  1. I have some extra units coming that are unsold at this point. If you can get me a down payment on one I will hold it for you. The MAP sensor is what I may not be able to help you with. I bought enough to match the number of TCI's I am getting. My supplier is in China and shipping is not cheap from this factory. I also have some extra USB/Com cables coming. Other than that, I will give you any information, programs or help you need. Gary
  2. I have the software program for the V88 module and it is the same as the V80 for the most part. There are several upgrades to it, but I think overall the functioning will not be affected by these upgrades. I have new MAP sensors on order for the new modules also. If someone doesn't want a new MAP sensor, the price is $20 less. But I am leaning towards putting a new sensor on. The stock sensors have been known to fail. The harnesses are being made with the connection for the new MAP sensor, if someone wants to hook into the stock sensor I will configure harness for that. Gary
  3. Changing motor to 89 or older is no change to TCI. Changing to a 90-93 will need a new program loaded into it via a laptop & USB/com cable. Also harness will need reconfigured, this is not real hard to do & I can supply changes, or I can do it for you. This is due to pickup coil difference between 83-89 & 90-93 motors. On the 83 bikes I will ship a rubber cap to block port on carbs & vacuum will be attached to #2 intake. This makes the 83 motor function the same as the 84-89 as far as vacuum is concerned. Gary
  4. I don't know how much testing testing they done, this is more of a modification to the existing unit. They have done upgrades to this same style TCI in the past and it worked fine. If you let me know soon I can have them send the V80 module for you. Gary
  5. Couple of pictures of Condor's improved fork brace. Gary
  6. You did not offend me, that was just me being sarcastic. I was a US Marine, I have had sergeants that prided themselves in being able to offend recruits try hard for 3 months at Parris Island to live up to that goal. I survived that, I can live with being poked at about my lack of grammatical skills. Gary
  7. For what it is worth, I found another American seller of this TCI on line today. He only wants $495 plus $8 shipping and no MAP sensor. http://planetvmax.com/85-07vmax/motor/ignitor-box/ I got some extras coming so if you still want to get one, let me know. I'm charging $250, US shipping included, with a small fee if paid by paypal. Gary
  8. I know you didn't ask this question, but I am gonna answer it anyways. The drive shaft is shorter on the MKI's when compared to the MKII's. Picture attached shows difference. With all that being typed, if there is this much difference in the shaft, rear drive must be different. Gary
  9. I gotta say english was a subject I struggled with in school, but what the hell is wrong with that line??? Gary
  10. I only have 2932 posts in the 1222 days I have been member here. Wasn't very active first 2 years so take 730 days off for good behavior and that works out to 5.95 posts a day. Almost a postahorus. And more than a few weren't that all helpful, I'm sure. And if anyone wants to try it, below is a link to where you can ignore a members post. They won't show up on your screen. Located in the user CP on this forum, might be a good time to try it out. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/profile.php?do=ignorelist http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/kangaroo.gif Gary
  11. I got you covered Dan, I worked all the OT I could in January so I could get some extra ones of these. I just placed an order for 20 units of the V88 version. I'm thinking 8500 is right where the valves started floating on mine when it was pure stock. 8000 might be safer, but it is your call. I'll set it wherever you want in 100 rpm increments. Gary
  12. The connectors to the dash are different between the harnesses that have the standard 83 dash on them and ones that have the upgraded dash with gear indicator & stopwatch functions. If harness came from a bike that had cruise, then your non cruise brake (2) & clutch switches will not fit it. Rear harness connector to tail light & air compressor is different. Gary
  13. Does the donor have cruise? How about the recipient? If cruise is involved on one, there is some other things that need swapped. Does one or both or neither have a gear position indicator on bottom of dash display? By the way do this. I'm to old to remember what bikes you have. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58880 Gary
  14. The statement I made referring to 2nd gen calipers was in error. I have not used them. It should have read MKII front calipers, which are 4 piston units from the 86-93 bikes. You will need 282mm rotors with the MKII calipers. Also need the lower fork tubes from an 86-93. The 86-87 units have a different mount position for the anti dive valves than the 88-93 forks. You should while you are in there put progressive springs on it and eliminate the anti dives. Skydoc17 sells a block off plate for the anti dives. Picture attached. Gary
