  1. Thanks for the feedback Ruffy. I understand your advice on the rear replacement. It really is decent, but i just have this thing about mismatched parts. I would like to replace all the calipers and add braided lines. I also considered upgrading to the Road Star front M/C but i would rather replace the calipers and assess it from there. Any other opinions ?
  2. Hi All, I know the R1/R6 monoblock calipers will bolt on to our Royals front forks.. My question is if the same monoblock will bolt onto the rear? The caliper looks identical to me. Any ideas?
  3. Thanks for the positive comments. I have been trolling around the site for info for a while now and thought it was time i posted some pics.
  4. Hi All, Added a few new parts to my new (to me) 96 Royal. Cobra drag pipes, Corbin Solo Seat, Barons Star Bars, Kuryakyn Curved lighted licence plate holder, Barons Ultimate Light Bar and rear fender rack. I am happy with the new parts but as always there is more to do. Next is internally wiring the bars, blacking out and polished fins on the engine covers, tacho, braided lines all round, bigfoot mod and Dyna ignition. Ahh, so much to do....so little money.
  5. Hi All, Received my Barons Ultimate Light Bar recently. Amazing quality, very happy. Just went to fit it only to find no wiring in the harness for driving lights! Barons spell it out in the instructions that there should be a blue wire for the left and right driving lights as well as the the two left and right turn signals. Turn signal cabling is fine. Nothing to be seen for the driving lights! I have checked the loom in case it just wasnt run into the original light bar and nothing! I can only assume its something to do with Australian compliance laws as I cannot imagine they would leave them out for any other reason. Not sure what people buying the Genuine Yamaha lightbar thought when they went to fit them also. Now i will have to run a feed directly from the battery via a relay. Its just extra hassle i didnt want. I just thought it was very bizzare. Any other Aussie riders out there who have found the same issue?
  6. Just a quick update. I picked up the new beast. Its a lovely thing to ride even though it scrapes everywhere it goes and the brakes are almost criminally bad. Power was a pleasant surprise. I know the early Royals are known for being underpowered but it had more poke than i expected. Granted its no powerhouse but it has a decent turn of speed when revved out cleanly. All in all i am very bloody happy. Looks cool now its stripped down of sissy bars and screens, and although it had stock pipes it makes a fantastic noise. I think the original packing may be giving up the ghost. That V4 note is addictive! Makes Harleys sound kinda.......boring really.
  7. Thanks very much for the reply. Will look into them.
  8. Haha yes 'eyebrows' is as good a description as any. I just wanted confirmation that the radius of the 'eyebrows' was the same so it follows the fender line of the Royal. These seem a little hard to find. One of the joys of owning an older model bike i suppose.
  9. Hi All, Can anyone tell me if the rear rear fender struts are compatible between the Royal and Road Stars? They look almost identical. I have stripped the sissy bar and rear seat off my new(to me) Royal Star Standard and dont have the crescent shaped fender struts and I need to replace them. If anyone has any lying around they would be prepared to part with please let me know. Any help appreciated.
  10. Thanks for the replys. Yeah i realise the 4 into 4 isnt the most efficient exhaust but it just looks so damn cool!
  11. Hi All, I have introduced myself in the new members section so i wont bore you again. To the questions! I am picking up my 96 Royal Star tomorrow and am looking at ways to unleash the beast being a serial modder like i am! way the reviews read you would think the poor bike could not pull the head off a custard its supposedly so underpowered. However i dont expect it to be anywhere near that bad. I suspect its just a bunch of harley riding journos who arent actually used to a bike that actually revs out! My plan of attack is 4 into 4 slipons( it is bone stock!) dyna 3000 ignition, big air kit , vmax cams and springs and 32mm carbs. I might look at the Vmax rear hub as well but i would prefer to see how it pulls after the engine mods first. Now the issues! 4 into 4 pipes seem non existent now. Am i best off finding some generic aftermarkets and fabbing some mounts? Also can the cams and springs be swapped without removing the engine? Any help appreciated. Great to be here.
