Sunday, the trike's engine stalled on the Interstate. It had stalled once before, a month ago, and then I replaced the fuel filter and it has run fine. Since it reacted the exact same way again, I thought it had to be the filter again. But, when I unclipped the hose to the tank, the filter came out to me along with a section of heavier hose about a foot long. Now, I'm really in trouble, because I don't know where this hose came loose from. I believe that when I replaced the clutch slave valve, earlier, that I must have accidently loosened that hose. Please, can someone help me with some advice? I sure need it and would certainly appreciate it. The bike is a '99 RS Venture. Thank you! Owen.

If you particularly like playing Solitaire, I recommend getting an "Amazon Kindle Fire". You'll definitely Love It! A good brain exercise, that's for sure. There're habit forming!

Instead - Just buy some Microsoft (MSFT) stock. It's at $32.74 today and may even reach $52.00 within the year. Plus it pays a dividend of $1.12/share a year. A fine buy!

Sorry, what was I thinking? Yes I meant Allen wrench bolts on the 2nd gen.

Are they available anywhere, to buy? I would like to have 6 of these, since some of mine are missing. Owen/

Thank you all for your concern and opinions. I had completely drained and refilled the reservoir and bled the slave valve 6 or 8 times. I also had tried starting it in first gear, but the starter wasn't powerful enough to move it forward. You know, this is a heavy Trike now. I'd wished I had a helper to push, to get it rolling. And, when I said that the reservoir was still full, I meant that it was still at the proper height. I'll see now if this new bleeder project proves to be successful. I don't ever want to go through that again. Owen.

Waiting at a stop light with trans in first gear today, the bike started creeping ahead. I hit the brake, but then it killed the engine still trying to move ahead. I had to shift to neutral to start the engine again. The clutch lever had no resistance feeling to it. The traffic light turned green. I pressed the shifter to go into low gear. Have you ever tried to shift into low without pulling the clutch??? Man, that thing started moving with a jerk, jerk, jerk and jerk and then settled out, but didn't kill the engine. I'm only about 10 blocks from home, so I was able to get it into 2nd gear and drove that way for a couple of blocks or so. After slowly running the next stop light (that's bad), I started shifting up on a long stretch of highway and it now shifted fine. After that it still shifted fine even back shifting for corners and hills as I approached home. Man, what a scarry ride though!! Yesterday, it had run fine. I had just replaced the clutch slave valve and bled the system a few days ago. The reseviour is still full, but I think I'll bleed the system again tomorrow. Seems like maybe there's some obstruction in the line. Now does anyone have a suggestion to this long story? Owen

I've had it out 3 times and each time putting it in, I started the skinny end first with the bleeder turned in both directions and it still ends up upside down. So I just now tried going is backwards with the body end first, but can't seem to get it to go. I'm not giving up yet so I'll go back and give it another try. -

I'm sorry, I called it a zerk fitting, but no, I meant the bleeder fitting on the slave valve. I just can't seem to get the valve positioned correctly to slip up into place. -
I need someone's help. I live in Council Bluffs Iowa. Item: the Clutch Slave Valve on my '99 RSV. I have the old one out, but just can't get the new one up into place. The zerk fitting needs to be in the upright position and it always ends up facing down. I'm at my wits end and had to give up. So, does anyone live close that can spare some valuable time? Help would truly be appreciated. Thanks You! Owen.

...Thank You to Squidley for the phone call and e-mail to help me with his advice and recommending parts and supplier for replacing the clutch slave valve and gasket. This Forum is my favorite of all sites and I keep a notebook filled with the constant ideas and recommendations from the members here. I appreciate you all! Owen

Reading the entries from others about the 2nd Gen clutch slave valve - I think that may be where my clutch leak fluid is coming from. I thought it was behind the rear chrome cover on the left side, but after removing the perimeter bolts, the cover still fits snug. I'm concerned about trying to pry or force it off. I need your expert help before I get myself in trouble. Thank you! Owen.

