  1. The 84-93 flasher relay is in a unit that is about the size of a pack of cigarettes. There is a 41R # on it. 9 wires going into it. This unit also contains the starting circuit cut-off relay. Gary Brian beat me to it.
  2. Got this geared motor at work today from one of the other engineer's. There may be a couple of more available. I don't know what it was intended for. 12V motor, not a servo motor. Only 2 wire input. What can this motor be made to do on a Venture. Really, you know me, I may just try the best ideas. Gary
  3. Carl, Package went out today. Gary
  4. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/dogsatwalmart.jpg
  5. It will go out tomorrow, or at latest Saturday. I have to go to Post Office to mail it. Gary
  6. OK, 7:40 PM & counting....... http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/10_15_91.gif Gary
  7. I have 3 spares, if you need one, its yours. Relay is about 1/2" longer than other relays in headlight bucket. Gary
  8. Blue, Grey, Red/White & Black wires. Settle down I don't want to see this post get deleted by the more experienced moderators. Gary
  9. Here is thread on cleaning throttle side switch. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42433 Check that the fuses are snug in the holders on both ends. Metal fatigue has caused a lot of problems . Gary
  10. I probably have an extra fuel pump relay if you get to that point. Gary
  11. What diameter are the front rotors? I might part with my YZF 750 six pot calipers, for what I paid for them. These should be a direct bolt on in place of 282mm rotors. 100mm caliper bolt spacing. Do not have pads. Brackets are going to be machined in next few days, so I can put the R1 radial 6 pots on. Gary
  12. Attached is a diagram of MKI jumper locations. I think saltcreep did this diagram a few years ago. Gary
  13. Try this ebay seller. kz10cubed I don't see a listing for the Ventures, but I think they are 10 x 1.25. Send him a message & he will reply. I have got a couple of sets from him. You need 4 bleeders. Gary
  14. Here is a video of Marks collector and no mufflers. Blue smoke has been a minor annoyance since the VMax heads went on, I think it may be valve guides. I was hitting about 6,000 RPM's, bike was at operating temp. I can't get video to link right, but this should work. 15. Out of curiosity, where is your choke located ? Is it under the left side switch housing or is it around the hand grip ? I have a Venture I bought a few weeks ago that is titled as an 83, but it has all the charecteristics of an 84, and it is not the only one that is known to be like this. Gary
  16. It's a 2nd gen, nobody is going to see the trunk on it anyways. Can't see that in the rear view mirror. http://i1007.photobucket.com/albums/af193/gdingy101/deadhorse-1.gif Gary
  17. I might have been you that aimed me at the copper pipe as suitable gaskets a few weeks ago in the chat room one night. Gary
  18. Got a set of rear speakers mounted into the saddle bags of the scooter this week. I found a set of computer speakers that had a interesting shape to them at a local electronics recycler. I don't know what they came from. I hooked them up to stereo in garage before hand and they sound pretty good. Mounted into front of saddlebags with a thin piece of a baggie over them to water proof. I know that won't help sound, but it will give me an overall better volume on bike. I have an aftermarket radio with front & rear volume controls. Gary
  19. A few pictures of what I McGyver'ed up to install collector. Based upon Masterguns experience with his Mark's collector, I decided to go a little overboard to not have the issues he had. First few pictures show a cheap replacement collector gaskets for the front & rear headers that worked out well. I used a 1 1/4" copper pipe coupler & some 1 1/4" copper pipe for the gaskets. I cut coupler in half on a carbide blade saw. Cut a matching length of pipe. Soldered the two together on one end, just so the wouldn't separate. This was a close fit for the ID of the marks collector tubes & the OD of the 4 header tubes. To make sure it sealed the 1st time, I used a high temp RTV sealant. This stuff is good to about 700 deg F. Coated inside & outside of copper bushing and put it together. Actually was easier to mount the Mark's than it has been to mount the stock collector due to some machine work on the block. Also used RTV on mufflers, but I didn't replace those gaskets. I need to clean up some of the excess RTV yet. No leaks. And it defiantly has a different sound to it. Gary
  20. I am fairly sure that the 83's didn't come with factory cruise. I think the poster had a post a week ago about the bike having an 88-89 brake switch on it. If this is the case, the bikes wiring harness has either been replaced with a cruise version or there are spare wires ran all over to get the cruise working. Does the bike have a key surround that has a push button & three indicator lights on it (86-93 version), or is there a single indicator light on the face of the tach (84-85 version)? Either way, the switches are interchangeable from an 84 to a 93. The clutch switch and front brake switches should interchange, I think the only difference is the wire color coding. The air pump and cruise module are different on the 84/85 from the 86/93 versions. Also, the throttle grip cruise controls are different between the 2 styles. Gary
  21. This is going to come as a shock, but I am going to disagree and say it probably should be done. I am not getting a royalty payment on number of this mod done, so this is a slightly unbiased opinion. I have done the mod to my 2 brush & my 4 brush starter. Both of them suffer from the same 'floating' brush plate design flaw. It is somewhat better in the 4 brush, but still not a hard wired path to ground. The brush plate still grounds from a result of the bell end being clamped to the main body with the brush plate sandwiched in between. Mod is harder to do to the 4 brush, since a wire (braided wire would be good) needs to be soldered (silver preferably) to one of the brush brackets. Its a cheap, and fairly easy mod if starter is not on bike. 1st pic shows 4 brush, 2nd is 2 brush plates. Gary
  22. Would you roll that or use a pipe ???? Gary
  23. I am voting for the clutch bearing being noisy if it only does it when you pull clutch lever. My valve train is noisy at a cold start up until it gets warmed up then it sounds 'normal'. There should be no mechanical link between pulling clutch & hearing cam chain/lifter noise. Gary
  24. Do you have a working stock TCI you can check bike with? I did check yours and all the 83-89's on my bike before sending them out, but would like to eliminate Ignitech as culprit. I am having an issue with at least one of the Ignitech's on a 90-93 single pick up coil bike that won't fire. I had no way of testing the single pick up coil units. That one does run with the stock TCI. But if it is firing with starting fluid, I would doubt it is the TCI. Gary
  25. The 84 has a fan relay on it. The coil has a switched 12V+ to it and negative side runs through the sensor with the spade lug terminal (Blue/Green). The bullet type terminal (Green/Red) feeds 12V- through a variable thermistor to the gauge. There is a second bullet connector (Black) on the housing that grounds it. Gary
