  4. I got a new to me bike today, and I am so excited. I've been looking for one of these for the past few years, and finally found and bought a really good looking one today. It's a 1988 Honda NX250, a great little dual purpose ride. I got it from the second owner with all the original paperwork, 2 original keys, Owner's Manual and Service Manual and even a few extra parts. And it seems to be in great shape. I only rode it about 20 miles today, and it was just plain fun. One reason I'm so excited is I actually had 2 of these same bikes back in 1988. I won them on the "Price Is Right" in '88. I kept both of them for quite awhile, and then sold one and kept the other another couple years or so. Thinking back, I don't know why I sold it. More recently I've been looking for a good one for about 4 years now. This one came up on Craig's List a couple days ago, I finally had a chance to go see it earlier today, and now it's mine..... ....and my son's. He's 17 and this will be a great bike for him to start off on. I love my RSV and it's a daily rider for me, but I think I will be doing more puttin around town stuff on the little Honda. Now let's see about sharing some photos.
  5. Leaving Wed after work to ride down to the Orlando / Kissimmee area to visit my Dad for a long weekend. Be my first real touring length trip on the RSTD. I gotta say, I am excited about getting her out on the open road where she belongs.
  6. Well, I took a few hours this evening to give a friend of mine a hand moving. She had a bunch of bulky and heavy items she couldn't get her self, so no big deal. Got them moved to her new place. On my way out, we were chatting in the front of her building when another young lady walked up. We all three talked for a few minutes (apparently this gal is the mother of three young boys). I saw one of them bolt out towards my bike and was a little uneasy because I didn't want him to get hurt. I got close behind him and saw his curious little hands and big eyes looking at himself in the [dirty] chrome parts that are just the right height for him to see him self. Despite the 'don't touch the shiny parts, they are really hot and WILL hurt you' the boy looked at me and said he really liked it and asked if it was mine. I responded "thank you very much, and yes it is". I mentioned again that he needs to take a step back because it is hot and it will hurt him. Well, he asked some other questions about it (as a curious little 4 year old would do) and I started fishing around in my trunk to get my helmet and stuff out so I could take off while he was once again was drawn to the shiny parts. Despite the additional reminder of you can look but don't touch, he turned and looked at his mom then looked back at himself and with his little pointer finger very quickly poked at the image of him self in the side of the cover that encases the clutch basket (all of this was within a matter of seconds and I couldn't get to him in time to stop him). My bike had sat there for no more than 10 minutes after being ridden for probably about an hour. It wasn't really hot, but it was hot enough that he learned his lesson. He didn't cry but he wasn't happy about it either. Anyways, by this time the other one was out asking questions too. They both wanted to go for a ride, but settled for sitting on it. They got a kick out of that. In addition to sitting on it, I suggested that if one of them wanted to hear something cool, push this little black button... The air-horn blasted and boy that surprised them both (and the mother too). Anyways, the 10 or 15 minutes I spent answering their questions and letting them ooo and ahh, really reminded me of what it was like to be that age and be so excited to head to my grandparents house. I would always get a ride on my grandpa's wing when we went over there and I always remember how excited my grandpa was when I would ask him about his bike. These are not my kids, and I am a ways away from having kids but seeing how excited they were about my bike brought back some memories and I just thought I would share.
  7. Well, the better half and I are finally going to make it official next month and get married. We've been seeing each other for over 2 an a half years. Alot of first for both of us, she has kids and I have none. Alot of getting used to but it's the greatest now. She didn't like motorcycles, and now I can't leave without her. I'm so excited and can't wait until November 21. We'll be doing it in Luray, VA. Very private and quiet. Just her and I. How great it is when you've found that one.
  8. Hello everyone. I have noticed while browsing this wonderful forum, that many have installed RK mufflers. I was wondering if any one had the template for the bracket on hand. The links from some time ago have expired. I just scored a new set at the local HD dealer for $75. I am very excited to get moving. I did already order the clamps on ebay thanks to you guys. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. thank you. I have a new to me 2005 rstd and love it.
  9. Waiting to fly up and pick up my new MM. Sleeperhawk is picking me up and I guess a small gaggle of ventureriders are going to the Harley dealer to see the baby get a proper home. I can't figure out if I'm more excited about the bike or meeting all these great, generous people! 4 hours and counting.

  15. Well I don’t know if you are suppose to get excited about these things but here goes. My Cell phone died on me so I had to replace it. I looked around and decided that I could use a smartphone because it would replace my Palm Pilot that I’ve used for many years and I’d only be carrying one device instead of two. This is where is gets exciting. I started looking at the iPhone but my carrier isn’t offering that one and I’m windows based. I still have a contract for another year and a bit. HTC has a new phone called the Touch Diamond. AWESOME. It has Windows Mobile 6.1 and Mobile Office. Now I can use Word, Excel and Powerpoint on my Phone. It also has WiFi which means I can check in here from any hotspot without using air time. Facebook and Youtube are very easy as well as e-mail. I can get a data plan so that I could use these anywhere but that gets expensive. Another cool part is what they call an accelerometer which allows the unit to know what position it is in. It will rotate the screen from portrait mode to landscape mode in any screen that I want to do that just by turning the unit. It is so sensitive that there is a game called Teeter which is like the old Labyrinth game (wooden box with two knobs and a maze with a steel ball). Gotta try it to believe it. Man I love technology! Now comes the main reason I’m excited. This thing as a GPS built in. Telus sells their navigation system as so many $ a month which is pretty good and the unit comes with Google Maps which uses data. BUT I got Garmin XT Mobile software which actually turns MY PHONE into a Garmin GPS. I can use MapSource to draw out a route on my PC and then upload it to the phone. I also tried TomTom which works very well but doesn't have the ability to work on the PC and upload to the phone. I liked some the TomTom day to day features but overall the Garmin works better for what I want to do with it. This gets even better. I’ve been using Ms Streets & Trips for years and am very comfortable with it. I just took a route that I used this past summer and transferred it using Babble to the MapSource software (amazingly easy) and then uploaded to my phone. It worked flawlessly. Bottom line. I now have a smartphone, contact manager (Outlook), Internet access, games, mp3 player, mini computer, AND a Garmin GPS in my pocket. WOW!!! Oh and I can even use it as a level. Wayne
  16. So, my son-in-law pulls up to the house with his Mustang. Im thinking it was his 2007 Shelby 350 GT......nooooo, he just traded it in on a new Shelby 500 GT..supercharged and all. I took it for a spin and it scared the hell out of me when I nailed it. Right now its not even producing full power. The ECU wont allow the supercharger to go to full boost of 15 until it hits 500 miles. Its at 5 now and it kicks some serious butt. I nailed it and it literally tossed us back into the seats......Ill post some pics another time....I was too excited, and those who know me know I never get excited, much less get off the couch, unless its for a ride. If you have never driven one, go and check one out......Cant wait till its broken in.
  17. Ok I know that the temps outside said only 26 degrees:cold: and that the real feel was about 22:cold: but we had the itch that needed to be scratched. so we put on the chaps and leather coats and face mask. We slowly got the bike across the ice covered drive way and waved to the next door neighbor as they were shaking thier heads....they dont understand....and for the first time this year we road off on the bike :cool10::cool10:.....oh what a feeling I can not wait for the temp in the 40's we might be able to double that number or more....and still be able to feel all the fingers when we get back home...it is almost that time I'm so so excited Jessie and Jack
  18. Hummm, my handsome male maid attendant who works exclusively for me discovered his tip of $5.25 in the small bedroom upstairs and his is extremely excited in that he will now be able to go and get some ShinerBock Beer! :dancefool: He works cheap!:whistling:
