  1. Happy Birthday, really. You don't seem to be on here as much lately, what's up??? Gary
  2. Parts breakdown shows 7 bolts, in 3 different sizes holding cover on. Nothing else. Gary
  3. Nice goin' there Snag, now I feel like a slacker for my response. Gary
  4. I found a couple of pictures of a 2nd gen VMax motor on the VMax site. No way it will go into a 1st gen without MAJOR modifications, there are no mount points on the block to hold it similar to stock mounts. Gary
  5. You say you are in middle of removing them,, At what point are you having problem, would help with giving advice. Gary
  6. Loosen the adjuster at the throttle grip. Underneath switch housing there is a thumb screw on 1 cable, run it in closer to grip. Also run adjuster all the way in on the carb body adjuster, this one is a 10mm wrench adjust. This will allow slack in cables at carb end & allow cables to be removed. Gary
  7. That is not stock. Could be anything. Gary
  8. I'm pretty damn fast, I take $20, hand it to neighbor kid & driveway is done. Gary
  9. Picture needs to be under 800x600 size. When you post or reply to thread scroll down to Manage Attachments, click on it. Click on top browse button in new window, then go to where pic is on PC and click on it. Then click on Upload on right side of Manage attachment window. If that doesn't work let me know and there is a Plan B Gary
  10. I don't think that was the kind of water he was referring to !! Think #1 Gary
  11. Attached is a picture of the retainer spring washer in the 1st gens, other than the 84. The 6 fingered washer keeps choke from slipping back. Gary
  12. From the photo it is hard to tell if it the twinkie or the rubber plug behind the finned cover that is leaking. Gary
  13. I have a spare rotor only, no starter clutch plate in it. Yours if it will help. Gary
  14. Look at this thread. http://venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=66486 Gary
  15. 4 into 4 is the worst setup for exhaust. It is a process that is call 'Scavenging' that comes into play with a 2 into 1 or 4 into 1 header that helps keep the exhaust gases moving in the pipes. Gary
  16. An 85 is a 1200, not a 1300. 86 was first year for 1300. Otherwise there are no wiring changes, TCI is the same. It should be a straight swap. What pictures do you need, I have a 1000 pictures (at least) of an 83 converted to a 1300 from an 88. Gary
  17. Do you have cruise control? Takes a different switch if you do. I might have a non cruise one. Gary
  18. I whole heartedtly agree with this, Some of the fairer sex members may take exception. Gary
  19. Copied this while it was still here !! Gary
  20. With the one I showed above, it wanted 'eye' pointed down towards pavement. Yup, it was in $70 buck range as I recall. Gary
  21. You are correct, I have a Classsic Venture and the bags need to be removed on the MKI. One of the few pieces on it that is still from the 83, as it was born. Gary
  22. Modulators are legal in all 50 states per federal law. This is not legal, it must have the photo eye along with a number of other restrictions. One of them being the modulator does not flash the light completely on and off, it dims it to a specified power level within a specified number of cycles per minute. Attached is a copy of the law if you care to read it. Hope you have your wrist radio with you, you may need it. Also is a picture of a Diamond Star unit less than 2" sq x 1/2" thick. It can be turned off during day by hitting high beam/low beam cycle, or modulation rate can be set to high by beeping horn fast twice. Gary
  23. Remove the saddle bags, there is a 12mm bolt on each side in somewhat of a slotted opening in seat frame. They do not stick out, you gotta get down and look in to see them. Remove & seat will slide rearward & out. Gary
  24. The pinion gear in the final drive is a weak link in putting a lot of power to the rear wheel, small diameter and can be snapped off. Also drive shafts will twist. The chain drive eliminates the two right angle power transmission changes. Thus it puts more actual HP to the rear wheel and it can be made as sturdy as you can afford. Gary
  25. Some close ups of the 'tank' cover and details would be great !! Gary