Both trip meters 1 and 2 quit registering. I pushed the reset on both. Is there something else that needs to be done? Owen

With a unit like that behind the ear, how does it feel with wearing a motorcycle helmet? I have the ones that fit into the ear and since I'll kick one out sometimes as I remove my helmet, I make it a practice of always holding my head over the opened trunk as I remove the helmet and at times an aid has fallen into the trunk. Just a safety measure.

To begin with, the whole house was filled with this delicious smell. Jeaneane had finished baking a pineapple upside down cake. I went down to help as she flipped it over onto a plastic platter. Well, disaster, the dish slipped off and it all hit the floor in a huge gob. I feel sorry for her after all that work and then to dump it into the garbage. Wow!

OK, here's my 3 cents worth. Realize that I've only had my Yamaha/Hannigan conversion done just one year ago. 1. Average gas mileage is 30 MPG. And with a total of 12 gallons on board. 2. Death trap? Never, ever felt that way. Totally controlled feeling, even at 80 MPH. 3. Power? Easily start up and keep up or pass city traffic. I'm no speed demon! 4. Passing? Never been in a hurry, but passing slower cars on a 2 lane, no problem. 5. Comfort, riding & foot position? Wow! No way possible to be any better! 6. Reverse? Legs work fine. Always survey area before parking. Hannigan offers one. 7. Looks? (Opinion only) Looks like a real motorcycle instead of a plastic replica. 8. Triking the Yamaha. I couldn't be happier and would never trade something else. The ride, the seated position, the secure feeling, the passengers space, that muffled rumble sound and the attention we receive. I'm a very Happy Camper! 9. Never sorry! Owen

I thought it was an oil leak, but it's brake fluid. The hose to the clutch, or something else, is leaking. I had to fill the reservoir and bleed the clutch line. Where do I look to inspect the lower connection on this 2nd gen RSV? Help needed again.

Thanks to Everyone for the responses! I'm unsure about the valve cover gaskets, but no, I've never changed them myself. I see no visible oil on any exterior surface nor any that I can touch. I will try cleaning the tubes inside and out. Plus temporarily, I'll keep a cardboard under it while in the garage. It's just a minor drip. There are two things (actually more than two) that I appreciate from this Forum. One is for the expert advice received to complete repairs and the second is the advice to prevent from doing the wrong thing. Have a Fun riding year! Owen

Thanks Steve, but the oil is on the outsides of the 2 tubes so it's coming from above the ends of the tubes. There isn't too much of a leak, maybe a few drops a night, but it spreads on the floor. I mentioned the left side cover because I thought that it may be possible to see the side view of these tubes, if they were behind this cover and see where the oil is coming from. I don't want to remove this cover and get into trouble of losing oil or some other problem. And I don't have the rear shock because I've added the Hannigan Trike kit. Owen.

I have an oil leak . I checked all the bolts on the bottom of the motor for tightness. I see 2 hoses coming down from above, next to the motor, with oil on them. There is a large chrome cover on the left side just below where the rear cylinder ties into the exhaust pipe. This cover has 7 bolts around it's perimeter. Question. Can these bolts and the cover be removed without a problem, and expose those hoses to see where the leak is coming from? Owen.

Yesterday, on a highway several miles from home and in between towns, she just cold died on me. I coasted onto the shoulder, looked at the gas gauge and no gas. When I had the Hannigan Trike kit installed I had the aux. gas tank installed. The system has it's own pump to transfer gas from there to the bike's tank, but the light wasn't lit and it wasn't pumping. OH BOY!!! Removed the seat and right away saw the loose wire that was to be attached to the negative battery post. What a bummer! Easy fix, but had me scarred. Previously I had removed the battery looking for another problem and somehow overlooked that wire. First mistake I ever made !!!! HA! But, on the road again in a short time. Whew!

OK! My doubts are all satisfied now and I appreciate all of your opinions. So, I'll go back to Walmart tomorrow and get the white jug. Thank you all! I love this site! Owen.

The white jug is what I'm referring to as saying it's for Diesel, and doesn't list for anything else. Plus, as I recall, the blue jug's rating is 10W 30. Still confused!
