Several have suggested Rotella 15W 40 motor oil and a Supertech ST-7317 Filter from Walmart. The Rotella oil containers state "Diesel" on them and apparently they don't stock the Supertech any more. I need some advice or suggestions. Thank you! Owen.

Motorcyclist Struck by lighting near Grandfather Mountain
Nemo replied to etcswjoe's topic in Safety and Education
An acquaintance of mine had just returned home following a hunting trip. It was raining slightly. He stood beneath a tree in the yard to relieve himself. Lightning hit the tree and knocked him about 6 feet, but no serious injuries. He thought that the shells in his hunting vest had exploded! -
Been there! Done that! I solved the problem now and forever. I had a "Hannigan Trike Kit" installed. There's no way to explain the overall feeling of confidence and enjoyment that such an added component could make to a motorcycle.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but...

Try www.stripeman.com. Good luck! -
OK, I bought a new filter. I'm new of this. Now, it looks like the old filter is below and beside the battery. Is this correct? Then the battery has to be removed first, right? Owen.

Tried by removing the cap - petcock is open correctly - bad fuel filter seems logical too, so I'll check that later. Thanks everyone.

I was just hauled home with a flat bed tow truck. That worked out fine, because I didn't get far from home before the motor quit. It's a '99 RS Venture/Trike . It won't start. The tank is full and it cranks fine, but it runs for about 2 seconds. I can hear the fuel pump running continually. Do you think that the fuel pump is just not pumping? Owen.

I really like that trim around the front fender, the tank and the wind deflectors! What are they or do you know for sure? I'm looking for something like that for mine. That's a beautiful bike and I know you are so proud of it. Owen.

Replacement pin stripes.

I am interested in trying to put a 1/4" double line pinstripe tape around the fender of the wheel openings of my Trike. Has anyone tried this? Will it bend around a curve like that? Owen. -
Others have said in the past that this group of members is more like family every day. I also say it's true because of the ways we help each other either physically or providing important tips. Today I send my many thanks to Larry (Carbon_One) for his generosity in sending me the set of clips that hold the intercom connections to the bike. I certainly appreciate that! Now, since he sent the pair and I only need one, anyone else looking for one of these clips, PM me and I'll send it to you. What a fine group! Owen.

Man, now you tell me!! I just bought the pair of L shaped brackets only from Diamond R Accessories and paid $55.90. One of mine had split & was about to come apart.

Our Daughter and her two Granddaughters, (our Great Granddaughters) aged 7 & 9, came in over the 4th of July from Illinois. I gave them both a few mile ride on the trike, with a helmet and head set attached, so we could talk. Boy, were they excited! It sure "made the day" for their trip. Who could be more proud! Me! Love little Girls! Owen.

I know this has been around several months ago, but now I lost the rubber intercom attachment clip on the side/rear of my RS Venture. Anyone have one for sale? Thank you, Owen.

I had my '99 Triked last year with the Hannigan kit. I don't believe there can be a better choice because of the appearance and design, the paint quality, the mechanics, the ride, the handling, and the perfect fit. Expensive, but I'm a happy camper! Owen

Sorry Fellows, but now I just answered my own question about the position of the American flag. I logged onto Google and found this: The position of honor in a display of flags are: 1. U.S. flag in the position of higest honor (the observers extreme left or the highest point in a group of flags.) Now, I've got mine right. Thanks anyway. Owen.

I always make sure that I can park heading the bike uphill. Backing uphill is a pain. Owen.
-
Hi Lewis; Sorry to hear about you having that pain with the back. There's nothing worse! This may not be your "cup of tea" or may not be the solution, but I'm going to recommend going to a qualified Chiropractor. Working in construction, before retiring, my back would go out of place, sometimes about once a year. Usually, I couldn't even straighten up to walk. And once, my wife had to actually push down on my shoulders to fit me into the passenger seat of the car to take me to the Chiropractor. The pain was always a killer! Five minutes after his mulipulation, I would walk out as new man again. Wow, like a miracle. He was my llife saver, that's for sure. Good luck to you! Owen.

Am I doing this correctly? I'm flying both the Venture Riders flag and the American flag and have the American flag on the Left. Makes an attractive set up. Owen.

Well, probably I'm a little slow here, but if someone asked for your paypal account name, wouldn't they need it to transfer payment to you? Just asking.

Serious cornering questions tips for an experienced Rider
Nemo replied to muaymendez1's topic in Safety and Education
I was about to say the same thing. Try a Trike! One time, slipping on sand and over reacting, I accidently eased into the extra deep groove between the pavement and the shoulder. The bike flipped, broke me up real bad and destroyed the bike. Since adding the Hannigan Trike kit to my Venture, curves are never a worry any more. Still must be caucious, but that feeling of confidence and comfort is worth many times the cost of the Trike. Owen -
I agree that maybe the steering is somewhat uncomfortable around corners and sharp curves, but that's made up for on regular highway travel, including normal curves. That's why this Trike is often referred to as a road couch. They are extremely comfortable on the highways. The relaxed, pleasant feeling of security makes every trip much more enjoyable than ever on two wheels, but it's just hard to describe the pleasure of that added third wheel. Emergency situations are a real plus, because in most cases, you'll survive, instead of wrecking. If you add the Hannigan Trike kit to your Venture, you will wish that you had done so, years ago. There's not a thing I dislike about mine. Enjoy!!! Owen

I'm installing a new InterNatrik Security System on my trike. I'm checking under the seat and testing all the wires, looking for the ones that are blinking for the turn signals. Maybe I'm doing this wrong, because I find that none of them blink. A few are hot and some check nothing. Plus, I don't know where the blinker relay is located. I know, amateurs shouldn't be fooling with things like this! Anyway, does anyone have a suggestion. Owen.
-
Salty Dog, I'm using your reply about enjoying your security system by InterNatrix so I bought one for my Venture Trike. I got the model TW-1000 for $169.00. Now if this weather ever warms up, I'll get it installed and then let everyone know my opinion of it also. From just reading the owners manual, it looks to be a very precise, fool proof instrument. Also, very good installation instructions. Owen

I'm a firm believer in the bike alarms. I'll tell you a story. Several years ago a group of us with about a dozen bikes took a trip to Pikes Peak. I had an alarm on my bike. We stopped and spent the night at a motel enroute. The bikes were all lined up in a row in the parking lot and some guys came by and started pushing them over. When they got to mine, my beeper went off and I shouted "the bikes", someones got mine. The shouts got carried through the building. Everyone jumped into their jeans and headed down the halls and out the door. You'd have thought a bomb went off or something if you'd seen all these people rushing out of that motel all at once. Scarred those punks anyway and their car went racing off when they saw us all rushing out. Other than maybe some dings on some of the bikes, mine got the worse because they dumped it over on the left side with the kick stand down and broke the windshield. Hard telling what they would have done if that alarm hadn't gone off. I just recently got a new alarm system for my trike and will install that if this weather ever warms up. Owen

Congratuations on the purchase of your new bike. You made a good choice. I definitely love everything about these Ventures except that top heavy nature of them. I've laid mine over a half a dozen times and always luckily had someone nearby who helped lift it back up again. Then, I had the Hanigan Trike kit added, which made it into a real dream machine, with all the comfort and dependability as ever but with no slow speed handling problem. Actually, it's really enjoyable to run at slow speeds now. Plus a very secure feeling. Good luck to you, and drive carefully. Owen
