  1. When mine seized, I was riding home from up north with a northern channel and as it was getting staticky I tried to change the channel but it wouldn't. I tried turning the radio off, as well as the CB, but neither would shut off. Fortunately my volume control worked, so I could lower the volume of static for the rest of the ride home.
  2. You guy's posting all these problems....... You must have jinxed me..... My bike radio just seized this weekend just as you are talking about. I have to stop reading some of these posts talking about problems, I think my bike is having a sympathetic response and I don't like it. LOL
  3. Thank you Vicki for taking such great pictures of our weekend ride. I guess Lou needs honourable mention for doing such a fine job at keeping the bike to a consistant and stable line to get such clear pictures. Bernie and I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and had a wonderful time meeting all of you. We look forward to another ride together. Dave
  4. Mother, you said it. What a great weekend. The colours, ride and company was superb. Bernie and I had a great time and really enjoyed meeting all of you and seeing some for the second time. Thank you Steve, for all the planning you put into this weekend. It was spectacular. We had a great time and look forward to seeing all of you on another ride. Dave
  5. I bought my new 07 out of the crate for $12,900 at the start of this summer. Remember, if someone else buys the one you are looking at, there may not be another one left. My dealer sold out about 4 weeks after I bought mine. $13,900 is still a very good price. As kitesquid suggested, if he won't come down with the price go for add ons or the very least free oil changes. Best of luck
  6. Less than a week now. We went up north this weekend and lots of trees changing colours. We can't wait for next weekend. If the temps hold out like they have been, it is going to be an awesome ride. See you all on Saturday morning.
  7. I am use to storing my old Virago on its center kick stand, but the Ventures don't have one. Does anyone try to get it raised up or just park it on the cold concrete garage floor?
  8. You got it. You need a 1 inch clamp for the highway pegs. I hope all is well on the Island. We where hoping to drive down for the Thanksgiving Weekend for dinner, then drive back, but we couldn't co-ordinate with the rest of the family to make the commitment.
  9. Yes you are right that is the size of engine guard you will be clamping the highway pegs onto.
  10. It sounds like the majority of you recommend a back rest which I do believe would be the best thing to do. But when I saw the golf rack, I thought how cool is that, I can take my bike golfing instead of the van. More time to ride. I may even get more golf in as an excuse to go for a ride. My camera is not working Maineac so I can't post any pics. It took me forever to figure out how to post my new licence plate photos. I would love to have my plate under my name like yours is.... Not that I want to copy, but after all, our plates are our handles on this site.
  11. As a result of all the great post, I bought a set of the Kuryakyn longhorn highway pegs. They are amazing. Instant and I do mean instant relief from the engine heat. The wind then blows up my legs and I can feel it on my chest. Even my wife can feel the difference as there is more air flow for her as well. Now I have to decide on buying a back rest or trailer hitch next. I saw a golf club rack on one of the recommended sites that I would love to get if I get a hitch.
  12. Beer30, Nice to hear that the State Trooper listened to you and knew your story was truthful and let you off.
  13. I want to share a very close call I had as a reminder of the importance of getting past these transport trucks and not riding beside them. I always lag behind a truck for a bit then gun it to get past them very quickly so as not to be in there blind spot for long. Well, as I was passing this transport I was doing as I always do when a tire blew out from the truck. For what ever reason I had already moved further over to the left then I normally do. The tire literally exploaded forward, sideways and to the rear of the truck. I was fortunate enough to see the debris and swerve back towards the truck to fit inbetween the debris as I acceleated even faster to fit through the open air that I saw. Rubber went infront of my bike and just behind it. I was very lucky that I didn't slow down or I would have been knocked off my bike. I was lucky who knows what is best to do, slow down or speed up, it all depends on the circumstance. In any case I just wanted to air this to remind everyone to pay special attention and get as far away from the trucks when you are passing them. I'm going back on the highway this afternoon and riding to Niagara on the Lake for the night and I have to say I may not be passing too many trucks.
  14. I was all excited for you, as I know how much I love my new bike. Dirty, dirty trick. On the flip side, this new bike can keep you in shape so you will be able to enjoy your real bike longer.
  15. Johanne, your Father must be a terrific man to be graced with such a loving daughter. I will keep him in my prayers for a full recovery,as well as your Mom and yourself with all the emotions and fears which must be so overwhelming. Please take care of yourself and make sure your Mom is as well. With your Dad suffering so much, it is easy not to get the proper food and sleep for yourself as you naturally want to take away some of his suffering, by neglecting your needs. Stay strong for your Dad and Mom. God Bless Dave O'Brien (Dogman)
  16. Hello Onerider. This will be the first ride with the Venture group for my wife and I also, so we look forward to meeting the two of you. Dave and Bernadette
  17. TFD, my wife and I from TPS have just booked our room. The receptionist said there where only a few rooms left. We look forward to meeting everyone Saturday morning and we'll get directions from you later. We are heading up north to our spot in the Kawartha's for the long weekend. Have a great final summer weekend.
  18. Great question trickster. I am also looking for highway pegs, but wanting to add the wind deflectors or vents which also attach to the same enigine guard. A salesmen at a Dealership told me I couldn't have both is that true? Can anyone advise?
  19. I have received tentative accommodations for the 3 nights, so I plan on attending. I am going to register tonight.
  20. http://s512.photobucket.com/albums/t327/Dogman_ca/ I tried to post the pictures directly on here, but havn't had any luck so hopefully this will work. I also tried to use a thumbnail like many of you have with your sign in handle, but havn't figured that out either.
  21. Hello Servicedog. I was curious with your handle. I also work with dogs and wanted to see if we where in the same line of work. I read you are in Guide dogs of America. You must make a lot of people happy with the new found mobility with a dog as a guide. A belated Happy Birthday

  22. I switch mine to reserve when I start to run out. I have an 07 and read that someone on this site goes about another 40miles before filling up. I thought I would test mine as the odometer counts up. I only went 28 miles before I chickened out and gased up. I then fliped the switch back to the on. I like the added safety, just in case the fuel light doesn't come on, or the millage doesn't change to count up. Lots of safety's, but I like it that way. I have never run out of gas in 25years and I never want to.
  23. I have sent off an email request for shared accomodations as my wife can not get the time off work. If that comes thru then I will register immediately and happily join you guys on the ride down. I am half expecting to hear back that they will not check for shared accomodations until I register. If that is the case, then I guess I will have to bite the bullet and register and hope I can get accomodations this late in the game. Will you be joining up with the Buffalo people on the 14th in the am?
  24. Blueslover, This sounds like it would be a great trip. I'm not on holidays until the week of Aug. 18th, but I can see if I can take the 14th, and 15th off. Do you have any info on hotel costs and how we go about booking if I can make it. Also how does one register for the ride. We got some info for a Canadian ride 911 ride at work, but when I inquired, they where already booked up. Thanks
  25. Sorry to hear about all your problems with the bike. I also have an 07 and just lost my passenger talk button. I can't say enough about the ride though, I love it and so does the wife. I also feel fortunate to have found this web site. Not only great information, but I was able to make it to the Kitchener Rally for opening day and the final dinner. I met some great people, who really made me feel welcome and many have given me tips already as to how to fix my missing passenger talk button if Yamaha will not replace it under warranty. My warranty is only valid in the States as I went across to buy it as it was so much cheaper. I hope when you get everything tightened up and working well, that you will enjoy the bike and time that you are on it.
