  1. I'm sorry to hear of your spill. Your bike can get fixed but sometimes you can't. I hope your knee and calf will heel back to 100%. Glad to hear your wife got off without injury.
  2. The time is almost here. I have the whole month of July off and taking my new tent trailer and off I go to Las Vegas. My route down is planned but of course open to different sights as the days progress. My route home I will be winging it thru Texas to the ocean then to New Orleans. From there I have no idea yet. Stay safe everyone and I hope to keep checking in.
  3. Evan I'll have to take a better look at your grips then I can see what they look like on a 2nd gen when I get to meet retusn while I'm in Vegas.
  4. We use a product called Odor Control Skunked. It works great. It works better the sooner the dog is bathed and you only need to bath the dog once. However, if the dog gets wet for the next month (or few weeks any ways) the smell does come back a bit.
  5. Sounds like it was a good day alround. You fell in love with your bike all over again. And you got to ride with your Dad. By the way, what did your Dad think of your bike?
  6. I would like to thank Don (Freebird) for helping me with my bike, by doing the carb sync and then turning me over to Ken (V7Goose) who had great patience with me by talking me through some simple (for him) procedures to check my spark plugs. Also Charlie (Frogmaster) for guiding me through my radio repair under my fairing. This was a great weekend. I learned a lot and will be able to assist someothers down the road who may be in my boat of not having the confidence to take apart somethings to perform some (what should be) simple maintenance.
  7. Ben, congratulations to you and your wife. And of course your Son and Daughter In-law.
  8. Great pics Evan, thanks for sharing them.
  9. Don, thank you for the site and vision you had and have for Venture Riders. I had a great time at MD and thank you for hosting such an enormous undertaking. And thank you for the carb sync you did on my bike. I'm sure you need a weeks vacation now to rest up. Your a busy man, but then successful people are busy, so keep up the great work.
  10. I was shocked seeing you guys. I think the only reason I got ahead of you is I didnt stop to eat until I hit Buffalo.
  11. great pics Al. You captured some good memories there, but that one......... do we have to remember?
  12. Gary, great pictures. Looks like your having an awesome time. MD was superb. Great weather too.
  13. Good to hear from you. Glad all is going well. You will be missed at MD, but we know your having a good time where you are.
  14. I will be there. Looking forward to it.
  15. I looked at my code, it was close, but not a winner. Thanks any way.
  16. Mark, congratulations on getting the bike back up and running. Your Son is going to be very excited and proud of you. The two of you will have some memorable times while riding.
  17. Ben, I know you worked hard so the day would be perfect for your daughter and guests. Congratulations to your daughter and son-inlaw. I'm glad the day and event where a success.
  18. Gary, you and Mary be safe and have a great time. I look forward to your updates.
  19. Carl, glad you are ok and I hope that is your 3rd and your free and clear for the summer. Good luck with the insurance co.
  20. They really look nice on your bike. Good choice.
  21. Thanks for the pointers about the heat and fluids that I will need to drink. I'm going to be camping along the way and must do a certain distance each day to ensure I arrive in time to pick my wife up at the airport. I guess I will have to be getting up pretty early to keep to my schedule. Ron I will call you when I check into the condo. Dave
  22. My 07 also dropped its millage in half this year. Average 40 mpg to only around 20 to 23 mpg. I have not ridden too much but put 4 tanks in. I rode this past weekend pulling a trailer and filled up 3 times. I expect to get worse millage towing, but I wasn't towing for the other 4 fill ups. My four pipes are hot and it sounds the same as last year with the exception, I am now getting that dreaded whine that I have read so much about. Wow the noise makes the radio not sound so good.
  23. Thank you Gentlemen, the links you gave me spell it out very simply. I appreciate the help.
  24. I will be off to Las Vegas July 3rd leaving from Toronto Canada. We must always wear a helmet in Canada so I have a question about helmet laws in the following States? It would be a treat to feel the wind blow thru what little hair I have before it is all gone. Route down: Michigan Ohio Indiana Illinois Missouri Kansas Colorado New Mexico Arizona Nevada Possible route home: Texas Louisiana Mississippi Alabama Florida Georgia Tennessee Kentucky Any knowledge that you might have would be greatly appreciated.
  25. My dream trip with my wife on our bike is being planned for when we retire. 4 months or longer. From Toronto out to California along the coast into Mexico. Then back along southern states down to the tip of the Florida keys. Seven years to wait for this trip. I learned from Scott (mother) who went to Alaska don't keep putting off too long your dream plans so this July I have 4 weeks off and riding down to Vegas. My wife will fly down and meet me there for a week and then I'll be riding home. This should be a good taste to a longer vacation without any time lines.
