  1. I realize that I'm a little hard of hearing, but I've never heard any whine coming from this bike. The only noise that I hear that is different for me, is a clicking noise from the engine which reminds me of tappets clicking on my old Chevrolet, years ago. And I don't have loud pipes either. Must be the lucky one!
  2. I hadn't posted my age before, but I'm also 77. Nice to see all you "KIDS" riding Ventures! You know, being old is only a date 10 years ahead of the current day's date. Just keep that attitude and enjoy life - it only passes once! Plus you'll never get "old!"
  3. Hey, I used to spend a lot of time in Atlanta in the '50's. I was in the Air Force, stationed at Dobbins AFB in Marrietta,GA. I've always wondered if it was still there? Dated lots of girls in that area too! Good old days! Good Memories!
  4. Hey, I wish it were mine! Pretty proud of it, huh? A real crowd stopper for sure! Questiion - are the wheels the stock item or are they the "chrome wheel upgrade?"
  5. Sounds about right! But I suspended a length of conduit from the I-beam in the garage, above the bike, and wired each of these components with #12 THHN insulated wires, dangling from this conduit, and they held everything in place. Still wasn't perfect, but didn't have to disconnect anything. Just glad that you sucessfully got it accomplished and I'm sure you'll appreciate the lowered position - I know I sure do. Ride Safely!
  6. Sent pay by PayPal today for a black one. Good Idea! Thanks!

    Head wraps

    Put me down for one!
  8. We have a motorhome and spend the winters in the Mission Texas area. The weather is very nice and warm, but windy. Summers would be too hot!
  9. Here's one for you about car prices that really surprised me! I was in the Air Force stationed in Georgia and had this 1946 Mercury Sportsman wood sided Convertible. The dew at night was always very heavy. The wood kept rotting away and I kept it looking nice by filling in the spots with plastic wood. At a recent auction in California for pre and post war Ford and Mercury wood bodied station wagons, the top seller of the night was this convertible, like mine, which sold for $368,500.00.
  10. We were young when we built our home in this neighborhood and about everyone had young kids, including us. It was not unusual to have over a hundred trick or treaters. Then, for a while a few years back the crowd started to grow smaller and then in the last few years they're coming back again. We had 45 kids come around last night. Some parents had small ones in strollers, so within a few years those small ones will be walking and with their friends and it won't be long before the hundred count will happen again. The old folks are either moving out or dying off and younger families are moving in. And it was b beautiful night! I hope you all had a Happy Halloween!
  11. I originally had the same problem with my RSV, since my inseam is only 29 inches. I lowered the front end by one inch, with instructions from this forum, and now it's perfect to stand flat footed. But, I have to admit that I also wear cowboy boots with the slanted high heal, and after having rubber heal pads and rubber half soles added.
  12. Can you raise your bike, using the carbon one adapter and if so does it balance OK?
  13. Buying a Motorhome is one of the better decisions that we've ever made. Like they say, there are many different brands, models, and equipment to choose from. The trend now is going to shorter units because of the fuel mileage, but it depends upon how you plan to use it. Short ones are OK if you use them only for week ends or short visits, but if you plan on extended stays at a certain location or travel a lot, the longer units ride better, control easier and provide more room to move around inside. Our unit is 37' long with a Ford gas engine, which has more than enough power unless you spend a lot of time in the mountains, in which case I'd recommend a diecel. We spend the winters in Texas in the Mission, McAllen area and we chose to have a washer dryer set up, which calls for the longer length. A motorhome is definitely a Money Pit, because you will always be adding things so that living away from home can be as enjoyable or more than living at home. There's no comparison of spending the nights in your own bed and surroundings to that of a motel, where who knows what that bed, pillow, carpet and surroundings went through many times. We have a dual section air matress, which is unbelievably comfortable. Plus motels clean up that room , usually within 20 minutes. A 50 Amp service is a Must. So is: awnings on all the windows, a back up camera, 2 air conditioners are much better than 1, and a ladder up the back to get onto the roof. Also plan on the expense of towing equipment to tow a car - you'll need that! I tow a Honda CRV, a fine car, light weight and can be towed with the automatic transmissiion, with no problem (some cars can't). So, I say, make a choice and just go for it! You'll feel like the "King of the Road" wheeling the unit down the road, believe me. Good Luck to you! Nemo.
  14. Sorry about that! Informal definition: Fashionably - elegant - smart - stylish - fine - excellent. I should have just said "fine." Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you're all appreciated and respected! This site is a actually like an "addiction!"
  15. Welcome to this Group! When you come to a stop sign, come to a complete stop because if you may fail to see that oncoming car. Always have the front wheel pointing straight ahead as you come to a stop. If the wheel is pointing off to either direction, that's the direction that you might lay it down. Just be cautious of activity several hundred feet ahead of you. Good Luck, Enjoy - it's a wonderful experience.
  16. Originally I just used the name of our Motorhome "KountryStar" for my user name, but later it didn't sound appropriate. So, yesterday, I changed it to "Nemo", which is kind of a backwards and upside down spelling of my real name, Owen. And now, many thanks to you other members for all of the helpful advice and recommendations which are posted on this forum. I keep a file of many of them for future reference. You're a swell group!
  17. The orange fuse is called a fustat, 20 amp. If you just keep blowing fuses after you've unplugged every thing that you can find, I don't want you to blow any more. From a hardware store, buy a light socket with 2 wires on it. Remove the circuit wire from that fuse and attach one of these light socket wires to the fuse terminal. Splice the other light socket wire onto the circut wire that you removed. Put a 100 watt bulb in this light socket and install a new fustat. A short circuit or a grounded hot wire will cause the bulb to light at full briteness. Now, if you are really sure that everything is unplugged, your next step may be that you will need to remove and inspect every outlet on that circuit. Just make sure that the outlet is actually dead before you remove it by plugging in a lamp into the outlet first. As you're working, keep an eye on the test light bulb, because once the direct short is found, the bulb will glow dimmer if something is still using that circuit, or go out completely. If you do find something wrong with the wiring in any of the wall boxes, just remove the test light bulb before doing repairs, to prevent getting shocked. And don't forget about the light switches. Sometimes a light fixture gets tied into a receptacle circuit. Make sure you can turn the lights on and off. Best of Luck to you - you'll find it! Owen
  18. What was the brand of the Trike Kit, and on which brand of Bike? Owen.
  19. Looks like a fine idea to me too! Mark me up for 1 MC plate and 2 Auto plates. Just give me your E-mail address and I'll pay you from PayPal. My e-mail address is: owenjean1@msn.com. Owen.

