  1. Since this 99 RSV in still fairly new to me, I would like to know if this high pitched tinny sound coming from the engine is a common sound of these units or is something out of adjustment within the engine. I hear it most between 50 and 70 MPH. Reminds me of an old Chevy that I had, and had to occasionly adjust the tappets to reduce the clicking sound. Or, is this something not to be concerned about?
  2. How do I find Pin Wall Cycle Parts? Does anyone know the E-mail address or Web Site? I'm looking for a C B Antenna for a "99 RSV. Mine broke off. Also, I know that these antennas were a recall item, but our local Yamaha Shop says that the recall only applied to the first 2 years in service. Any comments on their reply?
  3. Thanks Guys, I have some 3M, 2 sided, .045" Foam tape here at home, so I'll try that.
  4. What do you suggest to use to re-attach the holder, on the tank, for the head set cord receptacle? Somehow, it popped off when I bumped it. I don't know if it is supposed to be stuck on with a glue or maybe a 2-sided tape. Anyone else have this problem? Owen.
  5. I also have hearing aids, provided by the VA and have them in both ears. I feel that they leave a lot to be desired, but much better than without them Mine are also Phonak, called ITE Savia. Does yours fit into the ear or benind the ear? I'm hoping that sometime in the future that they will have something better to offer. The ones that I have, have 4 choices with the button. The #3 position is actually turned off, but with a cordless devise that they gave me, it will pick up better sounds by also using a cordless sending unit. Anyway, good luck with the new units. That's one of the prices we pay to get OLD! Owen.
  6. Are quite the opposite when applied to lowering the front of a RSV. Thanks to all of you guys for the detailed directions about how to do this! I got the project completed and lowered the front, one inch. But, mathematically knowing better, I actually envisioned a one inch lowered seating. Big dumb mistake! No one had mmentioned that when lowering the front one inch that the seat would only be lowered by 1/2 inch. Lowering another 1/2 inch now would only give me about another 1/4 inch lower seat, and that's too much work to gain just a 1/4 inch. Guess I'll just add a 1/4 inch rubber sole on the cowboly boots! Ha. So, just remember that what ever amount that you lower the front, the seat will be only lowered about 1/2 that amount. (Guess everyone knows that but me!) Ride safely and watch out for those crazy cars! ___________________________________________________- I should of stood in bed!
  7. I don't have a 1 1/16" socket, but will a box end wrench work for removing the nut on the top on the triple tree. I haven't began the job of lowering the front on my '99 RSV yet, but I'm first lining up the proper tools. And also, I have a dumb question. Will a regular motorcycle jack work by itself or do I really need the adapter? Thank You! Owen
  8. I'm probably too late now, because you've probably already sold it. Sorry, but I just now stumbled upon your thread. Anyway, I am interested. Thanks, Owen. owenjean1@msn.com
  9. Just wanted to say Hi to all you Guys and Girls. My name is Owen Neal and my wife is Jeaneane, and I am one of the latest members to join your group. My last Bike was a Honda Aspencade, several years ago until now. I recently bought a very well maintained 1999 RS Venture. And it's a real dresser! I don't believe that there is another chrome assessory available that is not already on this Bike, plus the '06 Midnight Seats and the Harley Mufflers. Just another Toy that I really didn't need, but I truly love her! I appreciate the sincere and honest questions and answers from you members as posted on the forums. You seem like a very friendly and honest group! I am also with another forum for Class A Motorhomes and have gotten a lot of very helpful suggestions and advice from those members, in the past few years. But, there always seems to be a few of those "Idiots" who seem to invariabaly try to put down, embarrrass, or insinuate stupidity of the questioners on that forum. I don't believe that there is a stupid question, but those nasty replies only verify their inteligence! I have found none of this on this forum and its appreciated! Keep up the Good Work! I am retired and live in Council Bluffs, Iowa and spend the winters in Mission Texas (Near McAllen) in an RV Park. I'd like to know of others of you who also live near Council Bluffs (or Omaha). Thank You All, and have a fun year! I'll be back again. And thanks to Don for guiding me on how to post a this thread. Owen. P.S. Hey, I even paid my dues!
