  1. Oh, you guys are talkin' about S.N.O.W. That's the four lettered word you mean. I was wondering because my W.I.F.E. is always in my forecast for the week but that doesn't make me want to put away the bike.
  2. We haven't seen any snow in Niagara but I have packed my baby away for the season. It was a sad day today. I should move to the southern states. Thomas
  3. After visiting the doctor and taking multiple tests, a man was told his short term memory loss was not a physical problem. One night he and his wife are sitting together watching tv. The man says "I'm going to the kitchen, would you like anything?" The wife replies "yes, I'd like a cup of coffee." "ok" says the husband "Are you going to be able to remember that?" says the wife. "Yes, it's fine." replied the husband. "With cream" adds the wife. "Fine" says the husband. "And sugar." says the wife. "Ok, got it" replies the husband. "Shouldn't you right that down? You know the doctor said you should write things down to help you remember." asks the wife. Irritated, the husband replies "No, I don't need to write that down. I've got it. Coffee with cream and sugar." The husband leaves and returns 25 minutes later carrying a plate of bacon and eggs and hands it to the wife. The wife looks down at the plate and asks "where's my toast?"
  4. That's right Steve. It's also my understanding that another example is digital photography. Digital cameras need to be at 128 MP in order to reach the quality of film. Just another example that newest is always best. Thomas
  5. Now that I've seen some of those mugs up here, I'm not too shy to post my own. After all, how bad could I be in comparison. First my face... Next my scoot. That's my 1985 Royale in front of Marcarl's 1985 Royale.
  6. You might want to consider this... http://cgi.ebay.com/Garmin-GPS-V-5-/170550693930?pt=GPS_Devices&hash=item27b59d102a it looks reasonable. Thomas
  7. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of "re-seating" the radio. After a couple of attempts, all is well. Thomas
  8. This is driving me nuts! I went out for a short spin today and all was good. The radio was loud the sun was shinning and the traffic was light. Then it happened. I hit a small bump in the road (cuz they aren't as smooth as glass in Niagara), and my radio went into seek mode. It flipped to a new station and then moved onto the next station. It did this for quite a while. Obvious to me I have a short somewhere but I'm not sure where to start. I was thinking about opening up the left handle bar control to clean it. Any thoughts on this? Anyone? Thomas
  9. Hey Bob, My better half tells me I MUST attend the wedding of a niece that day. It figures. It better not be a beautiful day or I'm going to be pretty pissed. (sorry, I really do hope you have nice weather, but if you had a nice day with rain starting just as I would have been heading home, then I would be ok with it. I hate the rain.) Thomas
  10. Hi Mike, I don't know about 2 & 3 but for #1 you would go to Buckeye Performance. follow this link http://www.buckeyeperformance.com/p02.htm for a look at the Rivco spin-on filter adapter for 1st gens. Thomas
  11. Don't worry too much about the compressor. Unless of course, you were counting on having one. They do come up on Ebay from time to time so they are available. I bougth my 85 VR without a compressor and it sure hasn't stopped me from enjoying every mile I ride. Thomas
  12. Anything you do to make yourself more noticeable is a GOOD THING!
  13. Scotty, You should go. Plan a nice leisurely ride out that way and check it out. I'm sure we're all wanting to know if this is a fake for sure. If not, I'll fly out there and ride it home. Thomas
  14. Joe, Nice looking scoot. I see what you mean about the missing tank badge. Ya know...if you wanted to really raise the bar of quality, I found a badge that will really impress other riders on the road. http://cgi.ebay.ca/YAMAHA-VENTURE-ROYALE-XVZ-12-13-BADGE-PACKAGE-/270629099474?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f02c057d2 Thomas
  15. that works, Thanks Don
  16. Does anyone have a link to a free VIN search site? I had one but I deleted the url and I don't remember the name of it. It's an age thing...what was I sayin'?
  17. First Gens are here to remind bystanders how beautiful the model once was. Just sayin'....
  18. To those of you who ride the more beautiful and nimble of the Venture lineup, I ask this question. The manual states that lone rider rear shock pressure should be 14 psi. Add a passenger or cargo (not both) then the psi jumps to 42 for the rear. My dilemma is that I don't have a compressor on board (removed before I bought the bike and never replaced) so I have the rear shock psi set to 30. I also have damper set to 2. I do this in case I pick up a passenger unexpectedly. I am interested in your thoughts on this and if you think there may be a better way to do this. Thanks in advance, Thomas
  19. Is that 250 Lake Street?
  20. I looked up Alexandria Bay and I see you will be NE of I-81. See Google Maps http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=&q=Alexandria+bay&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enCA383CA383&ie=UTF-8 Take the I-81 North into Canada and jump onto 1000 Islands Parkway. Go East and go slowly so you can enjoy the fresh air and refreshing views. Once you go as far as you can on the Parkway, (Butternut Bay) you need to jump onto the 401 for a small piece before you can hook-up with Hwy #2. This highway is a Canadian original "Ontario King's Highway" the main thoroughfare before the 401. This is great country and once you start to hit towns along the way you won't help but start to have the kind of time that fond memories are made of. Enjoy your visit. I wish I could join you. Thomas
  21. Yeah. What he said! Absolutely! Thomas
  22. Snaggletooth, I've always thought this would be a far more interesting way to travel. http://spyder.brp.com/en-CA/ Thomas
  23. I won't be joining you since I'll be in Amherstburg, ON with the family raising money for Autism Ontario at the Ice Cream Festival! I think maybe your route is going in the wrong direction. LOL
  24. Would that be exit 48A off the thruway eastbound? Cuz, ya never know. I might actually come out for the ride. Vroom Vroom Thomas
  25. That's what I was just now, starting to wonder. I have no relay. Didn't come with one. I have in-line fuse and red power line direct to 2yr old sealed battery post. I don't know how to wire a relay. What should I buy and how should it be done? Thomas
