  1. Happy Birthday Rhonda. The weather cooperated, did you get out on your bike?
  2. Flyinfool, are you going to bring a helicopter or plane to entertain us with at MD?
  3. Don, you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Early stages all sound positive, so do as they say and be as positive as you always are.
  4. Ice cream, and peanut butter cup flavor also. Yes I will partake in an allowable portion size bowl or cone which ever it is going to be. I can foresee a cash register needed and a sheriff standing by to calm the crowds and keep the peace.
  5. Camping. I have a trailer, tent trailer and a tent. I even have a tarp to sleep under the stars. I guess I do like camping. Like Captainjoe, Love seadooing, water skiing, down hill skiing. Golf, Volleyball, and I took up flying RC helicopters a couple years ago. Still not any good at it though. Oh yah, love searching for my next vacation almost as much as being on vacation. The world is our playground. My wife is recently complaining that I am high maintenance as like so many of you are handy at fixing this, I am not.
  6. I bought a pair of Bering water proof gloves last year. I only got to test them out in a light rain and they seemed fine. The palm has grip strips on them. Good luck and happy hunting
  7. Merry Christmas to everyone. If I may post a quote: "Happiness is a decision away". Easier said then done, with all the stuff people are going thru in their lives. But it is really true. We are as happy as we decide to be. Have a Happy, Healthy and Terrific New Year.
  8. Gary, I'm glad everything went well. Good luck in your recovery, and do take the time to rest so you won't re-injure it.
  9. Congratulations Gary. Great pictures with you and Mary holding your new Grandson. And of course Mom looks very good also.
  10. Ben, Our prayers for your Father have also been asked.
  11. Welcome back to the site, and I hope the training went well for the dogs.
  12. Hello Don and God be with you and your recovery. If the Dr. Said two weeks and you and your work can allow those two weeks you really should take them off. That way if after a certain amount of time your eyes feels tired or sore at home you can stop what your doing and close your eye and let it rest. We must listen to our bodies. They do speak to us thru this thing called pain. We can help ourselves by doing what our bodies need. I have learned that finally after taking too long for some injuries to heal. With saying this the Dr. and his time lines may not be right. It is a guess it could be more or less. But please listen to what your body is telling you so you may have the best recovery possible. We all love you and are praying often.
  13. I say you where in the back of the cruiser, not because you where arrested, but to ask the fine Officer where he would recommend you could eat, and get an Icecream.
  14. Gary, I hope the medications are working and Mary is feeling better and stronger each day.
  15. Gary, congratulations. You did it. You rode up to Alaska and around. You and Mary must have made some incredible memories together. Im sure some, fun, beautiful and scarey memories, but that is what life is for. Welcome back to your Shuttle. Have an enjoyable visit and safe drive home.
  16. Sorry, I cant give you any suggestions for camp sites, but I did ride thru the Colorado Mountains the first week of July this year. Beautiful, breath taking. I just camped when I came across them, but I will tell you it is cold in the mountains. It went down to 34 degrees. (1 celsius) I did not have warm clothes for sleeping as I was only planning on the heat for when I got to Vegas. I slept with all my clothes on and MC gloves and chaps. So, my advice bring warm sleeping gear. It will be in the 80's in the day but 30's at night. Have a safe and fun time. Oh yes watch out for bears. Not food or coolers in your tent. If you are cooking leave your clothes that you cooked and ate in outside also. The park Rangers also told me to leave tooth paste outside as the bears will come in to eat that.
  17. The exact thing happened to me 3 days ago on I44. I had 2 bars left. The low fuel light never came on and my bike choked and died. I pulled onto shoulder and it would not start. Luckily I was on vacation with my trailer so I had a gas can with gas. Poured all the gas in and it started right away. The next gas stn I filled up with the highest octane they had. The fill up before I may have used an 85 by mistake instead of an 87 that is here in Canada. I was hoping that was the problem just not enough octane.
  18. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Charlie, the trailer is pulling and working great. In Kansas I had to pack up at 2:30am as the trailer park was flooding where I was. No rain leaked in but the water was up almost 3 inches on the ground and my floor is 4 inches off the ground. I just had my original rear tire replaced here in Vegas at 17494 miles. The heat and pulling the trailer really took it's toll. I'm not complaining. I was very happy with the millage I got out of it. I luckily noticed I was missing a nut and bolt off my trailer hitch attached to my bike. That would not have been good. It is now replaced.