    Handling

You know, I feel the same way about this Venture of mine, but I know how to really get it to handle best at these slow speeds and corners. I'm planning on adding a Hannigan Trike Kit (If I can somehow sneek the price past the better half)! Owen.
  21. I ordered the 32 oz jug for $25 (inc. shipping) also. I'll give it a whirl and use it in the car also.
  22. I'm really amazed at the amount of valuable information and suggestions that I have read on this forum within just this year. I keep itemized notes of every important item that I may want to reference in the future. I truly thank all of you members for this! And then to top it off, my trunk spoiler had a section of lights which weren't working and from a previous thread, "Andrew of ablumny," had noted that a friend of his had repaired his. I contacted Andrew and he said to send it out to him. I did that and he got it repaired beautifully and sent it back to me. I say Thank You, Thank You, and I feel eternally indebted for this act of kindness and hope he is repaid many times from either my help or others! This made my day! Owen.
  23. I have this '99 RSV and it doesn't have any of the noises that everyone is talking about. But I do have one different noise, and only at 65 MPH and it sounds like as when you shake a can of spray paint and hear the ball bouncing around inside. If it gets annoying, I just go a little faster or slower and it gone:337:. Now it that weird or what? Owen.
  24. Thanks for the input guys! Hannigan is the brand that I've been checking on, too. There is also a dealer here in Iowa who will come and pick up my bike and deliver it back with the new set on it for no charge, and he's around 500 miles from here. Anyway, I do appreciate the positive opinions which helps confirm my choice. Guess it's time to bust the piggy bank open again! Owen.
  25. I really prefer my cowboy boots for riding. The pants leg never rises above the tops of the boots which offers a little more leg protection plus they look good on the rider. I've had my Justins for several years. I danced with them for over 10 years (country two step, polka and waltz) and re-soled the last time with rubber half soles and had a spacer added to the heels also. That even helps my short legs reach the ground! Owen.
