1. At this point you probably should split the starter swich housing apart and look at the cables. If there is ANY fraying, they need replaced. Also look at tke white plastic housing on throttle grip that cables hook into and see if any appear broken. Chech the adjuster onder the starter switch housing and see if it damaged. It is probably just the 'pull' cable that may be damaged. But this is always the one to fail. The 'push' (return) cable sees little pressure in its life. You may need to disengage cables to operate them and throttle independently to find source of damage. Gary
2. Don't waste your time. The inside of the vacuum tube is 5/32" in diameter. You are looking at a negligible amount of added air/fuel mixture flow. This was thought of as the poor man's VBoost, which is used on VMaxs to tie the front and back carbs together on either side above 6,000 rpm's. I tried it several years ago and didn't leave it on long. Also would you look at this thread to get your bikes info in your display. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58880 Gary

92 versus 89

As Bongo said the stock TCI's are not interchangeable on 89 & earlier bikes & 90-93 bikes. And to further confuse this, since one of the posters here is getting an Ignitech TCI from me, the Ignitech can be used on an 83-93 bike. The difference with the aftermarket TCI is that the adapter harness is wired differently and a different program is loaded into TCI. The forks are different, including the lower tubes and some of the internal fork parts on 90-93's. Wiring is almost unchanged for all MKII's. With exception of pickup coil & wiring into TCI for 90-93's. Wiring harness will vary between a standard & royale regardless of year. With exception of stator cover, motor is identical. Nothing else comes to mind in the way of differences. Gary
4. That's one of the better reason's to own a 1st gen, they are ridin' machines, not washin' machines !! Gary
5. Here are a couple of other shots of the original version of Carl's plates. Will look identical to these. Gary
6. Carl, Could you put a spacer in behind the right side plate to offset it enough to clear brake line. Probably a 1/4" (6mm to you) should clear brake line. They aren't very much at hardware stores. Mcmastercarr has some nylon ones that would work. http://www.mcmaster.com/#unthreaded-spacers/=g9kx9o About $8 for 100 pieces. Gary
7. Well if you got them for free then you saved the $40, and gained some fork knowledge !! That's partshark.com pricing. But there are a number of places that sell oem stuff discounted. Every part I have got from partshark has been in oem packaging. Minimum shipping is about $10 though with them, there may be better options. Gary
8. Saying you saved $40 may make you feel better, but... Even list price on OEM seals is $26.72 x 2 = $53.44 or Discounted price on OEM seals is $18.16 x 2 = $36.32 Those must have been some cheap seals to have saved $40 Don't worry, as many times as you have had these in and out already, you may get to put another set in soon, one little nick. (couldn't help myself with this one) Gary
9. Did you wake up and say, "I'll never drink that much again" Gary
10. And that is why you are leader for life. I'm the forum mentally challenged individual. (My PC offering). I just hope you weren't doing all this in your jamies in some hotel somewhere ?? Thank You, Gary
11. Venturerider And what's more interesting, that isn't showing up in watering hole. I had to go to thread to see that. In watering hole I see a list of ebay sales, then at very bottom, I see what is in pic I attached. 1st is in watering hole, 2nd is in this thread. Gary
12. This sucks, IE is doing same thing. I just cleared everything in firefox and that didn't help. Gary
13. I deleted my venture related cookes, restarted firefox (10.0.1), and still the same. 2 pictures I just captured attached. Gary
14. My avatar is the venture motor your mother warned you about, and my profile is me in front of a my 83 about 4 years ago. It looks so plain, shiny, but begging for some mods. Gary
15. Here are a few pictures and a drawing of the muffler hanger needed. These are MKII brackets on an 83 frame & mufflers. (I think, know its an 83 frame) Gary
16. Oh fearless leader, I think this is a repeat of an earlier problem you had fixed. If I open search from a thread, I get enhanced version, if I open it from watering hole, I get prior version without the new goodies. The google search option is there from the watering hole, which I think is what prior issue was. Gary
17. And another thing, The 'Improved' search version shows up at work on IE, but not at home on Firefox. I know the very stock answer, clear my cookies. Why does this have to be done so often for Firefox, but not IE? Gary
18. That cleaned it up a lot, never mind "& other stuff" part. But as a left field suggestion, possibly just relate it to the Tech sections. That's actually a nice feature, probably will be little used though. Gary
19. Don't know where you mean? Inside the search tab? This looks different, now there are tabs to list your threads & posts, that I only recall seeing before in the user profile. Also unanswered threads, which is a cluster, cause it list classifieds & other stuff that will never be answered. Also has thanked posts. Gary
20. These are a source of idling problems if they are not tight. I have gotten them from partshark.com last year. Gary
21. What was the Elapsed Time/MPH/60' time for the car? Gary
22. Couple of pictures of the area that needs adjusted. Not shown in picture are lock nuts, 29mm (1 1/8") main nuts and center plate which holds cover. Gary
23. I have rode a number of harleys in the last two years. two sportsters, a road glide, a dyna glide and a CVO ultra. The 2011 CVO was an 1800cc (110ci) and the sorriest performer of the bunch considering the motor size, 6 speed transmission. A nice riding bike in general, but for $33,000, I still haven't hit the mid life crisis hard enough. The sportsters were OK nothing to get exited about if you are into an off balance washing machine between your legs. The Road Glide is a 2007, 1600cc (98ci) with a stage 3 kit in it. Considering the weight of the bike it is somewhat better than the sportsters. The Dyna glide is a 105 anniversary bike with a 1450cc (88ci) It has been upgraded initially to a stage 4 kit, then again, with a larger bore kit, cams, carb ect. It is by far the quickest of the HD's I have in recent past been on. The Road Glide would be the only one of these I would ever consider having just for the fact of the frame mounted fairing. But if you think a venture handles bad at low speed, don't try one of these. As far as acceleration, the Dyna Glide is the best, but with over 10K in the motor it should be. The road glide I can take by about 5 bike lengths in 1st gear. The Dyna is about even overall with me. The sportsters are not even close. The CVO was one I rode at a demo day ride, but it was pitiful. Gary My sons sportster. My cousins sons Road Glide A freinds sportster (was my cosins sons for a while) My cousins Dyna Glide The CVO I road, needs a chain on it and it would be a great anchor.
24. Carl, From the brake parts I have acquired, which has helped the UPS drivers retirement BTW, the 2nd picture does not look at all stock. And the first one is sort of close, but I don't think it is stock either. The style of the clamped part of the hose does not look stock in the first one & banjo bolt looks different. Picture I posted is near worthless for your actual question, but on the left you can see the original hose and banjo bolt styles. This was from my 83 once upon a time. Gary
25. Is anyone going to Thunder in the Valley June 21-24th, Johnstown Pa. http://www.visitjohnstownpa.com/thunderinthevalley/ Next link is from VMax contingent. http://www.vmoa.net/modules/xcenter/?storyid=18 Looks like I will be there. Gary