  19. Helmet lost on Sunday and I was lucky enough on Monday to be able to buy the same one I had. $180 and they discounted it for $118 for me. The condo we are staying at gave us a $100 credit card so I used that then paid the extra with cash. Now I just have to find a head set and I'm back in business. We went to the Hoover Dam today and without the intercom it sure makes talking with my wife difficult to enjoy. Tomorrow we are going to Zion National Park for an over night camping trip.
  20. Well I had a great ride to here. Picked my wife up at the airport then later went out to pick up some things at walmart. Came back out and it was taken off my seat. Yup an easy mark I never locked it up. I'll be shopping tomorrow after checking out some pawn shops. Themselves the breaks. At least I didn't lose the bike
  21. Glad to hear it's running proper now. Enjoy your trip when you leave.....soon.
  22. I'm sure you will. You use your bike so the trailer only offers more options and opportunities now. I never would be doing this ride without it.
  23. I want to thank Jack for my best riding day of my life. He kindly offered to ride with me into the mountains while enroute to Vegas. WOW, amazing scenery and the twistes out of this world. For me anyways. It was my first time riding in the mountains and pulling a trailer to boot. No pictures to post as I am on my iPhone while camping next the Colorado river in glenwood canyon. So much beauty. It is breath taking. I got to see Squidleys old bike. Jack is putting lots of miles on it and loving it. Have a great summer everyone. And thank you again Jack for an inredible day and ride.
  24. Congratulations. Looks good and big. You and Rhonda should be happy with it.
  25. Let me start off by saying I'm having a great time. The riding has been spectacular even today when I rode in 3 hours of rain. This being Independance Day long weekend, I have had my challeges getting a camping spot but it always worked out. Night two I was deperite after getting turned away from two camp sites. I saw a farm house that was storing trailers. So I did a door knock and introduced myself and asked if I could camp by the trailers. The man said sure and called his wife who said I could even use his shower outside in his workshop for $15. I thanked them very much and set up camp. I did have to clean the shower as I don't think it had been used in over 5 years. Cob webs and moths all over, but it worked great. So here is my story of my fourth night camping at a KOA in Goodland Kansas. Let me first say that this is a very clean and well kept facility. Well this is earlier then I would like to wake up without an alarm. Real bad storm. A few times I thought the wind was either going to lift the tent off the ground or break it into pieces. I was awake when I heard noises and people at 1am. I didn't know what they where doing. My pee jug was getting full from my second time. I cautiously open the tent a little to dump it out and the ground was covered in water. Only about an inch. The people that I heard where other tenters that got flooded or their tent torn apart. They got in their truck and spinning tires to get out. I laid in bed not able to go back to sleep. The rain was so hard but the tent was doing well. The wind was what concerned me. I was afraid the tent would get damaged and I wouldn't be able to close it. There goes the next 3.5 weeks I was thinking. My mind wasn't stopping should I cut my losses or tuff it out. A lull in the weather happened. *Good time to break camp I thought. Don't be a chicken I thought. So there I laid. The storm picked up again, eaqually as bad. I checked outside by unzipping the door a few inches. Now there was 2 inches of water all over the ground. It kept comming down and blowing so hard that I thought I may damage the tent trying to put it away. At 2:15am I checked outside and there was almost 3 inches of rain water on the ground. That was it, only an inch or two more and my changing area will be under water. I started to pack things up inside the trailer so when there was a lull in the weather I would be ready to spring into action. I made a mental list of what I needed to do outside to close the tent quickly and without damaging it. There I sat bed deflated belongings packed away and waiting. 2:30, the rain slowed right down and wind wasn't so strong and gusty. Like a lion saving their cubs I was out and moving. Lucky I had my boots the trailer skirting was all under water. The gravel road was covered. No hesitation I had to act to get this tent down and closed before another wind gust would come and rip it out of my hand. I kept seeing flash news reports of times past of bad things happening in trailer parks. Everything went smooth. The tent got put away safely. I put the cargo carrier on the picknic table as the water drains thru. What a relief. I may be a chicken and over reacted, but I kept thinking it could get worse and then where would I be. It's only sleep I'm missing out on by packing up. If the weather breaks in the morning I'll set it back up to dry and sleep. If I have to stay another night that's ok too. My tent us not broken. I'm a happy camper. I'll up date you all in the morning. Dave Sent from my iPhone
