  1. Hi folks! I recently (one year ago) added driving lamps to my 85 VR and I have had issues with the driving lamps taking alot of power to run. So much in fact, that when I'm running at approx 3500 - 4000 rpm the charging system can hold it fine but if I drop into city driving speeds, the draw becomes troublesome. After some city driving with the lamps on, my radio will drop in volume in relation to my turn signal. Blink on, lower volume, blink off, higher volume. (kind of funny now that I'm typing this). I have the positive running direct to the battery and my question is "Is there a better way to do this so the draw isn't quite so high?" The lamps 2 x 35w halogen. Stator is new in 2006. Any suggestions will be happily considered. Thomas
  2. Ok, it's tomorrow now. We need to see the new addition. Pics plz.
  3. I'll be out for a couple hour ride today. Maybe I'll swing by Grass Ave. and supervise. What's the house number?
  4. I love that idea Michael! I'm gonna start that. Let's see how much the "junk mailers" enjoy receiving junk mail. LOL So much stuff I wish I had the time to come up with.
  5. Hey everybody. Go here...http://www.milesgallon.com/. This is a great place for mileage calculation. I use it all the time for my Honda. (Civic, that is.) It's good for north or south of the 49th. (metric or U.S.) Thomas
  6. If you're putting this in your 1st gen then I definitely want to see pics of the finished product. I don't drive at night alot but when I do, I'm always thinking that I'm overdriving the headlights. Thomas
  7. I don't know about instructions for how to remove each panel, but if you were more specific regarding which panel you're struggling with, we could definitely guide you thru it. False gas tank has a screw next to filler cap. Remove that and lift that end. Midicat
  8. So, it's come to this. I can't believe what I'm reading. My kids think I'm ok/cool. Not the coolest but an ok guy. (I am their father so really, how cool am I allowed to be by their standards) I kid around with them by saying I am part of a motorcycle gang....The VentureRiders! Oh yeah! We're tough! We're bad dudes (and dudettes) who ride into town, take over the buffet table and leave with plenty of noise! That's the life of a VentureRider biker. If they knew that we were talking about "the best way to hang toilet paper", I'd be laughed out of 5th grade! C'mon, Freebird, can't we hide this topic? I have but a shred of credibility as a motorcycle rider. Please don't let me go down like this. Midicat
  9. I have noticed this bike in the driveway and thought I should stop in and introduce myself and Ventureriders but it would appear I am too late. It's a clean looking bike and I'm thinking it's a good deal. It looks like he's missing the trunk. For what it's worth... http://stcatharines.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-Still-available-as-of-Sept-19-1984-Yamaha-Venture-XVZ-12000-W0QQAdIdZ150331358
  10. Reiny is great that way. Marcarl on the other hand, well let's just say that a couple of Tylenol and a shot of Jack makes it easier the first time you meet him. Then, after a while, all you need is the Jack.
  11. Thom, I'd be really interested in seeing close-up images of where it crosses under the scoot.
  12. SilvrT, I just wouldn't be riding a scoot if I had to pay that plus car, plus house, plus life, plus, plus, plus. :crying:
  13. Hey Bob, If your comin' across Fort Erie, tell me what time and I'll meet ya. We can ride the shores of Lake Erie for a couple of hours before you head over to Wayne's.
  14. That was soooooo funny Margaret!!! You're right tho! My eyes popped out when I saw her frame and all, right there up in my face. Sheesh!
  15. Take some pepperettes to pass out. That'll get 'em on your side. Drive carefully. There's more nuts on the roads the closer you get to this country's capital.
  16. Victoria Stafford, better known as Tori, was last seen leaving Oliver Stephens School on Wednesday April, 08, where she is a Grade 3 student. Her parents reported her missing at around 6 p.m. that night. The family of missing eight year old Tori Stafford are planning a charity motorcycle ride to raise funds for psychiatrists and psychologists. 'Tori's Ride Home' is planned for May 2 leaving the Zellers parking lot in Woodstock and ending at Southend Appliances with registration starting at 11:30. I believe that if you're not heading to Bob's M&E and are close enough to participate and show your support, you should. This family has been severely traumatized by the abduction of their girl.
  17. GeorgeS is right. The header pipe is a couple of bolts. The pain in the a$$ part is loosening of the thermostat housing to get that extra wiggle room so the starter will drop out. You may want to order a gasket for that in case it won't move and you have to scrape it off.
  18. I'm not experienced in this kind of stuff but if you have their home number wouldn't it make sense to notify your insurance broker regarding the incident and be sure to quote the police report number.
  19. My '85 Royale.
  20. Christo, If getting there is half the trip then you may have a nice ride by staying on Canada side and doing Hiway #3 just outside of Windsor, ON. You can follow that all the way into Fort Erie and then take the Niagara Parkway from Fort Erie up to Niagara Falls and the edge of the Horseshoe Falls. Highway #3 has you traveling through some small towns like Delhi (the heart of tobacco country), St. Thomas, home of Canada's first woman's college. Built to teach women how to be ladies (designated heritage site and slated to be converted into condos before it burned down 1 month ago), Cayuga, home of Toronto Motorsports Park and the Cayuga Motor Speedway. Port Colborne, the town located at the Lake Erie opening of the famous Welland Canal. And of course, so much more. It would be approx. 5-6 hrs from Windsor to Fort Erie, depending on stops. Just a thought since I know when I ride, If I have the time I prefer to stay OFF the expressways. Call me when you get here, and I'll take you for a spin around wine country. I live in St. Catharines and I would be happy to show you some nice rides. Midicat
  21. I just got back from Carquest where I purchased Seafoam for $9.35/can. They've got me by the short and curlys. You wanna play, you gotta pay.
  22. "EVERYONE ASKS WHERE DID YOU GET THAT CAR?!!! KIDS & ADULTS GO WILD. THE MOST UNIQUE DODGE INTREPID ON THE ROAD!!!" LOLOLOLOLOL it's a Dodge Intrepid! LOLOLOLOLOL Wait! Wait! I've got a Chevy Vega! Maybe I should post it. I know my daughter has painted flames on the side of it. LOLOL Maybe I can get "big money" for it.
  23. Or, you could keep an eye on these. http://cgi.ebay.ca/1986-1991-YAMAHA-VENTURE-EXHAUST-H-PIPE-COLLECTOR-NICE_W0QQitemZ260264584819QQihZ016QQcategoryZ34284QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. Here are the shots you need. I remember thinking like you, that I wish someone would take a photo for me. So, I'm paying it forward.
  25. I'm with Jevco through Dalton Timmis in Burlington. I pay $700/year on a '85 VR to have one million liability and no collision. If I brake it, I still own the pieces. I can't speak for anyone else here about income, but on a personal note, I make ALOT of money delivering newspapers. I do better after collection day.
