Some days its just like that. If you ain't droppin the hardware your misconfiguring the software and shuttin down the whole building. Other days you look like a genius and your still stand there wondering what you did right. Just remember its all based on Electronic THEORY.

I paid 15.99 for mine 4 years ago and had it posted on this site before the crash. If you check around you can find them a lot cheaper.

You know some of them trees in KY get pretty tall. Must be for gettin the cat down...

San Antonio in mid July... If we do it at night we'll be alright....

I don't know if the 83's have it but Steved's 91 has a deflector that goes over the valve cover. He removed it and found his legs getting cooked.

Engine cutting out
BuddyRich replied to screamstone's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Down is normal and up is reserve. I always think of it as "goin down the road is normal" and "bring up the reserves" . If exercising the petcock solves the problem and you were in reserve already I would pull the petcock and check it for crud. Check the inside of the tank for some foreign object also. -
:doh::doh: That was bad.......

Yep, your init knee deep now. There's more than one loose nut between the seat and the handlebars here.

They are great bikes. Of course you knew you would hear that. They are fast. An HD may get you off the line but all I can say is hold on when you get to third. They are V4's so smooth goes without saying. But you'll need to rethink you riding habits. The bike needs to be wound out to be in its power band. Cruising at 65 in third is smooth. The rear shock tends to go bad and they are 500 a pop. But your covered for 5 years so that's not a problem for a while. They are big bikes. Longer than the ultra and a little heavier. But overall a good bike. Test ride before you buy. And see if you can put a couple of hundred on it too.

"Cody's just around the corner ." Ha, It more like 1420 miles...Around the corner, Whatcha ya been Drinkin Jack ? Have fun guys...

When you test ride it remember its not a twin. Its a V4 and wants to be wound out. Take 2nd to 45 and take 3rd to 85 and you'll get a feeling for what the bike can do. They are fast.

I think Don may have guessed what was going on. He noticed that the CA model Venture would not be out till Feb 2010. That may be when they roll out the new Venture with an RSTD to follow shortly I would say.

If you get a Chance go to Death Valley. Its great. Just past Pahrump NV a few miles. Go up to Dantes Peak.

Neither one of you is gettin any younger. And the older we get the more it cost (they think we have lots of money stashed somewhere). I would probably get it.

Weird turn signal issues

Yep, You have a bad ground somewhere. Easy to check. Just ground a long wire and hold it to the outside of the bulb sockets one at a time. When you find the bad one you'll know it. Check your brake/taillight socket also. -

BuddyRich replied to Sheradan's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Every rear end I have ever lubricated I always fill it till it starts to run out. Then put the plug it. Never used a dipstick- 10 replies

Use your Zumo in the car mount. Its hands free. There's also an external mic available from Garmin to place it a little closer to you if you want.

I would bet the new V-max engine will be in a redesigned Venture in 2011. Like you I don't think they spent all that money on developing a new engine for just one model. The new Deluxe StratoLiner will be the bagger and the Venture a full touring bike.

Well, They added flames this year http://www.starmotorcycles.com/assets/content/images/600/10ST_RSVenS_blk_S1_6d3a2217.jpg

You can push them back. I saw somewhere where theywere reinforcing them on the bottom. The "crash bars" were never designed for a moving crash. They are only there to keep the bike somewhat upright should you drop it while standing still.

I only get about 8k out of a set of rear pads. Don't know why the inside wears first. Maybe its closest to the inlet of the pressure line

Does anyone else have these problems?
BuddyRich replied to SpaceMan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Mines the same way. A quik click doesn't work. Has to be for more than 1/2 a second.
