  1. I found out that a very important issue to me was stopping correctly and not tipping over. To do so, I always stop with the front wheel pointing straight ahead. Stopping with the wheel pointing in either direction relays the weight of this heavy Bike to your arms and body and sometimes it's impossible to hold it up, and over you go. Also, I find that too heavy on the front brake makes for a less steady stop. But, just go with that Venture, because like I always say, There can't be a more enjoyable, comfortable motorcycle made! You'll love it also!
  2. What a great voice for such a young lady! She should enjoy a musical future.
  3. I would suggest that you re-check all those windshield bolts again. Man, I'd hate to think that you might lose that windshield on the highway someday. That's a bad situation, anyway. I feel very sorry for you!
  4. There are no reflector/lights on the sides of my rear crash bars as I've seen others have. Do any of you know of some for sale or where I may check to find this item? Are these stock lights or is it an after market item? Your help will be appreciated. Owen.
  5. Man, that's terrible! I truly feel sorry for you! Those photos say it all. It seems that no matter how careful we are, accidents happen. Having spent my working days in the construction trades, I've had my own and seen many bad accidents. I feel we're lucky to still be alive. I know it'll take time, but here's wishing you the best of luck with the operation and for a full recovery! Stay tough and hang in there!
  6. Hey, that's really a good looking baby! Do like I always say, though, "She must have a good looking Grandpa!" We'll never catch up to you with 21, but we have 12 and 4 great grand babies. These kids keep growing up, don't they? (And we don't get any older!!!)
  7. I'll take a one of your packs of tapes. Just let me know the price for postage and I'll get it to you either check or preferrably Pay-Pal. Thanks, Owen.
  8. Okay, here's the deal. I have a CB antenna that originally, by loosening the chrome sleeve, would fold down. The threads apparently got froze up and I put too much presssure on it and broke the hinge piece. How about $75 for the whole unit?
  9. What part are you actually referring to? Is it just the top piece with a tiny ball on top that attaches to the lower portion with a couple of set scews? Or is it the section with the black CB piece?

    Humming Birds!

Nice tatoo - good job! I like it!
  11. Not Bike related, but some of you may be interested. My wife bought a Humming Bird feeder last month. I hung it on a wire from a tree limb, close to the house, and never seen a bird around it. A friend told me that it has to be hung away from tree limbs. So, Saturday, I moved it and hung it on a wire from the soffit, under the rain gutter, in front of the large bay window. And this morning there was two humming birds feeding. Really an interesting sight. I didn't know we even had these birds in the neighborhood. It sure attracts them. The feeder is first filled with water, then add sugar and some red food coloring. Works like a charm. Now I've got a new unique hobby!
  12. I was riding through the hills in Lake of the Ozarks one year. As I came to the crest of one hill, looking ahead I see shinny oil. That scarred me to a screething halt. The County had just applied a layer of oil, ahead of adding new black top for the following day. That could have been a serious disaster! No signs posted either.
  13. I believe that the name "Harley" is what some non riding public uses to refer to a motorcycle in general. They do the same thing when calling a motorhome, "Winnebego!"
  14. Well, Volts times Amps equal Watts - so a fuse of 10 Amps at 125 Volts could supply a load of 1250 Watts. But a fuse of 10 Amps at 32 Volts would only supply a load of 320 Watts and would blow if used for 125 Volts. In other words, your 125 Volt fuse would not blow from an overload up to 1250 Watts.
  15. Just a suggestion. My '99 RSV is Maroon and Silver with the top portion of the trunk as Maroon. I put on a Silver spoiler and the contrast looks fantastic. It actually gives the bike a very distinguished look. And the Silver was a stock color.
  16. I bought one of them. A nice tee-shirt and the printing is fairly good too. They are listed for $10.99 plus $6.95 S&H. I bid it for $7.05 plus $6.95 S&H and they accepted the offer. The shirts are 99% cotton, made in Honduras and imported into Mexico. I'm satisfied with the purchase. Looks like my bike okay.
  17. OK Mel, I apologize - now my face is really red! I forgot about that other horn. Sorry 'bout that! Owen
  18. Mel, you are getting a "hot" reading on both wires at the horn because the actual "hot" wire is going through the horn windings, which makes the other wire appear as "hot" also. Just disconnect the wires from the horn. Then when you check it now, you'll find that just one wire is the "hot" wire. The other wire will check as dead, until the horn button is pushed and then it become a negitive test.
  19. Just be very careful, you guys, when taking these early season rides! I know, we're all anxious! There is still plenty of sand on these highways, especially the 2 lane ones. A tight curve can be treatuous! Years ago, I had a Honda Aspencade and went for an early season ride in March. I felt the front wheel tend to slip on a tight curve through the hills. Attempting to correct it, the bike approached the shoulder and there was a gap between the pavement and the shoulder. All I remember is doing a forward flip. The next thing I knew was seeing the ambulance and paramedics beside me. Someone had seen me go down and called them. I'm broke up pretty bad. Three broken and two cracked ribs. And it ruined my helmet! They wouldn't remove the helmet. Totalled the bike. Then that rough ride to the hospital with those ribs really did about kill me. Anyway, though, Please be cautious and stay alert! I wouldn't want something like that to happen to anyone else! It only takes about 2 seconds, and Wham! Owen.

    Nice little run

You wouldn't have to be crazy - but it would sure help!
  21. Hello, I got one in the mail yesterday and I can't remember ever ordering one. What a surprise! Anyway, it's real nice! And it's "BIG!"

    A new Buick

And you have to wear large eye glasses!
  23. I certainly agree with all of your appraisals of the carbon one adpter. I also have one. It's a fine piece of equipment. I've raised my RSV several times and have it covered and sitting on the legs now, for the winter. I bought the Sears Red jack when it was on sale for $89, and it works very smooth. A fantastic pair! It's not really important, but I put small painted dots, 1 to 4, on the legs and also matching on the adapter. Then each time the legs are inserted, they always go into the same position, just in case the bolt holes don't always aleign.
  24. Birthdays are good for you! The more you have, the longer you live!!! Old age comes at a very bad time!!! It ain't the Age - It's the mileage!!! Any day above ground is a good one!!! It's not that I'm afraid to die - It's just that I don't want to be around when it happens!!! The more you complain, the longer God makes you live!!! If I knew I'd live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself!!! RETIREMENT: Twice as much Husband - Half as much Money!!! But then, my Wife always gives me sound advice - 99% sound -- 1% advice!!!
  25. Please add me to your list and "Thank You" for the offer! Owen.
