  2. If you do decide to buy the bike I have the front fairing, same color, for my '86. Definatly need to check or replace the fairing stays. If you are interested pm me and I will send pics of what I have. Chuckles
  3. I live in southern Indiana and ride when I get the chance. Depends on the snow and ice conditions. I have been asked when I winterize I bike and put it up. Never do. Chuckles:rudolf:
  4. To make the MKII trunk fit the MkI you must have the complete sub-frame off of a MKII. This also includes the rear bags. Don't know of any way other than that. Dano bought the rear sub-frame from my '86 to do this mod to his '83. He wanted larger trunk and bags. Chuckles
  5. Great post. Hope they work alright. Thinking about doing something like that on my '89
  6. U.S. Army '69-'71. Vietnam '70-'71. Still Have mine from basic training. Ate LRRPs , most of the time but did eat a few C-Rats. Ham and M-Fs wasn't too bad if you had enough Tobasco sauce and seasonings. Still use it occasionally.
  7. Keep the pics coming. Have to see it finished.
  8. Short-Haul, I hate 'glass work also. What you have done looks real good. Hope to see it finished.
  9. I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I can't find it. Is it possible to dis-connect the cassette player from an '89 VR and still have the radio work? I sure would like to get rid of the cassette player as it doesn't work and don't want to fix it. Would love to add an MP3 player in its place. Any comments or suggestions?
  10. I have also been using the Echo QR on my helmets. Never had a problem with them. Does take a little bit to get used to the way they work.
  11. That's what I love about this site. One person asks a question and the next thing you know he has an answer, a place to work on the bike and four or five people to help do the work. Don should really be happy for what this site has turned into. Chuckles
  12. Dano, have those if you need them also. Chuckles
  13. Master Guns - I have 3 class systems, none work all showing the E-4 error. I am in the process of repairing them. If I get one to work I will let you know. hlange - The LED display in the dash works except for the clock. I can't set the time on the clock. mraf - the left fairing is spoken for. It has had a broken corner that has been repaired at some time in the past. Chuckles
  14. I thought I would post it here first. Parting out an '86 VR 1300. I have almost all the plastic. Some needs to be repaired. Have everything for a complete rebuild. Black and gold. Both saddle bags, bottoms and lids, trunk, purple color from '89 VR. All front fairing parts plus vents. Windshield stock height and in good condition. All braces for fairing. Let me know by PM and I will answer all with what I have. Chuckles
  15. Loved it, but it is so true. We have let others decide what we have to learn in school and what languages we speak. If you live here speak English....
  16. Just checked out this page. Different from what it sounds like. Drivers need to have training on how to see and recognize motorcycles.
  17. At any rate, he was doing what he wanted to do, and that is ride. He may have been in the wrong or he may have been in the right. The main thing is another motorcyclist has lost his life. His family will never be the same. I have been to Destination Daytona during BikeWeek and was welcomed as if I was a regular customer. Rest In Peace Bruce and hope his family can get over this sometime.
  18. Excellent job by your mechanic. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come. Chuckles
  19. I'm also in the southern part of the State. Troy, right on the Ohio river. Beautiful rides that time of year from Corydon to Tell City. then up 37 North to French Lick and West Baden. Leaves should be changing about that time and fall is a wonderful time in this area. Keep us posted. Chuckles:thumbsup:
  20. Brian, try cleaning out the starter switch with electrical contact cleaner. It may be that it is a bad ground and when you hit the horn button it makes a contact to ground and lets the starter switch make contact. spray the cleaner directly into the switch and with the bike off work the switch on and off many times:pushups:. Had a problem with my switch, would stick just enough that my headlight would not come on. Cleaned it out and no problems. Chuckles
  21. Cindy, awesome job on the statement. direct and to the point. I'm glad the judge heard and understood what you were saying. Wish he would have given him more time. He had the power to do that even though there was a plea agreement. Hopefully this sleeze bag will be in prison with a whole lot of BUBBA'S.
  22. just keep spraying and pushing on the button. It will eventually free up and start working the way it is supposed to. contact cleaner does wonders Chuckles
  23. Congrats. Great looking bike and glad you decided to showcase something that is so heroic and brave as the fire fighters. Chuckles
  24. I have been working on getting my '89 rebuilt and on the hiway. The problem I have is the tach and lights on the dash have quit working. Could it be one of the relays under the dash or do I have a bigger problem? Engine seems to run fine but the tach, volt meter and lights. Any help would be appreciated. Chuckles
  25. I thought profiling was illegal.
