PCW Racing Clutch Spring
BuddyRich replied to tsigwing's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Its been a couple of years but I think that's about right. Don't know about the 2 thin metal disks though. If you followed their instructions then you should be fine. -
Hey, U found the rest of it... Right now I have 2 radiator clamps holding my RK's on. Think I'll just leave it like that.

If you have the Speedohealer installed then you'll get a true 85 with the cruise control . I Don't use the cruise control at that speed though.

That's what I thought and I'm from KY. They is only about 30lbs lighter down here so don't underestimate them. They is corn fed here too. Now the other ones here are the 150 to 250 lb hogs. Them things are everywhere. And while your looking high for the deer eyes in the dark they come running out and you think,oh a raccoon, till you get close enough to lite them up with your headlights then its OH S*^*...

When ever I lock the rear I immediately get off of it and re apply. You let it get too far sideways and let off that locked up rear wheel and you'll get highsided. For emergency stops you should be all over that front brake. that's the one that's gonna make or break your stopping distance. In a curve getting all over that front brake will result in the bike wanting to go straight so you have to steer even harder to stay on you intended path and brake hard at the same time.

Yea, Already thinking of cooler weather. After 45 days of 100+ it would be great to cool off to 94...:rotf:
-
Thanks Bob, glad you liked them. They will make a big difference on your knees when it gets down below 60 also. Yours were the first pair I sent out. I have another 2 pairs on order and will be getting them out in the next few days. Anybody wanting them can paypal me at buddyrich@ebmc.com.I'm pretty confident y'all will really like them come colder weather. I'm also getting some lower wind deflectors ready that are twice as wide as the Yamaha ones. They should help break the wind off your shins a lot more in the closed position. I'll post some pics later.

Last word, final word on Jetting, please
BuddyRich replied to Seaking's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The color of your plugs will tell the tale. I am running RK's drilled all the way out and K&N's. My plugs are showing they are burning normal. I have known 2 people who rejetted their RSV's and both wish they had not cause their mileage dropped to the mid 20's with no powergains. Your breather tubes (channel) are only going to let in a certain amount of air.- 8 replies

If you hold the Audio button does the unit (backlight) go on an off ? Theres a troubleshooting section on 8-53 of the service manual. Do you have the manual ? There's a link somewhere here to get it.
-
Did you check the fuse in the right lower fairing? Its one of the audio fuses.
-
Mine did the same thing. But it always came on. Its the large connector under the fairing with the blue band. Take it apart a couple of times and put some di-electric grease on the male pins. That will probably solve your problem.

2nd Gen Valve Adjustment
BuddyRich replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Doesn't lift the cam. Its got major bolts and bearings holding it down. What the tool does is push the shim bucket (and the valve) down giving you clearance to remove the shim. There really isn't any groove. What the drawing is showing isn't a groove but the space between the 2 shim buckets -
Muffler Ends For RSV
BuddyRich replied to Aussie Annie's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Looks like with your setup there your gonna need some HD mufflers with turn down tips. Even if you put the RSTD ends on it won't change the direction of exhaust flow. Something like the cobras on this HD. http://www.online-motorcycle-parts.com/images/HAREX-DRESSERCOBTDSLIP.jpg- 7 replies

I'll have to check Larry, to see what's in there after last weekend. I'll let you and Tom know a couple of weeks ahead so we can plan this. -
Are Bill and Ted moving too ?
-
YEP, backwards. Should be on the left as you sit on the bike. You can just unscrew them form the base and switch them.

2nd Gen Valve Adjustment
BuddyRich replied to V7Goose's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Squeeze, Did you try going in from the other direction. I used the same tool on both first and second gens with no problem. Changing the direction you go in from and the position of the lobe can make a big difference on getting or not getting the shim outta the bucket
