  1. As some of you may know, I retired from my job this past May. I have been busy doing a lot of things that I never seemed to get around to doing when I was working full time. So like men, women have projects too, and here are some photos of the ones I just completed. Now I need to find something else to do. Yama Mama
  2. While we were laying in bed in the dark this morning, it was that moment of silence before the busy week begins. My lovely wife rolled over and cuddled up to me and said, why don't we both call in and clear our schedules and ride the bike north through the Ozarks and grab a bite at Lamberts Cafe? I thought about her seductive offer and.....turned it down due to a couple of client projects I had scheduled at work. AM I ON THE EDGE OF CRAZY????? After 30 years of marriage I'm turning down riding the bike???? Is this a sign of things to come with old age? Am I gonna start turning down other key things she offers??? I'm worried about myself.
  3. So now that winter is almost here, and the riding season has or nearly has ended for most of us, what projects do you have planned for the winter? My projects for this winter in no particular order are; Front progressive springs. Service steering head bearings. New tires. Convert driving lights to HID. Lots more lights. Upgrade stator and RR for more power for all of the lights. Replace or add to the two Bad Boys horns with an even louder horn. Build receiver flag mount. Build receiver cooler rack. Clean up some wiring that was done in a hurry last summer. Finish making my version of the valve shim tool. Check my valve clearances. New spark plugs and wires. Carb diaphragms. Center brake light for the trailer. Cooler rack for the trailer. Some of these are not needed right away so will get done on a cash available basis. Dang that is a lot of work. I better get started soon.
  4. Since today is Nurse's Day, I thought I would say thanks to all the Nurses in our group. Also, after being a nurse in a school district for 21 years and a RN for much longer than that, I have decided to retire. I am very excited about it. I hope to get to take a lot of motorcycle trips and spend much more time doing those projects at home that never seemed to get done. And possibly not get so stressed over unimportant things in life. Ah it will be so nice. Yama Mama:223:
  5. It'll take more than a winter to work on one of these... http://www.auctionsamerica.com/events/all-lots.cfm?SaleCode=LH11&Category=Motorcycles
  6. I'm continually amazed at how talented my kids are. Probably it's because I don't have these talents. My two girls each have blogs about the crafts, knitting and sewing projects they do. One does photography. My older son is at Weber State in the manufacturing engineering program. I think he likes it so much because he not only is learning the technical side, math etc, but because he gets to play with the machines. One of his projects this semester was to make a receiver cover.... this is what he designed and produced: http://i470.photobucket.com/albums/rr70/utadventure/IMG_1125.jpg After some final smoothing of the tool marks and some paint, it will be complete. I'm glad he doesn't have a truck....that way I get it for mine. Dave
  7. Anyone got any ideas on this 17MM tool for fork cap removal on the 1st gens? http://www.restockit.com/sunex-1-2-drive-hex-impact-socket-17mm-(sun26499).html?source=CJproduct Price seems reasonable, and I wouldn't have to create a frankenstein tool outa parts. I am a mechanical guy who would use thing quite often for other projects too, so it wouldn't be job specific to my 1st gen. Looks worth the purchase to me, unless you guys have other suggestions. Thanks. Rusty
  8. I am racking my small brain , I know that there are set ups that when you have a switch activated the light will go out. This is possible isn't it? What I am trying to do is that I have BOTH my Headlight and Running lights on relays and switched power,. what I want it to put a small light pod for at least the headlight that when the headlight is OFF that the small led light is ON.. make since? they way when I forget the little light will show me to turn on your headlight dummy! I am so far liking the way I have my set-up now as I am doing so many projects that I need to keep my key on with-out the main light draining my battery . maybe I would come off the relay somehow to make this happen? Thanks for any info. Jeff
  9. First off , I owe a few people here on the forum a Huge Apology . I had told them that I could do some projects for them , but I have let them down . I did not forget to do them , I just ran out of time to do them . I have started on them , but have not completed them . Some of you know , my job is making Nylon Military Gear , supplying the global market to the US , Canada , and all allied forces . Along with Mil , also serving the LEO and Home Land Defense . This has consumed a lot of time for the wife and I . As many businesses have slowed down or gone out of business , on the contrary we have not . In fact , we have only been busier . This also explains my absence here on the forum as well . As we have been getting busier , we are also short handed with employees . We have adds running in the paper, temp services on call , but it looks like no one wants to work . Not getting into a political topic , but they rather sit at home eating Cheeto's on the couch and taking advantage of extended unemployment bennys . This has placed a burden on those whom work at our shop and other shops like ourselves . What hurts the worse , it cuts into my riding time . I have rode less this year than any other year now . For a scoot that is 3 1/2 years old that now only has 57K on it . It should have more . A boat that has only been out 2 times last year and only once so far this year . So saying again that I Apologize for those whom I have said that I would make things for them and have not delivered yet and also not being on the board as much either . I will still try to continue to complete the projects and get them out as I possibly can . I figured I should at least step up and mention this , as I am getting numerous e-mails asking if I have died yet from many of the members here . I haven't so far . But if this keeps up , I may have to run away and go north to live with Charlie ...........Heaven Forbid ! BEER30
  10. Just found this site and I'm looking forward to diving into the info on here. I just bought an 86 Venture Royale about a month ago and while it is in great shape, I've got some projects for it. I think I'll be able to find some good info. Thanks for letting me in. Mick
  11. HI all, I've seen sporadic talk in different sections about LED mods. And I've seen that there are plenty of different kits out that can be used very well with both our 1st and 2nd Gen machines. I decided to play around with them looking for a more personal touch and I would like to anyone interested to share ideas with. With the exception of a couple of short neon tubes I will be working with adding presolderded single led's. I just this afternoon received a great big box of "oh wow now what's" so I don't have any projects to show yet. If there is any interest I would be happy to post pics of both good and bad ideas as they roll out. As well as the best sources for single ultra bright led's and supplies. I'm also really interested in hearing about any of your projects either finished or just drawingboard.
  12. If I do not play a Mini and trip over anything by this afternoon , I should have another 6 sets of Scooter Hooters completed and ready to ship . For those whom were on the list : Kozman01 Monsta MidnightRider Wizard50US Amnchode Madsash Wuzzfuzz BigShell For those whom I forgot to include or do not know here's the link on details . http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15636&highlight=scooter+hooters My apologies for the delays , but I have so much stuff going on at this time which limits me to how much time I can put to these projects . If I have left you off the list , it is because I forgot all those whom wanted and lost track . If you still wish to get a set , please add your name to this thread and PM me . I do ship to Canada and abroad . The cost for member is as stated in the first thread plus postage . Please note : I will have to order more materials to make more . Cost have gone up since I last bought the raw goods . There might be a slight increase in cost of the raw good since I started this project , but I will not know until I order some more and it should be much more . Another reason I need to know how many still wish to get a set is to determine how much material to order . Normally this comes on 50 yard rolls . Cut goods cost more as they have to get off their lazy butts to cut it , so I prefer to buy the entire roll . But if not needing 50 yards , I will only buy what I need to do the projects . BEER30
  13. Is it me or has this been a slow year for noted winter projects discussions on the forum? Since I ended up doing my winter project last summer of replacing my transmission gearset, other than a planned cleaning and checking the bike out for some loose bolts, I don't seem to have much planned. I may try to get motivated and get my solid motor mounts made and get them replaced. RandyA
