LED Turn signals and Front lamps
awsmsrv replied to a topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
You'll just have to use load equalizers. Kinda defeats the purpose of the LEDs, however. That's assuming you want to use less current. -
I know some of you have this. Interested, but leary. 3 hours of battery power just doesn't make sense to me. What do you do about the short battery life? Do you carry spares? Is there a way to hard wire it to the bike? Thanks in advance.

VMAX Rear for RSV ordered

Don, did you ever find out which 1 you got? The MAX-RS listed under Royal Star or the MAX-Venture listed under Venture? -
Flanders Bars & Leveling links
awsmsrv replied to LWesson's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I've got the leveling links, but can you expand on the Flanders bars? What makes them feel better? Are they higher, closer, different angle? I'm interested. Thanks. -
Those of you who have installed your SH: What percentage did you program into it? Would the recommended -5.5% be good enough? Are they all (RSV) off the same amount? Thanks.

VMAX Rear for RSV ordered

Which 1 are you going with? I went to their website & there is the MAX-RS listed under Royal Star & MAX-Venture listed under Venture. Both descriptions are exactly the same. Are they, in fact, the same? This interests me a lot, too. Thanks. PS - Welcome home. -
Oh, I was a member of this club the day I went to test ride the bike before it was even mine. Dropped it in the dealer parking lot before the test ride. Even though it bucked me off its back, I bought it anyway. LOL

Just starting to rain this morning as I pull out of the garage. Previous owner put a darned slippery slurry coat on the driveway (hate it). I get to the end of the driveway & slow down because an SUV is coming down the hill & around the bend to my left. Tires slip & as the SUV goes by I feel it starting to fall to the right, so I figure I might as well exit the driveway to the right, down the hill. Couldn't save it. Laid it down gently, tried a couple times to lift it, but the darned driveway is too slick to keep my boots from slipping. Went & enlisted my wife to help me lift it back up. Not so embarassing, just more fodder to have the driveway redone.

The manual recommends 80W. Amsoil makes several from 75W-90 to 75W-110 to 75W-140. What are you using? Some of Amsoil's is labeled "Severe Gear Oil". Is this overkill or is it good? Reasons why you use whatever it is you use is also appreciated. Thanks.

That's the one I bought, too. As well, I have Larry's Lift Adapter. Great combo.

I've researched this some & I'd probably go with JE Illusions. They're in Oregon, not quite in your backyard, but I plan to use them when it's time to paint mine.

I've actually thought about something similar but using foot-long LED Flexible Arrays from customdynamics.com. I'm also considering another idea: replace the LED strip in the Trunk Wing Light with a smaller mid-section for the running/brake strip & 2 small amber strips on either side as additional turn signals. All are available from Custom Dynamics.

Anyone here tried this product: Garage Door Opener: http://www.autoswitch.com/2006/models/as5pg2/as5pg2_index.shtml. Sounds like a very useful item. Maybe this one, too: Passing Lamps: http://www.autoswitch.com/2006/models/as5p/as5p_index.shtml for turning on/off the passing lamps.

Yes, I have the BackOffXP since I converted to the LED tail/brake light. http://customdynamics.com/signal_dynamics_back_off_brake_light_modulator.htm

That's exactly what happened to me a couple months ago. Fortunately, the guy behind me helped me get it back on its wheels again. I wasn't really embarrassed, just annoyed at the road: sloped & rutted. Wasn't able to avoid the rut in the rain. I don't like that road (at the stop light, where it happened) even when it's dry.

Great answer. Thanks. Now I just have to find those mile markers (once the weather allows: Seattle).

I have also been considering getting a SpeedoHealer. I don't have a GPS, so I'm wondering how you'd go about calibrating it. Maybe find a willing cop to use his radar gun as I ride by at 70mph? The percentage error seems to me to be more of an educated guess than real data, in this case. What other ways are there of reliably gauging my speed?Sheesh! Will I ever stop finding ways to spend money on this bike? LOL

Yeah, I just watched one go for $90 something a few days ago. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one on there. Thanks.