  15. Below is a link to the replacement plastic covers for the neeble jet holes. I had a carb that a wasp built a nest in one of the open holes. $8 shipping included for 4 of them. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=3754&title=1st-gen-carb-needle-jet-hole-covers&cat=33 Also attached is a picture showing the needle valve point sticking through the venturi when it is seated. Gary
  16. I might be concerned about the 83-85 front master with upgraded calipers. The 83-85's have a 12.7mm dia. master. The 86-93's have a 14mm dia master which is what I have used successfully with the upgraded MKII quad piston calipers and also a set of R1 calipers. The 12.7mm may not have enough volume for the bigger piston volumes. Especially if you delink the brakes. But that's just my opinion. Gary
  17. I have been exchanging emails yesterday & today with people at Ignitech. I am planning on ordering the units Thursday evening. Today their engineer asked me if I wanted the new V88 units in this group. They have developed a new unit that is optimized for a Vacuum sensor (MAP) instead of the Throttle position sensor (TPS) the earlier model was designed for. The TCI has been used with the TPS but with an input from the vacuum sensor. This has worked out fairly well but they have improved on this concept. I have included the email from him next. (in blue) We have completed development of a new version (v88) TCIP4 unit which is suitable for use with pressure sensor (IAPS). The standard version (V80) was developed for use with throttle position sensor (TPS). Entering values in advance map for pressure sensor is in version 80 very difficult. Version 88 has the choice if it is used TPS or IAPS and adjusts accordingly advance map. The signal from the TPS in version 80 is processed every 10 miliseconds. When using a pressure sensor instead of TPS there are large fluctuations in the signal IAPS, especially at low speeds. In version 88 is IAPS signal processed as average of 2 rpm, so there is no measurement fluctuations. We have also now measured characteristics of the original pressure sensor of the Venture. We have two questions: 1) Do you want for the current order version 80 or 88? 2) Do you want to modify the connector adapter for using original pressure sensor from the Venture? I replied to them that I would like to have the new version if the cost was the same as the prior version. I can always use it as before with the TPS setting. If it is same cost, I will get the new V88 units, which can still be used with a new MAP sensor. It has the advantage of being able to use the existing bikes vacuum sensor and still be a 'Plug & Play' If I do not supply the new MAP sensor I can reduce the cost of the unit by $20. I have not yet ordered sensors from supplier in China. At this point, I recommend getting the new MAP sensor, especially in the case of a 1st gen bike. There have been many failures of the stock sensor. I have emailed them with some other questions about this and hope to hear from them tomorrow Gary
  18. Partshark.com is my favorite for OEM parts. Gary
  19. Charlie, If you find a decent set of VMax carbs you want to get, my suggestion would be get them. The carbs will swap out with the Ventures with a slight modification to the choke lever setup. Then swap out the main jets in your existing carbs with the ones in the VMax carbs. This is easy to do with the rack off the bike. If you don't swap out the mains, the bike will run very rich. The bigger mains are part of a broader package which involves cams, heads, air intake, Vboost system & exhaust system. Bigger is not always better. Then you will have a set of carbs that will give you some more power, not all it can get, but enough. Gary
  20. That's way over rated, there are parts from several racks that went into final assembly. VMax #2 body and ckoke linkages. Modified throttle cable mounting plates to clear frame due to VBoost. Belt sanded bottom of carb throat about 1/16" to help clear frame, etc... That's why I take so many pictures. Charlie, ignore pictures attached, these are from modified carbs. Gary
  21. The basic kit will work, you need to clip a tad off of the float seal spring, I attached a picture of what that takes. Venture valve is on bottom. VMax jets are defiantly different though. Gary
  22. You also NEED to get a basic carb rebuild kit, 4 of them one for each carb. Get a hold of MiCarl, I think he is selling these, or Squidly and see what he used. Almost always the jet block gasket gets mangled when removing jet block. This has to come off to get access to pilot jet in it. Pictures are on the way, I have many others of carb rack completely assembled if you need them for reference. Gary
  23. Here are a few pictures of what this gets into. Gary
  24. PM me an email address and I will send you a Zip file containing about 30 or so pictures of my 83 carbs being torn down. To big to post on here. Zip file is about 7 meg. Gary
