I placed an ad in the classifieds, the reason for the ad is I must sacrifice due to recent health issues. I love my ride and it needs a good home, all is on the up and up as several of you know that have been to my home. This scoot will be a great bike for one of you and loads of spare parts from an 86 VR go with it, it's a STRONG runner. Help my wife and I while helping yourself. We will make the Cody, WY rally, awesome ride from here to there that time of year, anybody else going to Cody rally from NW, maybe we could hookup. If enough I could bring my big trailer enough room for 6 Ventures and the ex-cab F250 we could ride and/or trailer have loads of room for extra baggage and FULL set of tools with some spare parts in case we experience any breakdowns. I live close enough to Vancouver Island BC - Seattle - Portland that anyone could coordinate and meet one of those 3 spots is more than welcome to share the bike trailer and/or ride along. It's an outstanding ride from NW to Cody that time of year, could hit snow in the upper parts of the pass coming and going but it shouldn't be heavy and having the trailer available would negate any worries over the white stuff. I have an 83' VR, I did a strip to frame (w/ new powdercoat) restoration with complete platic repairs for all the stress cracks and painted it midnight purple with hand painted pin striping - bike had 29K actual miles on it when I got it. I wouldn't sell mine for 9k, I know what I have. My point is if you like wrenching an older bike can be found with low miles fairly cheap and you can have a beauty for half what your thinking of paying and a lot of fun working on it making it yours. I just stripped an 86 VR and was very surprised at how easily it all came apart, it won't be extremely difficult - couple of hours start to finish - no special tools - about a 12 pack job. Bull

I live in one of the best spots in the country for rides - Pacific NW - Have 3 scoots and my only dilemma is which one comes out of its stall today. During the week when traffics down and the roads are dry the 86' Eliminator ZL900 comes out alot and it's to the mountain roads for some sssspppppeeedd handling rides. Day trip to Seattle - 2 hour drive - or to the ocean beaches 1 hour ride with no rider many times it's the 82' Maxim XJ110J - more room to carry stuff and lots of POWER to keep up / set the pace with buds on crotch rockets. When it's Momma and mwah out rolls the 83' VR for comfort, speed and handling for two up, especially on longer hauls - like those improv trips to BEST rib joint in the NW in Spokane, WA - 10 hour round trip. Come on out for a ride and a BBQ anytime. Bull

Bull; from Port Angeles, WA - I qualify can see W Canada from my yard. Ready anytime anywhere for one out our way. Let's see for a Meet n Eat out here we'd have salmon, dungeness crab, halibut, clams. moose, elk and maybe a hot dog or 2. Ready and willing and can supply fresh crab as much as I can pack on the scoot anyway.

There are some fantastic rides on the Peninsula. Port Angeles is the pivot point for most of the rides here. Perfect riding weather from mid May to October 1st - low 60's to low 80's daytime - low 50's to hi 60's nighttime - far enough North daylight hours from 430 am to 1030 pm june - july. Port Angeles is jump off point for ferry to Vancouver Island and Victoria BC, Great rides on Vancouver Island, plenty of Cutters needed summer inland though, damn skeeters. My house is outside of Port Angeles on side of a mountain over looking Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island across the water, plenty of room with acerage for tent campers, can board in house as well, couple of extra bedrooms and loads of floor space. Large Hot tub to soothe those iron butts and decent shop to tinker on scoots or if needed major work. Wife and I love company and lots of friends wander in and out during summer "doing the Peninsula" all are welcome. Please this is not an insincere invite, feel free to give us a call and come see some great riding country with what we hope you'll feel some decent hospitality from us. You'll meet a lot of folks here from all over this area, just might make some lifelong friends, great bunch of folks show up around here all summer. Ferry up inside passage goes to many jump off points allowing you to skip tundra areas where noseeums will tear your ass up. I use the alsakan "hiway" many times, it's inexpensive, you can jump off and jump back on anytime anywhere for one price, camp on deck free, cafeteria's, hot showers and let's you put senseless miles where they belong behind you and you can cherry pick GREAT sites with MUCH more time. Check it out google alaska ferry system have schedules fares et all really inexpensive and AWESOME scenery from boat as you go to next drop off. Bull

Trying to price parts on 86 VR, any advice appreciated. My thoughts on it here, feel free to punch holes in my theory. I truly don't know what to price these parts at, first time I have ever parted one out. I might be wrong and if I am I'd welcome some constructive criticisim. My thought is that since most of these parts are no longer available as OEM that the parts that are mint or near mint (my coin collecting vernacular coming out) should be worth at a minnimum half of what retail prices were when they were available. Some of the plastic parts, the ones that are most likely the rarest in top condition should by demand bring a higher price than what retail used to be. Based on those thoughts I think I should ask somewhere in the vicinity of 50% of retail for mint/near mint and adjust percentage down from there based on condition issues. Also this not being how I put bread on the table and having bought used parts myself and getting burnt occasionally I will gaurantee any mechanical or electrical parts to function and function properly, unless stated by me that function of the part is unknown and being sold as/is, money back gaurantee after part is returned minus shipping cost if any. If I would have realized how tough this would be I would have done more research before I started. I mistakenly thought I could ask folks to offer a fair price and for the most part they would. I could get more at the scrap yard than some offered as fair. There have been a couple of fair offers not all are bad. Thanks, Bull

Have it listed on Craig's, guy just offered me $150 for rolling frame and title, he's making a trike. With shipping cost a few of you'd be looking at it might be more than you want to look at. I haven't accepted his offer yet told him to give me until next Wed. Jim
