual around here to get so much of it. At least, I was able to install the harness & plug in the gloves to see if they'd heat up. They do. Now just have to wait until the weather gets back to normal. What global warming?!?! Sheesh.

Headlight bulb........
awsmsrv replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here's what you might want. They're called dynamic clusters. The outer 24 LEDs are amber for your turn signals & the inner cluster of 24 LEDs is red for your running/brake lights. I use these. Just click on the picture. http://www.customdynamics.com/Images/genesis_flat_small.jpg -
Headlight bulb........
awsmsrv replied to BoomerCPO's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here's how I understand it: with no load equalizer, your blinkers will be fast (technically illegal), but some actually prefer it (more noticeable). You could also replace your blinker unit with this, which I have done. You loose the automatic cancel & emergency flashers, but to me that's okay. You do save a little juice for other electrics this way, however, your blinkers aren't on for very long anyway, so really, is it saving anything. I just wanted to have more juice for other things, & besides, the LEDs are much brighter.
