  1. My first Maintenance Day as well. Incredible sight to see, and awesome to experience all the bikes, commoradere and wealth of knowledge from everyone. Don, thank you and your wife for a wonderful day. The food was spectacular, along with everything else. I didn't get to personally say good bye to you as you where so busy with many others wanting your time, so I thought the best thing I could do was to just leave so you may soon get some time on your own. Thank you again Dave (Dogman)
  2. Wayne, could you give us your address here, just to make sure we enter it right in our GPS's Thanks See you tomorrow Dave
  3. Evan, Greener and myself where planning on meeting at Carl's house.
  4. I would love to go, but that week is my works 20th Anniversary and we are having an open house that is requiring everyone to work that week with no time off allowed.
  5. This Maintenance Day will be my first as well as my first anniversary of being a member of this awesome Venturerider.org site. I would feel priviledged in having the opportunity to try a slice of what every you are making. I like everything except for beats, so I think I'll be in luck. Thank you very much Lonna and Brad.
  6. Hello all, Is any one able to give me a quick fix or tell what button I have pushed to have lost the New Posts link button on the tool bar for this site. When I log in now as of about 5 days ago, I lost the New Posts link button and the forum of active threads just appears when logging in, instead. Thanks for any help
  7. I have recently bought a hitch from Venturdad as well and had it shipped to Don's where I will be putting in on at Maintenace Day. He was a real pleasure to deal with. I also highly recommend him.
  8. Congratulations, as others said, it will be an easy transition over to the GW. Your first gen and the GW look so much alike. Enjoy your first ride and of course the ride down to maintenance day so we can all see it.
  9. This was my first meet and eat and I really enjoyed it. Like Spankym said I met some new friends and look forward to riding with them in the future. I rode back with Swifty, Greener and Evan. Luckily at the Boarder, I didn't get stopped. Swifty was the unlucky one that got flaged over.
  10. I'll be riding down from Toronto. I'm not sure what time I will be leaving yet. I may want to shop while I am there.
  11. For the price. Take a quick look at your local Yamaha Dealer or Ebay and see if there are any new 08's left and what they are going for. That should help make up your mind. Good luck. I just bought a new 07 Midnight last summer and love it. The site is equally as good as riding, so enjoy.
  12. Monty, I'm glad your son didn't get hurt by the piece that hit him.
  13. I have to admit about 25 years ago on my 920 Virago while riding straight thru from Toronto to PEI I fell asleep and was awaken as my full face helmet came crashing down on my gas tank. Luckily I kept the bike up and no other cars where affected by my riding. After that I pull over when I get strong tired feeling rather than fighting it. Walk around and if I feel better get back on the bike and keep on going.
  14. This will be my first MD and I am looking to buy a trailer hitch and hoping to get help/guidance to install it.
  15. Gary, I'm glad the two of you where able to get away together. I hope that warmth you got is enough to carry you through til your next trip. Life is primarily for Living, Laughing and Loving so keep it up.
  16. Brad, you are a wise man planning for the future. You are right about riding, it doesn't matter if it is a new bike, the feeling is the same when you are on it. I do agree with the other threads that we should set up a donation account. If not specifically for you then money will be accumulated for another time or person that Don and yourselves (Moderators) agree could use the help. Dave
  17. Welcome to the Venture site. You sound like a serious rider, and we hope to see you on the road, or as others have mentioned at Don's Maintenance Day. It is a long time away, June 6th, so you have time to get to know us first.
  18. Lou, thank you for sharing. That was really enjoyable to watch and listen too. The American 911 ride photo's looked good. Your daughter can take almost as good a photo as Vicki. Thank you for the tribute to Stephen. The pictures show that you are leading as blessed a life as he did. Have a great winter. Dave
  19. I'm another CV from the big smoke in Toronto and looking forward to heading down to the MD.
  20. I just got home from New York late last night and had a phone message from the Oberlin Hotel saying they had changed my hotel check in date to June 6th with a new confimation number. Right away I figured the date must have changed and I thought how amazing it was that I didn't have to call to confirm if I was in agreement with the new date. I didn't panic, when I woke up this morning I was able to get on the Venture site, (which by the way I was really missing since last Saturday) and go through all the messages and here is the update confirming the information that the hotel had left on my answering machine. I look forward to attending my first Maintenace Day. And even better I got a great message and invite from Mother to join him and others riding down to Oberlin.
  21. I'm off to New York city first thing in the morning and don't know if I will be able to access our Venture site until next weekend. Everyone have a great weekend and week.
  22. Squidley, the Venturedad looks good, I have looked at it, but wanted to make sure I would be able to get it installed, as well as to see if I could avoid shipping it up to Canada with duty and all. I do believe I read a previous thread that someone was looking at the Venturedad to purchase a golf rack carrier to add onto it. That is what I want to add onto the hitch is a golf rack carrier, with the hope to buying a trailer, but at present, my wife is not keen to the idea of a trailer.
  23. I just booked a room for May 30th. The reservation lady advised me that there are 4 rooms left. I will be comming from Toronto Canada and hope a Saturday arrival will be Ok. I'm hoping to have purchased a hitch by then. Is that something that I'll be able to get some help to install. I'm not very good at figuring mechanical things out myself, but once I have seen it done, I'm then good to do it myself and help others. As a new member I look forward to meeting a lot of new people.
  24. For a non computer guy I was very apprehensive to post when joining this site. I first replied with caution to one of the threads and was met with great welcoming, which of course gave me more courage to reply to another. Then that frightful day came when I wanted to post. I too could not figure out how to post (remember I'm not a computer guy.... I'm a dog-guy) Fortunately I met Don himself at the Kitchner rally and he patienty talked me through the process without making me feel stupid. This site truely attracts the good motorcycle people. For those that like to read the posts, keep reading and enjoy them, but if you ever want to add your two cents or tell us of a great ride you just had or close call while riding, please start a new thread and watch the group respond.
  25. Gary, my wife, Bernie and I where pleased that we where able to ride with you a few weekends back enjoying the fall colours. We are both happy and proud of the strength you have shown to your son's and all of us through your struggles with your own injuries and with the loss of your wife. We know it must not have been easy, and only wish you a happy present and brighter future with fond memories of your past. David
